Hampton Inn San Diego/Del Mar

We were only minutes away from where we needed to be which was great. Had handicapped parking in a great place. Room was nice and was kept cool, clean. Offer breakfast and coffee and hot water in lobby all day.

We were irrítated by their policy of having to call guest services to schedule room cleaning. This information should be discussed as part of the check in process and not just a sticker on the bathroom mirror. I am sure there is a reason for this but if we were told at check in l would have requested it right then.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was actually decent. I have food allergies (gluten, dairy, bananas, apples + more) so hotel breakfasts usually have nothing I can eat. I was happy to find cheerios (gluten free), and hot breakfast items. It would be nice if the eggs never had cheese on them (dairy allergy), but at least the potatoes and breakfast meats were always an option and were good. And I appreciated that the eggs and meats were different every day, so there was only 1 day with cheesy eggs that I couldn't eat. The fridge in the room meant I could bring my own almond milk so I was able to have cereal + milk like everyone else. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and we all got a good night's sleep every night. There aren't many dinner options within walking distance, but at least the hotel was right off the freeway and convenient to both work meetings in Poway and visiting friends in PB.

The wifi timed out after a certain amount of time so we had to keep logging in. I would always love more gluten-free and dairy-free choices for breakfast.

The front desk staff was amazing. They made us feel so welcome. Every morning came from around the desk to greet my 1yr old granddaughter and make her feel like a princess. We arrived at midnight and Lee made everything easy for us to get in the room to get some rest. Lee and the staff were so accommodating. The breakfast was good with many options to choose from. The location was convenient to the major highways making it easy to get to all the beautiful places to visit in San Diego. This will be our go to place to stay for us anytime will visit the area.

The staff was extremely accommodating and polite. The room was very clean and comfortable. And I enjoy having to request the housekeeping service. Although I did not have breakfast each day, I really normally love the breakfasts. And finally, I really liked the convenience of the location.

There were several things I wasn't expecting during my stay. The first was having to pay extra for parking. I have frequented other Hampton Inns and didn't have to in other locations. There was construction in the area and thus, the room was loud in the morning. And finally, I was unable to use my husband's (our family's) Hilton Honors number and had to get my own.

Breakfast was perfect they had many options for my children. Room was very clean, so was the hotel in general. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again. Neighborhood seemed good it wasn't to bad honestly.

Parking was hard to get if arrived late to the hotel we had to park on the street next to the other hotels. But honestly it wasn't to bad. People make it sound like this is a big deal and it really isn't. Only thing was I did talk to the clerk every night to tell them where I did park and at the end of check out I still got charged parking fees. I called the hotel after we checked out and reviewed the receipt and the hotel fixed the mistake immediately. It wasn't a big problem. Very nice staff.

Staff were professional and gave good prompt service. Good hot breakfast. Fridge, coffee and microwave in room.

Room assigned was a handicap access room with roll in shower, no bathtub, couldnt get it changed as hotel was booked. Parking was a separate fee by the day, not included in room rate. Door lock from garage to elevator was malfunctioning, wouldn't open with room key, had to walk a block uphill around exterior carrying luggage to access lobby elevator. Had computers and printer in lobby but couldn't get it to print, had to send documents from phone to front desk printer.

Good location for northern SD County. One bedroom suite was very spacious, including a second half-bath. Good choices for breakfast. Underground gated parking was a plus. Coffee and tea were available throughout the day.

Air conditioning/heating unit was VERY noisy. Blew curtains into the room. Cleanliness was fair. There was a disposable contact lens on the bathroom floor, which told me that the floor had not been thoroughly cleaned before we got there. Would have been useful if the mini-fridge had a freezer section for our blue ice.

I do like this hotel for comfort and quality. Good location for family business we attend to monthly.

Upon departure the male desk agent declined my request for a bottle of water. He said only gold and Diamond members can get a free water. Pretty sure Hilton can afford to give me a bottle of water if I ask and I just paid 200.00 for the night b

The hotel was packed the evening of my stay. Even so, the hotel was quiet. In the morning, the breakfast area was well stocked and had lots of options, despite being so full I ended up eating in the overflow area in the lobby. The room was clean, spacious, and the temperature controls were easy to operate and were effective.

There was a welcome sign for the dogs that were staying at the hotel and a clean bowl of water at the entrance, but the pet relief area was substantially lacking. The pet relief area is off at the far end of the hotel where the hotel property meets a poorly kept empty lot. The pet area has terrible lighting; it's very creepy at night and you could easily be snuck up on. It's also a dusty patch of dirt, which, in turn, makes your dog dusty and dirty. The poopy bag dispenser was also empty. Parking is really tight. Arriving late at night, there were only a few spaces available and the spots are so narrow, that a few of the empty parking places were too narrow for a mid-size SUV, because other non-compact cars spilled over the lines; they weren't poorly parked, either.
