The Cartwright Hotel, Union Square BW Premier Collection

I am giving this a good score because the staff at the property were very nice especially the lady staff, she made the guest feel comfortable, I was traveling alone and this hotel located downtown SF which is kind of scary, but being treated so good made me feel secure and happy! excellent customer service

There’s a cockroach in my room, I am sorry I have to mention this because I have never encounter this on any hotel in the US.

Great location for spending few days in San Francisco. The hotel is 2 min walking from Union Sq and it's well connected to the airport by train (BART). The room met my expectation, it was clean with a large bathroom. The staff is kind and always willing to help. Bags can be left at reception before/after check-in/out.

Really lovely traditional lobby and communal areas, with friendly very polite and helpful staff. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was small but manageable, helped to have the dressing area Good location, and was walkable to the piers etc. we didn’t notice any homeless near the hotel, but elsewhere yes. I think for the price its excellent, we had a lovely stay.

The only negative was the occasional noise of the room doors closing loudly and people talking at normal volume during night hours, but thats the fault of inconsiderate guests and not the hotel, otherwise we found no noise from the streets outside.

Steve, Ed and his sister ensures i got most of the things I needed. Was worried it will be cold as the temp in my country average 29 deg while it is 13 degree here but the room heater was good. Bed was comfy and room was quiet enough that I slept till noon on my 2nd night even though I am a light sleeper. Bathroom/toilet was retro and cute but slightly small but good enough for us-just that the bathroom mirror slightly higher than my 1.56 ht so can't really see myself when I floss.. But there is a vanity room with a big mirror and my room mate happily did her makeup there each morning. One of my major concern before booking any hotel was safety, saw a few homeless which was much much lesser than i expected and none approached me so I felt safe and definitely will go back to this hotel.

It would be good to hav a small fridge as my strawberry turns bad after 2 days but I was aware there is no fridge when I booked it

They are very friendly and the room is fair for the price and location. Old building but I liked. Looks like almost part the hotels on Europe. I love this "Old Spirit". Location is just a few foots of Union Square and few blocks of China Town. Good pick and I will pick again in future. Btw Pets are very Welcome! I bring my farm Border Collie to his first visit to the city! He never used leash before and was very scary with city sounds, but on hotel he was feeling like home, quiet and everybody look him like a little brother. Was Amazing!

The room is very cleaned but under the desk table was very dust I understand that is hard area to clean. I'm old school farmer son, so this is not a big deal for me but keep the advice guys! You are still amazing!

The hotel is centrally located and I chose it because I had an important personal morning business meeting on Sutter Street 10 minutes close walking. It was also advertised as having an office space for remote workers, so this was an important factor because I knew I'd probably need to have some additional documents printed. Although the printer needs to be updated & was jammed when attempting to use, the accommodating helpful staff was able to complete the printing task for me. It would have been great to tackle this on my own without needing front desk assistance, but I'm thankful for the outcome. There was good lighting and a desk in my room that was useful. There is easy access to hop on the cable car nearby to reach the BV with ease. My room had all the amenities I needed...except a small fridge that I would have used to be able to put OJ, yogurt, water, fruit, coffee creamer and morning basics so I didn't need to go out to eat breakfast while working. THE WIFI WORKS! There is a nice alcove area within the room to put your suitcase, hang clothing, plug in your coffee/tea pot, with a useful countertop for your belongings. Coffee is provided....I brought my own teabags and used the coffee tray for brewing. THE COMFORTABLE QUEEN BED HAD CLEAN WHITE SHEETS AND FLUFFY PILLOWS!!! Great night's rest...for sure! The comfort is there for you, but if you are not adaptable to "City Noises" ....bring your earplugs. The white shower towels were actually clean, fluffy and freshly white! That's a good thing! Also, there were make-up remover packets and I was happy because I forgot to pack mine.....and a hair dryer was provided. My room didn't have a view, was spacious enough, had a window in the bathroom, mini bedside reading lights, plug outlets near bedside to recharge nightly and was CLEAN!!!

My room entry access card didn't work the second time I tried to use it and I only had one. Maybe test check these prior to redistributing to new incoming guests. The front desk issued me new cards immediately.

A vintage hotel with recently renovated rooms which were very comfortable for a short tourism and business trip and provided everything we could want for a place to stay for the week. There's even a cosy fireplace right in the lobby! The location of the hotel is right next to the Union Square, which puts it really close to the downtown and convention centres of the city, as well as Chinatown and nearby piers. The staff of the hotel was incredibly friendly, and the pricing was a great deal during a conference week when compared to other hotels in the area.

Understandably, daily room service and breakfast were not available due to the on-going situation with COVID. If we end staying at the hotel during a future event, we really look forward to seeing all of it's amenities back up and running! Some upgrades to the rooms such as including mini-fridges and tea pots would also be welcome.

We stayed for 3 nights and the bed was probably the most comfortable, softest bed I have ever slept in - amazing! Our room was at the front of the hotel so I feared street noise, but actually it was so quiet considering the location in a city. It was nice waking up to hear the bell of the trolley cars going by the end of the road. The location is perfect for walking around the Union Square area and in close proximity are many options for food and drink. The hotel also smelled fresh and clean.

Nothing to dislike.

Very lovely and efficient staff!! always greeted with a hello any time we entered the property. Such perfect location to everything- walking distance to everything we wanted to do and easy access to public transport options!! Beds were veryyyy comfortable too! This place was perfect for a short 3 day stay!!

Very small bathroom but that’s alright because we knew what we were getting in to. However the door of bathroom was see through so there was little privacy. Also our ceiling fan would squeak loudly when on High setting. But other than that all was good!

Very nice and accommodating staff and a great location near union square. We could reach a lot of sights and activities in San Francisco in walking distance or easily via public transport directly in front of and near the hotel.

Relatively small bed and windows facing a brick wall. Clean enough, but the room had no fridge or safe. The walls of our room looked like there was a fire in the hall some time ago.
