The Palo Alto Inn

This motel was a convenient 15 min to travel to and from Stanford Hospital. I felt safe while my husband spent the night in the hospital after surgery.

The room was big enough and comfortable. It smelt nice when I came in and it was fairly clean. It is nice to have a fridge and a microwave in the room too.

The neighbours (both upstairs and next door) where insufferable. You could hear children running around, loud TVs (both of these even past 10pm) and people being very inconsiderate and even calling their family at 7:40am by using the car horn several times and several days in a row. The AC had problems turning on sometimes as it got stuck in a loop. The lighting was a bit insufficient in my opinion, as the room is a bit dark.

Very clean rooms. You could walk barefoot within the grounds if it wasn't so cold during winter. The self-help food was good for packing into day trips. Parking is excellent. Very clean, uncluttered lot. If it is raining and you're lucky, you could snag the only covered lot there. It works better for smaller cars, I tried to reverse my rental SUV in during a rainy day, but it looked like it wouldn't fit. Overall, I enjoyed the stay. The location is pretty convenient. If you are driving, Grocery Outlet, Peet's Coffee, Palo Alto Caltrain station(avoid riding from San Antonio station as it is a minor stop and many trains skip past it) are nearby.

On-site laundromat was closed, it was not published. This was a core reason why I chose Palo Alto Inn, so I could do laundry onsite. The self-help food was not always available at early hours of the morning before 8am or past sundown. (winter hours during Christmas week, for context)

I liked the size of the room. I liked the front garden area, and that daily services to clean and exchange towels... I like there was provided a powerplug adapter.

The worst was the noise on the room above (I was told it was carpet but the noise of each step was of old wood). The price rate (very expansive) relative to the services / room, and even I found it cheaper through booking versus the group rate given. No breakfast. The minibar was freezing everything inside.

This place was a very good choice. Check-in went extremely quick and the guy at the reception was outstandingly friendly and attentive. I was already greeted by name and he had everything ready so I was done in less than a minute. Even the room was preheated. There were free beverages which was very nice after arriving from a long journey. The room as such was in a great condition. There were enough hangers in the closet, toiletries got restocked daily and cleanliness overall was very good. Can give a 100% recommendation and would definitely stay here again.

The only thing is that some light switches are really difficult to locate. Don't have anything negative to say otherwise. It's a good hotel

I had a ground floor room below the stairs to the second level and there was quite a bit of noise as other guests retired to their rooms. Unfortunately this set my dog off. next time I would request to not be by the stairs.

Equipped and managed with love for detail - SO DIFFERENT from all these places that rent you ugly and run-down rooms for high prices. The Palo Alto Inn is an unbelievable value for money, starting with a lovely front desk and not ending with real flowers and a complementary bottle of wine in the clean, pretty and nicely smelling room. So far the best motel experience we had in the US (and we had quite a few). Very nice neighborhood, too.

Rooms are a little small and sometimes you hear the road and/or neighbours. But both not to an extent that would have bothered usl.

Spacious room, comfortable bed, free parking, and excellent reception staff. The room had a TV and a small fridge. The small desk was usable for light work. The area and the establishment both felt perfectly safe.

Lots of long hairs in the bathroom from previous guests (yuck!), insuficient lighting, and not so great sound insulation. Patchy Wi-Fi connection that kept on dropping and required frequent reconnection. There was a persistent parfum-like odor.

Room was clean and equipped with all necessary things as coffee maker, small fridge, table with chair for working. Bed was very comfortable, bathroom clean. Got free bottle of water every day. There is a bike to use if you need. The patio is very nice and good for chill or work. Good wifi connection. Stuff is very friendly.

It's next to main road, so a bit noisy if you are not used to the cars.

Loved this property! Great reception staff! Cute common gathering area with chairs, lounges, umbrellas, etc. Several snack and drink offerings "since we don't offer breakfast.". They want to increase the value for us guests...very thoughtful! And they remind you to take all the snacks you want upon check-in, and then there are some snacks and drinks in your room as well! Great touch!!! Had a little trouble getting wifi to work, but staff offered an alternate password that worked on the first try (user error, perhaps, on my part!). King bed was great! Shower and amenities were super! Fridge and microwave and coffee maker as well! I would stay again!
