Aloft Asheville Downtown

The hotel was fantastic! Staff was kind and courteous. Although the construction next door was frustrating, I see first hand how Marriott is not allowing the hotel to post notices. The staff does everything they can to help with this. The reason for the review is due to me seeing several other guests berate and belittle the staff. Please, if you come to this hotel, do not take your frustrations out on the staff of the hotel that have no way of controlling the situation.

I didn't like how other guests at the hotel spoke to the staff. More than one person made more than one staff member have a much worse day than they should have had. Be nice to the people in the service industry!

-Perfect downtown location; close to great restaurants -Cool vibe; great facilities -Comfortable bed and pillows; great blackout shades -Endless hot water -Super friendly staff -Great shampoo, condition, body wash; plenty -Decently fast elevator

-Carpets seemed kinda dirty; my socks discolored to brown -The outdoor space with the pool and mountain view wasn't maintained well; the floor looked dirty and unappealing; the pool was super ugly drained; I didn't see a single soul go out there, despite nice weather and the fires being lit -The light switches are weird; they're all by the main entrance and confusing -Water from the shower floods over onto the floor, despite the glass door being closed

Location is perfect. We could walk everywhere we wanted to go. Staff, especially front desk lady, were really nice. Will stay again.

It was just a little noisy - I could hear slamming doors a lot and people shouting outside and car engines revving. I know there’s nothing that can be done about that, it’s just part of being in such a central location. It didn’t bother me too much but that’s literally the only complaint I had the whole time. If I wanted quiet I could go somewhere else but then I wouldn’t be so close to all the action! It’s a trade-off!

The hotel staff were great! The mountain view from our room was amazing! The sunset was also spectacular! The location was perfect.

The room was fine overall, but a few things bothered me: the mattress was uncomfortable, the pillows had clumpy stuffing and were flat, the comforter on the bed was very thin and there were no other blankets in the room, there was only one hook in the entire room to hang towels or other items, and the towels had long thin rips on the edges. If the mattress, pillows, and comforter were better, I’d be completely satisfied.

Couldn't ask for a better location! Front desk staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. We enjoyed having a lot of streaming options for entertainment in our room. We appreciated they were dog friendly without an extra fee.

Part of the bed frame had come undone. It didn't take away from our ability to have a good night's sleep, but there was the possibility of scratching our feet or leg on the strip. I wish the bar area was open after 10, would've been nice while watching our team play from 9:30-11:30 at night. I understand not wanting to risk having a noisy dog bothering other guests, but it was a hard rule that you couldn't leave your dog in your room for any length of time.

The Asheville Aloft is nicely located in downtown Asheville, just a block from the Wicked Weed Brewery/Restaurant, and within easy walking distance of all the shopping and eating establishments downtown. We were there for a week as we love Asheville and the surrounding mountains. We walked the entire downtown area over the course of the week, and the only times we drove were to get to the North Carolina Arboretum, the Biltmore, the Riverside Arts District, and when we took side trips to Weaversville, Black Mountain, and Hendersonville. The rooms are bit on the small side, but they are quite comfortable, and the bed was superb (a big deal for me, who has lower back issues). Aloft has superb staff who are quite attentive and happy to assist with any questions we had. The hotel's housekeeping staff were exceptional - friendly, and responsive to any request for the room. The hotel lobby and entry area always smelt fresh and clean, and they must pump a wonderful scent into their ductwork there as there was no other way to maintain that great smell 24 hours a day like it was the ENTIRE week were there. Do know that the cost of staying here is not the cheapest (though also not as expensive as staying at The Haywood), and our cost for the week, with taxes, was just over $3K. We considered it money well spent for our vacation, and it should be noted that we went to Asheville during the height of Fall leaf colors, the most expensive time to go other than around Christmas. It was a great vacation for my wife and me.

I was hopeful that parking costs would be included in the hotel costs, but they are not, so plan on an extra $15 per day in parking costs added to your bill. I also wasn't a fan of how they doled out ice on the floors, but that was but a minor inconvenience.

My wife and I stayed at Aloft for 6 nights for our honeymoon, and the staff made it a wonderful and special trip. I notified the staff before arrival that we were coming to stay on our honeymoon, and any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. We check-in, and the front desk concierge immediately wished us a happy honeymoon, and they were able to upgrade our room at no charge. As we we walked into our Mountain View room, the staff had left a note, chocolates, snacks, and some champagne for us to greet us on our stay. Anytime we had a question, the people at the front desk or bar had an answer. The cleaning staff did a phenomenal job, and they even set one our blankets out, folded on the corner of our bed, each time they cleaned the room to make it feel a bit special. We had a fantastic honeymoon and will definitely be recommending and staying at Aloft again!

The location was perfect for everything we wanted to get to walking around downtown Asheville. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and it was super cute that they had a foster puppy in the lobby! The parking was very easy to go in and out of.

A couple more pillow options in terms of firm to soft. I sleep with a special pillow that I can't always travel with and having another option or 2 in terms of firmness would be a nice added touch! We were on the Main Street side of the hotel, and

Loved the city-facing corner room suite and hotel location. We found numerous places to eat and we were only a few minutes drive to the Biltmore Estate.

No big issues…although our coffee tray had not been refilled prior to our arrival- lacking regular coffee, white sugar and creamer. The staff quickly resolved this once we let them know. The heater was off until we turned it on upon our arrival. It was 40 degrees outside and the room was quite chilly.

This hotel is dog-friendly (not that we brought our dog on the plane) including a cute rescue in the lobby. Also loved the DJ friday night in the bar! Both The Blackbird (next door) and Chestnut (across the street) had wonderful meals. Starbucks 'cafe' for breakfast had excellent service. Parking is an additional charge since it is a city garage (something we weren't told when we checked in and given a pass).

Noisy neighbors (4 girls, one night) who were using their outside voices until almost 2am and again before 8am. Not the hotel's issue though.
