Breakfast was superb and the lad who was serving (I think he is the manager) was very professional and helpful.

Entertainment on the Friday night was really Lound and carried on to.after midnight. On the Saturday we made our way back to the hotel intending to have our evening meal there, but we're informed that there was no food available as there was a problem with the kitchen. Also we booked the deluxe room unfortunately the bed was extremely lumpy , think a upgrade on the mattress is required.

We arrived late because of a train delay, even if late they gentle waited us even after more than 30 min later to the check-in time slot. We were enthusiastic about the people we meet in the pub in the evening, very friendly and so happy. Room was very big and very comfy, especially the bed. The location is perfect at it is basically in the centre of York. Moreover, a pint before going to bed is always a good night!

If I have to find something to correct, we have only used one as the second morning we were in rush, the breakfast selection.

Fantastic location in a historic pub/B&B. Room was spacious and clean with a large en suite bathroom. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Delicious English breakfast.

Rooms face a busy street with a lot of other restaurants and pubs, so it can be pretty noisy with both traffic and pedestrians. With the windows closed, it was perfectly quiet, but the only way to ventilate the room was to open a window, which meant having to hear a lot of the street noise. I recommend including a fan in the room so that guests can sleep with the windows closed, but still have some breeze.

The location was perfect for touring York The room was large and airy. The morning staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was tasty and plentiful.

When we arrived, it was at around 7 o'clock in the evening, the reception for accommodation is at the bar , which was quite busy when we arrived, there was only one person working so it took a while to check in. Whatever fabric conditioner they use for their bedding and their towels had an overpowering and unpleasant smell, maybe they could look at this They main light in the room can only be accessed by standing on the bed.

I took my granddaughter Lilly for a shortbreak, and the staff couldn't have been nicer or made us more welcome. The room was a good size and comfortable with a large bathroom. The refreshment tray was full and refilled the following day. The breakfast was excellent. Top floor was away from pub noise.

The over bath shower wasn't working in our room, number 4, but we preferred a bath to a walk-in shower that was available in room number 3. Being top floor, there was a plumbing pump system that was quite noisy when water was running and a bit smelly when bath water drained out.

Lovely, friendly staff who made you feel very welcome. Room was ideal for an overnight stay. The choices for breakfast were great, including a vegetarian option. The venue is in a very good location for everything you want to explore in York. Room price (including breakfast) couldn't be faulted. Enjoyed our stay and would return when revisiting York.

The only thing was the traffic noise as our room was roadside, but it didn't stop us eventually getting to sleep, and as York is a busy tourist attraction, it was to be expected.

not much not to like: while in bed one night the bathroom door swung open and slammed into the wall with a bang making my wife and myself wake with a fright. all windows closed and nothing to explain why this would happen. spooky, also wardrobe door opened at some point during the night.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, and a full breakfast was provided. The location was excellent, just yards from the art museum and the gate into the walled city. There’s a market a block away for any necessities, and so many interesting destinations within walking distance. There are also lots of restaurant choices nearby.

The big disadvantage of the property is the lack of reasonably priced parking. We ended up parking in a residential area about a 20 minute walk from the inn, as we didn’t need a car while we were staying in York.

We stayed on a Monday and it was very quiet. A nice big bar area. Staff were incredibly helpful (shout out to Claire and Winny). They let us store our bikes in the cellar and kept our bags in the office even after we’d checked out. Our top floor room was big and nicely laid out. Shower was fantastic. Maybe the mattress was a bit too soft. Breakfast was included and it could feed an army. It’s a characterful place, if you’re looking for something other than Premier Inn beige. Recommended.

the best thing about this place was the location, right in the heart of the city, it was never any trouble to find our way back. The staff were helpful & friendly, the room & bathroom were spacious & comfortable with all the facilities you would need. The breakfast was freshly cooked & tasty with vegetarian options available. Overall great value for money.

The decor was a little tired & rough around the edges & the shower need the tap running first in order for the water to get hot but considering what you get for the price we can't complain.
