Carlsbad by the Sea Hotel

The room was clean, I walked around in my white socks and they were still white. Had good A/C comfortable beds and I had asked for extra pillows and they were there in the room when I arrived. It was my 3 children and I and the hot water in the shower never ran out also had great water pressure. The second night the jacuzzi was working and the pool was clean. The pool area was absolutely beautiful with nice covered and uncovered chaise as well as plenty of clean towels pool side.

The first night we arrived the pool was not very clean and the Jacuzzi wasn't working. When I inquired about the jacuzzi I was told it would be working soon. When we began to unpack I discovered that there is some kind of severe warp in the floor in our room (253) as the drawers kept opening. We finally propped suitcase against them. On the second night I had to go get fresh towels from the check in area. The wifi went out that second night and was still not working when I checked out the next day. This was a bit of an inconvenience as I had a 2 hour conference call the next morning so instead of using my laptop I had to use my phone. I also received no check out receipt because their computers weren't working with no internet. I thought maybe I'd get an emailed one but no such luck.

Quiet, family oriented, Convenient Location ,facilities , restaurants nearby, staff always very helpful, solves any issues right away.

Stay here all the time but most of the beds could be replaced, sinks in the middle or squeaky, floor wasn't clean, gave me dirty feet, had them clean room next day and so much better. Have had trouble in past with shower rumbling, had them fix it while out, but this stay our neighbor had that noise. So obviously hotel has some plumbing issues still. Wish they had some light healthy breakfast options besides box cereal. No microwave, that's essential in hotels to warm up leftovers. Tree limbs laying right outside our patio probably leftover from recent hurricane.

The location was awesome. Across the road from an outlet, the flower fields and some amazing places to eat. Only a short shuttle drive (free from the hotel) to Legoland which was the main reason for our visit. They also offer a free shuttle into Carlsbad Village. The pool area was lovely even though it was cooler during our stay. Our room was quiet and a decent size. I liked how our back door opened directly into the pool area on the ground floor. The beds were also comfortable. The self-service laundry was an added bonus too.

The room had a mouldy smell upon entering. Not actually sure where it was coming from because everything looked clean. The bath/shower combo is in need of an update. And the pool heating wasn't working during our stay which meant it was too cold to swim. If it wasn't for the damp mouldy smell in our room I would have rated this place higher.

Front office staff. We got to the hotel around 8pm after a 7hrs road trip and the front desk person (asian lady) just came from the back office, didn’t said good evening or smiled or make any eye contact, she just asked if we had a reservation and asks for ID and a credit card. I’m sorry but I work in the hospitality industry and front desk staff should be more attentive with guest. unfortunately she was not the only one because there was 2 more gentlemen’s during the day shift who had same attitude. They should take some Customer Service training and try to apply the 5-10 rule.

The hotel is in a good area that during the day you can visit different areas such as the beach, theme parks like Legoland, near the San Diego Zoo, Carlsbad outlets and more

One of the things that I did not like was that the places to eat that are not fast food are not open after nine, I know that for many it is late but sometimes you need to eat at that time, one of the businesses that I found open late was Kotija Taco Shop and my experience was not good they were a bit rude I understand that it was already nine o'clock but since it was still open I thought I still had time to order food, the food was not bad but it was not the best either.

super dog friendly environment. Large round about parking lot has wide stripes of green with grass bushes shrubs etc in addition to a fenced courtyard with green grass and big trees, making walking a dog super easy, safe, and comfortable for the dog. Balcony to the courtyard is an added bonus for dog comfort -contentment. Old school, well worn property with glitches and slants - but clean, bright, comfortable. Friendly staff. would be a great place for a family or to stay as a jumping off spot for several days. Attached Food-Hall has lots of different options to choose from I had an awesome breakfast burrito and fantastic cinnamon roll. Was dark and quiet place to sleep !!!!

nothing bad to say at all- except, got charged an additional $13.00 for parking that I thought was included

The patio was a nice touch you can sit outside your room and enjoy some fresh air. The refrigerator had a nice size freezer and we were able to frezee 5 bottles of water and tea for our trip home. Also liked that the Hotel was only a six minute drive to Legoland.

The only thing that we did not like was the shower something with the pressure made the pipe rattle in the wall and made a really loud noise in the room not sure if you could hear it outside or in neighboring rooms. Also the hot water did not last long.

The staff was very polite and profesional . I felt heard and helped with everything I needed . Loved that the offered coffee and creamer in lobby along with a very friendly staff .

The coffee was great but the lids didn’t fit the cups properly and came off once on . I felt I should have mentioned it but I had already left. It happened twice once when I grabbed a coffee at check in and once at check out , only mentioned it to try to save someone from burning themselves .

Everything was the best I had experienced. The staff was great, everyone has the best customer service, they were accomidating for every need that we had during our stay and more. I could not have asked for a better experience, I am extremely grateful for all the staff, they all were very interaction with all, and very pleasant. Shuttle driver were exceptional as well and great too. Every employee at carlsbad by the sea hotel were exceptional in every way.. I want to thank every employee that i interacted with at the hotel and the shuttle drivers too. Thank you so much for a great exoerience.

we love the location! the employees at the front desk were so nice and welcoming!! I loved they provided snacks at the front for a few dollars and the free water was awesome!!! if you don’t want the noise from the pool make sure you book a room on the other side otherwise the pool side rooms are nice and close to the pool! I love the free balls too for the pool! such a great place, and the coffee is a great addition too!!! coffee maker in the rooms and lobby!!

you could hear the doors slam but it’s not too loud but you still hear it.
