Sand Castle Inn

Pretty good value for money (in this region of CA). It looks like owners live on the propoerty, and I felt they ensured the propoerty was safe (the larger area is quite frequented by people who do not appear to have a home). It is well looked-after (continuous improvements were being done). There was even a water dispenser in the laundry room for drinking water. We enjoyed having a freezer and fridge and microwave, made it much easier to handle food-supply for our little one. We purchased a travel bed and used that during our stay. All clean and neat. I am not a big fan of carpets in the rooms, but they were fine. Hopefully they will be the subjects of improvement soon :).

There wasn't really anything bad.

I really appreciated the clean laminate floors instead of carpeting. The furnishings are modern and very comfortable, the TV remote easy to use and HBO is offered. The bathroom is more aged but works fine.

The heat/AC system was loud and rattled even louder when it shut off. The coffee pods offered were weak and it would be nice to have liquid creamers and some tea choices.

The room was spotless and it looked to be recently upgraded and modernized. Pets are welcome for a fee and it has easy WiFi access. The best part is the office manager/owner who was exceptionally kind and helpful. He was willing to cancel our second night without any charge because I had booked the room too far away from family for Thanksgiving celebrations. He made a point of saying that family comes first. I will always be grateful for his understanding.

There is no coffee maker in the room, but the office opens at 8am and a coffee dispenser is available. Bed was too hard for our taste but thats just us.

Rooms are spacious and feature nice amenities including microwave and fridge with freezer. Bathroom is dated but clean. Staff was very friendly. Location is great with a lot of shops and restaurants nearby and the freeway easily accessible.

Water pressure could have been better. Door was not completely in frame, so cold air could enter. AC was very loud. Bed was a bit too small and too soft for my taste.

The room was clean and very comfortable. The owner takes pride in the property so it was comforting to deal with someone whom you know you're getting quality from. The location was also a great spot to be at for local attractions.

The water took about 8 minutes to get hot but honestly that was the least of our worries.

Clean and comfortable. Our room was nice sized. Staff was helpful. Very close to local attractions and much more affordable than other hotels in the area. Nice Italian restaurant across parking lot.

Property was great. Do not order pizza delivery-ours took 2 1/2 hours to show up. Should have ordered one to go from Italian restaurant across parking lot.

The availability and cleanliness. It was very affordable, too, so we could splurge on expensive Monterey restaurants and not worry about the bank account.

Nothing. It was perfect for one night to sleep. I could see how some would be concerned because it's more in an industrial/car mall type of area rather than resort-like but it's really close to all stuff Monterey.

Television was high quality. Room had been modernized. It had refrigerator microwave and sparkling, immaculate bathroom.

$100 cleaning deposit was not mentioned on booking.com. When I asked why it was not mentioned on booking.com, manager basically said I could take it or leave it. Manager might have been afraid of losing business by mentioning deposit beforehand.

Great value, good location, very comfy bed. Appreciated the amenities:shampoo conditioner, shower gel, lotion and soap. Clean and friendly staff! Close to restaurants, shops, and laundromat.

The fan in bathroom didn't seem to work so room got muggy after hot shower. But it didn't bother us...shower was great! Good pressure and hot. Would definitely stay here again.

Wonderfully comfortable bed. Good fridge and shower. Bathroom had ample and sufficient bars for safety. Clean with ample plugs and usb ports for computer and phone charging. Good shower, plentiful body cream, shampoo, conditioner and soaps.

Sink in bathroom area elevated on top of counter rendering it too high for comfortable use. Parking can be problem if lot totally filled.
