Aston at Papakea Resort

view was awesome. Room was clean. Grounds are immaculate. Parking is adequate and close. Pools, BBQ’s’ golf’s and other activities are amazing. We love the property, have been there almost every year for the last 15 years. Have already booked next year even though the price to stay has risen immensely.

The kitchen could have been better equipped with bowls, utensils, and basic needs for cooking. There were no larger bowls to make a salad in, silverware was weak on number of forks, we had friends over and didnt have enough. The DISHWASHER is on its last legs! Makes a terrible noise when running. Would be nice to hav a few basic condiments in the unit, we have stayed in many others and this had nothing. Not even salt and pepper! Hard to know when they are so different. Other than kitchen supplies it was ok!

Online pictures had a Beach out front and not the rocks. Booking any of the activities apparently have to be done before you check in; however none of those are mentioned before you get there. We would have liked the lei making, etc but too late. Some of the staff were a little snippy about checking out putters and balls. supposed to be quiet between 10pm and 7 am but not enforced. outside room noise loud even at midnight.

parking was an issue if we went out for dinner and got back after dark. we had to park across the property. check out was at 11am. the cleaning person was right there at 10:58 knocking on the door and waited for us to leave and she was not friendly. we had requested a late check out the day before, but received no reply back one way or the other. we paid over $500 per night and didn’t expect to be pressured by the cleaning staff at check out time.

Amazing views from our balcony and all around the property! Nice to be able to BBQ and watch the sunset from the pool area. Great little sandy beach to walk to at sister property next door.

Cockroaches in the kitchen despite them spraying at the beginning of the week. Kitchen needs to be better stocked- both with utensils/dishes and then at least salt and pepper. Had to ask for bedding and blanket for pull out bed even though listed 4 people on our reservation.

The hotel is close to lots of eating places and a grocery store so it’s very convenient for food. Just around the corner from the hotel is a little place called Papi’s Ohana which make the best cinnamon buns - if you go early they are hot and fresh out of the oven. We loved the fact that each room had a kitchen and laundry. Some beds were comfortable and others weren’t. We rented four different rooms and each room is apparently owned by different people so that’s the reason for the differences in bed comfort in each place. We all loved the fact that this place felt like it was very welcoming, it had more of a community feel than hotels usually do. The pool wasn’t huge but big enough for us and the hot tub was pretty big. They had putting greens for everyone to enjoy as a well as other games you could play around the property. Overall we really liked this place and would definitely come back again.

Some of the beds were uncomfortable and although we were told we would have a king size bed in each of the four rooms we rented there was one which did not have a king size bed.

Acres of lush grounds, Beautiful Koi pounds, Ocean front spectacular views. Fourth floor gives you an advantage plan to see and hear the ocean waves. Swimming pool was exceptionally clean

The owners at 405E need to get a sitter starting to replace furniture. For example the swivel chair was broken. The screen door keeps falling off the track. This may be minor but it still affects the condo.

We stayed in unit J407, had a beautiful view of the ocean and palm trees. Since it's a corner unit we also had a view of inner Maui mountains, where we got to see a few rainbows after mini sprinkles. Balcony also over the coy ponds so far away enough from the pool to be very relaxing and quiet as well. Was a perfect location. We had 2 bedrooms, one was a loft upstairs which was great for our son. Master was on same floor as rest which was great with my bad knees. While there was only one AC unit the ceiling fans really helped circulate the air and once it was on for a bit, the place cooled off nicely. It was rather humid during our stay so it was essential that this worked well, but it did. Having a full kitchen for snacks and leftovers from meals, was fantastic as well. We used everything including the washer/dryer, so it was great they provided detergent for laundry and dishwasher. While the beach area on the property isn't good for sitting in sand and going into ocean, this was actually a positive to us. We could go to other hotels areas with public access to beach, like Sheraton or have lunch at Duke's at another neighboring resort and see how congested those pools were and the beaches, stay as long as we wanted but then return to our much quieter property and enjoy the relaxing pool and other activities. My husband and son both used the shuffleboard and putting greens. We also loved the proximity to some fun more local fare, in the Maui Fish Market, L&L Barbecue just to name a few. We even walked to the food truck park one night. We would absolutely stay at this resort again.

I suppose it would be nice if the resort provided towels at the pool. Also would love if there was an easier way to walk over to the neighboring Aston resort. Kind of felt it was misleading that the restaurant at that location was part of our resort. We never once went over to the neighboring Aston resort.

everything was great, but for the price of worth… free cleaning service would have been nice ! but they do provide everything you need such as laundry in unit and extra towels, cleaning supplies for your own purposes.

Everything went well. It's a lovely place to stay. Peaceful, clean, oceanfront location. The staff is friendly and helpful but never intrusive. Papakea is our favorite on Maui. It's clean and well-maintained, very relaxing. We also appreciate it's size, that it's not a behemoth of rooms with huge crowds. Definitely recommend.

Good hotel around Papakea, easily reachable by car. Very nice and kind staff, particularly the local Hawaian concierge who was incredibly helpful to help us find the best activities during our time on the island.

Is it a bit isolated, as in not really walking distance from anywhere. The toilet clogged twice and some of the parts of the hotel could use some refurbishment.
