1000 Islands Harbor Hotel

The young lady that greeted us upon check-in was very nice and professional. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The towels, sheets, and other amenities were very nice. The view from the room of the St. Lawrence was beautiful. The location was near all the shops and restaurants in Clayton.

I was disappointed with the lack of elevators. One elevator was broken the entire time and both elevators were out of service on our 2nd day. I had a question for guest services and there was not anyone at the desk, so I went to the check-in desk and the girl ignored me while she chit-chatted with another employee.

The room was a decent size. The bathroom was nice. There were lots of mirrors in the room and places to sit. There were many places to plug in your chargers on both sides of the bed. There was a closet with hangers and space to hang your jackets/clothes.

We went off season so the outside area was being painted so we couldn't access the seating but that was understandable. We had to speak to the front desk and also call two other times to straighten out our bill. We had prepaid for out room on Booking.com but the hotel was still charging our credit card for the room. It seems that the person who processed the booking payment only applied it to one night so we were being charged for the second night.

The Beautiful Harbor Hotel sits right on the St. Lawrence River, and we had spectacular views from our room balcony. The grounds are beautiful, the room was immaculate, and the staff was very courteous and friendly. With a restaurant and bar on site, there wasn't a need to leave the premises if you didn't want to. The location is great if you want to walk about the town. Everything can be discovered on foot! We really enjoyed our stay. Wonderful mid winter reprieve.

There were some gouges in the walls, several places, where you could see other guests had scraped chairs and end tables along the wall. No big deal for us. However, a little spackle and paint wouldn't hurt. But really, no complaints.

Room was larger than expected and nicely appointed. The bathrobe was a nice touch! Love the shower - very nice set up. View of the river was spectacular - really worth the extra money.

Paid for a "room with a balcony", and there was no balcony! It was the second floor so there was the first floor roof outside the room - a sliding door let me open up for the lovely shore breeze, but if it had been summer and I wanted to sit on a balcony I would have been quite annoyed. Room description should note that for the rooms affected.

Everything about this property and staff speaks excellence. We were given a room with no tub and I asked if we could switch to one that had one because my wife had just gotten cortisone shots that morning. They didn't only switch us but gave us a double Queen bed room with a spa tub. The facility is fabulous and the restaurant is excellent also. Breakfast to die for and again an excellent staff.

There was absolutely nothing we didn't like!! This is a top notch facility and you can tell they take pride in keeping their clients happy!

The view out our large bedroom window was out of some picture book with the St. Lawrence River and the islands right there when you wake up. We visited two parks and hiked in both. Unfortunately, most of this area shuts down on Columbus Day so over half of the shops and restaurants were closed during the week with only some of them opening for the weekends. Ask the locals where to eat and most will probably recommend JK's Roadhouse in Redmond. Food was great and friendliness of the wait staff and cook was a bonus. Uncle Sam's Boat Tour to view all of the victorian-era millionaires' "summer mansions" and the newer mansions was a definite highlight!!

Wish we had known the main reasons for our going were going to be closed. Baldt Castle, Singer Castle and the Antique Boat Museum were all closed.

The 1000 Islands Harbor Hotel is a large, well-maintained hotel right on the water, at the edge of downtown Clayton. We stayed in a king room with a balcony overlooking the river. The room was comfortable and well-furnished. We did not eat in the restaurant, but we heard other guests praising the food. Service was cheerful and efficient. A short walk took us into downtown Clayton with its shops, pubs, breweries and restaurants.

The Bar and Dining Room!!! As repeat guest, we were extremely disappointed with the bar and dining area. Over past visits, we enjoyed Happy Hour, a nice Bar Menu an excellent Dining Menu. Unfortunately, the Happy Hour and the Bar menu died…..and the Dining Menu is sad…..understaffed, we waited 25 minutes to simply order and receive a simple hot cup of tea. Really….it’s hot water with a tea bag….not a big ask here. Brutal! Forget about receiving any service outside and by the fireplace pits……this area of the hotel has dropped significantly over the past few years!!!! Some guests simply gave up and left the premises in search for a better reception. I could go on and on….no purpose. We would recommend some restaurants in Town where the good and service are excellent!

The room was quite large and comfortable. The bathroom was spacious also. We always book a balcony and we even got to see a bit of the water as our room faced the parking lot. The location was great as it was close to the main street for shopping, bars and restaurants. We also enjoyed the outside bar and patio, that was right on the river.

For some reason, the floor was a bit sticky. Otherwise, everything else was fine.

The hotel, restaurant and location was magnificent.

Lack of staff for both the hotel and restaurant which sometimes created longer wait times for service in restaurant and no service for rooms. We realize this is typical for a lot of establishments these days, so I don't want to hold it against the hotel. Other than that this is a wonderful place to stay and I highly recommend it if you are visiting the area.
