Hotel Indigo - Birmingham Five Points S - UAB, an IHG Hotel

Staff were excellent, friendly , helpful. Breakfast was good . Very good central location.

The sink didn’t drain in the bathroom. The sheets didn’t look that fresh . I did ask but they werent changed . For the price of room , felt there could have been daily housekeeping. I had to buy drinking water because the water from the cold tap was warm and tasted odd.

I loved the apothecary theme. The room was well decorated and had a great view. The hotel is located about 10 minutes from all the best places in the city. There are things to do all around the hotel. They seemed short staff , but the staff they did have was sweet. I would definitely stay here again

The elevator would randomly stop working multiple times during my stay probably once or twice a day. Breakfast not worth it. There is a parking garage behind the hotel, but it would be nice if they had some kind of deal worked out with the garage.

I really loved the location of this hotel being in 5 Points. We were in walking distance to dining and bars.

The room and overall hotel didn't look exactly like the pictures online and thus was a bit pricey that weekend to not exceed expectations. Also, there was dining on site however the menu was very limited.

Good location, comfortable bed , the staff were very kind and professional

Noisy room due to the second floor window facing main street, the air conditioner did not get the room cool enough, no breakfast, price of the room was a little high considering there was no breakfast and the aforementioned issues with the air conditioner and noise

The inclusive hotel breakfast is made by the kindest woman who makes her food with love! The rest of the hotel staff are all extremely sweet and accommodating. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Birmingham just because of them!

Due to Covid, the hours of the dining area were not upheld which was frustrating when trying to eat quickly + meet my work deadline. Can’t speak for the food or drink which were highly rated by other guests (only had the inclusive breakfast) but appreciated the 24 hour access to fresh premade salads and other snacks in the lobby, as well as walking distance to all the best Birmingham spots. Also beware the thin walls! The building itself is very old, to no fault of the hotel itself, as I personally think the history adds to its charm except for when you’re trying to sleep and can hear every word uttered by passing guests and staff members.

In all my travels I’ve never come across a more accommodating staff - from the valet to the chefs to the front desk to the custodians, everyone was so genuinely warm and welcoming that I extended my stay. Special thanks to Dakiecia who was so understanding when I was sleep deprived and desperate to check in several hours early, to the valet who held the door open for me whenever I grabbed my morning coffee, the breakfast chef who greeted everyone in the dining area with a warm smile, and everyone else who made my short stay feel like home! Thank you and I hope to be back soon.

Minor complaints: dining area did not follow listed hours (mostly due to business being slow bc Covid - dinner service often being 1.5 hours late but plenty of great places to eat within walking distance, bartender was extremely kind but wine glasses weren’t the cleanest and the white wine I ordered wasn’t refrigerated, the walls are extremely thin due to the building itself being renovated from the 1930’s so you can hear all conversations and activity from the hallway/neighboring rooms - thankfully I’m a heavy sleeper so it was fine)

We were pleasantly surprised with the hotel's "Medical" theme as the building once was a hospital. The choice of furniture, colors and the pictures on the wall. Loved the staffs uniforms which consisted of lab coats for the front desk agent and scrubs for the housekeeping staff. They even had syringe pens! It is a historical/University town and everyone was away for the holidays, so it was pretty quiet.

Location was nice you have a lot of restaurants near you and i felt safe. Breakfast was okay. It a breakfast not much to expect we only had it once out of three day i am pretty sure it was available everyday our time frame just didn’t work out with breakfast time

How they handed my reservations. I booked it trough booking.com by there rate after I needed to change the date switch Sunday for Thursday and calling property on Thursday they say they can do it but price would be 10$ higher i accepted it but the price was on the end 120$ higher. Dont think that i would be staying at this place ever again just because on the end it wasn’t worth my money

We loved the location. A specific amenity we loved was valet parking. Never having to worry about finding a place to park was awesome. We were in Birmingham to shoot a wedding. As photographers it was nice not having to unload expensive gear unnecessarily since the parking is secure. The staff was also always friendly and helpful.

We loved everything about our stay. The only negative is the temp in the room doesn’t get as cool as I would like but overall it was an excellent stay.

The property location makes it walkable to 5 Points bars and restaurants, UAB and downtown. great business destination with plenty of public transit option.

Parking is expensive. Its almost cheaper to park on the street than in any of the parking lots nearby.
