Samesun San Francisco

The room I stayed in was very big and had a small balcony, which was nice. Each bed has an individual light, a USB port, and a curtain for some privacy There is a private bathroom in the room. The free breakfast is a nice bonus. It's cereals, yoghurt and fruits. They also have free coffee and tea. A good way to start the day. The house is in a good location, close to a few public transport options. You can reach all the important sightseeing locations within half an hour by bus. There is the option to store your luggage for the day when you check out. The staff at reception was friendly and helpful.

There is no fully equipped kitchen, so there is no chance to do some cooking. In a city as expensive as San Francisco, that's a bit of a problem. The bunk beds are very shaky. Whenever one person would move, the person in the other bed would feel the bed move, which is a bit annoying at night.

Very clean. Safe location. Spectacular staff! They are so kind and so helpful and so friendly, and you can just tell its genuine. Spacious dorm rooms with balcony. Individual outlets for each bed and they work! :D There's always oat milk in the fridge in the morning for coffee and the rest of the day for making your own hot drinks.

There are two small inconveniences that really pale next to how great the vibe is here. One is there's a small kitchen for storing food but no stove for cooking. And the wifi is weak/non-existent at times on the patio. Again, only important if these things are critical for someone but really don't outweigh all the really great things.

This is a large hotel with mainly pack-packers. We booked a double room which was certainly spacious and suited our needs. It also included a balcony with views of The Golden Gate! Very handy for Fisherman's Wharf and the famous Lombard St steps just two blocks away. Good bathroom and good Wi-Fi. The staff in the lobby could not have been more helpful and extremely obliging.

The breakfast was, in a word, basic. Cereal, toast, oranges and yogurt but that was more or less it. Also the breakfast room was crowded most mornings and seats at a premium. However, this was the only let down on what is a good hotel at a really good price.

Location is great, super convenient. Staff is friendly and helpful. They have 2 parking lots (limited spots), which is extremely helpful if you're going to SF by car. I found the price for a bed in a mixed 4-bunk beds bedroom quite fine.

Three things I can point out that weren't great are: 1) the pillow they offer; only 1 and very thin. I believe only a few people would find that adequate. And most of us don't travel with a pillow of your own 2) Breakfast is included BUT it is extremely limited. They offer cereal, milk, coffee, oatmeal, water, tangerine and yogurt. Do not expect a big meal right at the hostel before you hit the city. 3) There are no lockers under each bed for your bags (at least there were none in my room). Other hostels I have been too had that kind of as a default, and wouldn't even charge for a lock.

Great location! Was close to some tourist spots either on foot or easily accessible by public transport. It used to be a regular hotel which has been converted into a hostel which has its perks, like an elevator, private bathrooms, hair drier in the room, ice machine (if you need it), a ramp to wheel your luggage. Things like that. It was indeed very clean. The beds were comfortable enough and blankets were warm. The room had an AC / heater which was nice. The room was also a good size which was good, it didn't feel crowded. And our room even had a balcony which would be nice to use in a warm weather. The place is close enough to some great pubs but also remote enough to be quiet at night.

It didn't have that hostel vibe. The common area is a lobby which is not very inviting for socializing in the first place. In addition, because of covid, people are not allowed to have any food or drinks in the common area which is not the hostel's fault but I feel like even when it's allowed people wouldn't socialize much in that area. It doesn't feel very welcoming. There were not enough power outlets in the room. There was one behind my bed but it wasn't accessible unless you move the bed but you're not allowed to move the beds. So, that's something they didn't think through.

Perfect location. We could do almost everything by foot or cable car. Many restaurants in the area. The room was clean and comfortable. The free parking is a big bonus.

When we got in the room it was really hot although the heater was off (27degC in December and not that warm outside), I don't know why... When we started the AC, the temperature got better. It would be nice to have the AC on previously to avoid that though. On the contrary, it was difficult to get warm water in the shower. That was okay but I prefered to postpone my hair wash due to that.

We had a private room which was very spacious and had a fridge which was needed with the hot weather.

The bathroom is a bit old school but was no issue to us.

The location was pretty good to explore San Francisco by feet. As well you have a parking lot what is gold, but you have to keep in mind big cars need a good driver since you have not so much space in the upper deck (check the lower one) Amazing was our checkin the lady that was on desk was so kind and nice (sorry, forgot the name, we arrived 23.6.23 around 11) even working alone and having a hard time she gave a smile and helped with all kind of questions.

The noise from the street was a big thing... try to get rooms away from the street. Even if you are missing out the view for Golden Gate Bridge. Earplugs come free, what tells a story about noise. This was the reason not to rate 10 out of 10.

I was a little worried before we arrived because the hotel was one of the cheapest in the area. Eventually, it turned out to be one of the best decisions we took during our San Francisco trip. We booked a double bed room with private bathroom and even though it might seem a little outdated, it got everything we needed for a 10 days stay: generous and clean space, large bed with comfy mattress, fridge, a safe and TV. At this price point, Samesun is probably one of the best options in the city. The staff was very helpful at all times and I have to mention the area in which the hotel is located which is fantastic.

A little noise from the cars on the street, but the hotel is providing ear plugs, so not really an issue for us.

It was one of the best hostels that I stayed at. Staff is great, rooms are clean and localization is perfect! They serve breakfast in the morning for 1 hour, with few options, but good still. The hotel is close to the best touristic sites and with Muni Stops very near which can take you to the whole city. It was a great stay, even sharing the room. But if you are by yourself, this is a great opportunity to make some friends from every single part of world and make your stay better. They have a little lobby where you can eat, chill or even work, as I did in some days of my trip. I definitely recommend Samesun to everyone who wants to enjoy SF.
