Hotel Buena Vista - San Luis Obispo

They accommodated my request to have a room on a high floor with a balcony (although one of the check in clerks was adamant on giving me the room-stating they don’t guarantee anything & she wanted to call & see who confirmed my request 👀🤷🏽‍♀️, I showed her proof that I received a confirmation back stating my request had been granted as well as they gave me a 1pm check-in that I didn’t even request , which was awesome 👍🏽🙏 The facility was peaceful and quiet, there was a convenient gas station across the street, my room was roomy and clean with a balcony to get fresh air, the beds slept so comfy and the AC kept us cool. The hotel is approximately 15-30 minutes from all beaches, there was a coffee maker, fridge and microwave in room & coffee/tea offered in lobby. They have several patio settings to sit out front and free parking.

No chairs on balcony to sit on , they only had 1 ice machine on 2nd floor but it was inoperable, & I wasn’t notified that pool and jacuzzi wasn’t available until after I was booked and paid ( but they’re both being renovated so hopefully on my next stay they will be open). There was a slight sewer smell in bathroom.

This a nicely run hotel, modest but super clean and has everything needed for comfort. I’ve stayed several times and prefer the executive rooms which feature kitchenettes and are located in a newly renovated building in the back of the property. The staff is friendly and there’s many thoughtful amenities including little picnic tables and garden nooks, a barbecue and pool area. Its on the hotel row just a skip away from the cal poly campus. Walkable distance to restaurants as well as campus… There’s a buena vista too, seen from the little lobby.

This is a great place to stay if you are visiting Cal Poly SLO. The price is great. The staff was very welcoming . The beds were comfy and the room looks just as pictured. We had no noise. There is no continental breakfast but literally you can walk across the street to Apple Farms and have a good breakfast there.

When we arrived the room was cold but I turned on the heater and it warmed up rather quickly. I was surprised because the heater is in the back of the room but it worked fine.

The staff was charming and gentle. The site is situated in the right place where you can get access to pharmacies, gas stations, restaurants, coffee shops and much more. Enough parking spots and two entrance / exits for easy access.

The opening hour of the gym was late, it should be 24/7. Also the laundry requires quarter coins, but there was no way to get the coins in the lobby or the surroundings. I ended going to a laundry store nearby. The breakfast was hold due to the Covid-19, but in other hotels nearby, the breakfast was available.

We just needed a place to rest our heads overnight. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Though there was a coffee machine in the room, they had coffee and hot chocolate available in the lobby all day. Location was just off the highway but was not noisy. The receptionist who checked us in was very nice. Thre hotels in Paso Robles and Atascadero were super expensive, even the run down motels. Hotel Buena Vista was only 30 miles down the highway at probably 1/2 the cost.

Loved how affordable, and close it was to down town. It was perfect and not too packed!

There’s nothing I didn’t like, but the air conditioning unit in the room was blocked by a table, and I had to move it for the air to hit the bed some what. Other than that, the property was perfect. I will definitely stay there again!

The room while dated were clean, beds were comfortable and the shower had decent water pressure. Walking distance to restaurants.

Very minor things. only one ice dispenser, phone to front desk didn’t work and there was a puddle of water right near our door. looks like it had come from cleaning with a hose but it was never brushed away.

The room was great Very clean. Very spacious and had everything we needed. Front desk in the office was very sweet and had such great service. I had a great experience for being my first time staying.

I didn't like that you had to share the same balcony as the other room. We didn't feel comfortable going out there being that we didn't know if we had someone in the next room. Other then that nothing to complain about.

The value was quite good. Quiet, clean, nice rooms, affordable. The rating didn't do the hotel justice, but it seems like they are honest with their ratings unlike some places that probably try to boost their own rating. My trip highlighted not to trust a hotel by its rating.
