Lovely sea view and sunset view from room 7. Breakfast top notch. Evening meal also very good. Bar is fantastic and beer garden, drinks reasonably priced. Room: fine, just a few finer details need attention. Bed comfy, shower great.

The area of seascale literally has nothing there apart from a beautiful beach to watch the sun set . There's nowhere else to go or to eat nearby (walking distance). One co-op, 3 takeaways. Seemed like the Calder house is the main attraction in the town. I chose it as a base for the lake District but it's an hour's drive from Keswick. Ravenglass is close and has a nice miniature train ride.

All the staff were friendly and helpful. We had a meal out in the garden overlooking the beach on the evening we arrived and it was beautiful. The food and the view. Cajun chicken starter was well presented and tasty with a lovely creamy whipped do and salad. Pork belly starter was eaten so quickly I didn't need to ask if it was nice! The hunters chicken included plenty of BBQ sauce and cheese, a very well crisped thick piece of bacon (no fatty bits floating around) and the thickest home made chips and some lovely fresh salad. Perfect. Scampi was beautifully cooked and again came with fresh salad and home made chips. Great to sit out and enjoy our food with the sound of the sea after a long drive. Our room had a lovely bay window with wifey opening windows to let in a great breeze when needed. 2 comfy chairs to sit and read and just look out to sea (right across to the Isle of Man at the right time of day!). The bed was firm which was great for my bad back. All clean and lovely warm duvet with a thin throw if you preferred a lighter cover. The wardrobe and drawers are old and in need of a bit of love really but are large and hold plenty of stuff so you can keep the room tidy. The lamps bedside the bed fitted in well though only one worked and I forget to mention that to the staff to be honest. I'm sure they would've popped a new bulb in if I had! There's a little heater in the wardrobe in case it gets cold and an iron and full ironing board. A hairdryer in the drawer (worked very well) and the little kettle on the side with coffee and tea was a welcoming addition after a walk on the beach. The bath was so deep I needed help getting it after a nice long soak! I did have to wait for my bath as there was no hot water during the day so I waited till around 5pm and managed to half fill it (more than enough with his deep it is!).

I have mobility problems and there are stairs everywhere here. Up to the rooms, down to the bar... Though I reduced this by going outside and walking down the car park slope to get to the garden! The stairs are not deep and there is a good bannister rail, but it may be difficult for some to access everywhere properly.

The position right on the sea front - and especially the view of the sea & sky from the bedroom - was amazing. Staff really friendly. Decent homely food, with good cooked breakfast options. Snooker room & pool table were a great addition, which we would have definitely made more use of if we’d had time. Nice bright decor in room.

Could’ve done with some hooks in the en-suite, as there was nowhere to hang things. Bathroom was a little old/tired feeling in general. Bed was very obviously two twins pushed together - comfy beds, but would’ve benefitted from a mattress topper or something to cover the join as that part was quite uncomfortable. Could’ve done with some water glasses in the room.

The location is perfectly positioned for young families to dog owners due to direct beach access through the back garden so no need to worry about roads. There is a wide section of choices on the menu and plenty of room to relax after a nice day out. It is a pleasure knowing your four legged friend is as welcome as your children and family.

Huge room with a very comfy super king bed and sofa bed. Great location by the sea, with a generous garden and sturdy pub benches. Extremely friendly staff including the owner and her son at the bar. Snooker and pool table and darts board- a great addition. We also watched EPL on SkySports Very tasty breakfast included.

The bathroom cleaning can be improved. The shower was ok due to the electric instant mix, however we couldn't use the bath since it was hot water only and water was extremely hot.

Room had a beautiful view of the sea and was clean and spacious. Staff were friendly and accommodating to my gluten free diet in the restaurant.

No bottled water and only one glass in the room for a couple. When in the restaurant we weren’t told that kitchen has closed so could not order desert after we finished our main. This wasn’t explained to us when we sat down. Kitchen closes at 8.30pm which is very early & there aren’t many other places to eat in the area apart from takeaways.

The location just next to the beach and a train stop was great, the breakfast was great, but we would prefer bigger choice, the staff were very friendly and helpful

the sofa bed in family room was very uncomfortable, the room should have been with a street view but it was only with a wooden fence view - so no view at all, noises from the kitchen already early in the morning

Excellent food, really helpful and friendly staff. Brilliant location literally 2 mins from station on footpath. As for the sea views, there can’t be many better in Britain ! Great access to the beach, this is one of the best coastlines in the UK

The outside area as you come in from the road needs a tidy up. First impressions are so important and for some it will set the wrong one as the inside is totally fine.

Breakfast was good and kitchen service was excellent. We were glad the hotel served vegetarian sausage and non dairy milk. We took a seaview room and the view was very pleasant . Beach is accessible via an underpass just near the hotel - only takes 2 minutes to reach the beach.

Key card did not work (no issues as the key did work), minor water drip from skylight in bathroom.

Fantastic location, a quiet place with a direct sea view. A great tranquil place after a busy London. Every evening you do not miss the sunset :) You go to bed with a sea view, you wake up with a sea view - amazing! Tasty full English breakfast and friendly staff. About a 30-1 hour drive to all the beautiful spots of Lake District like Wast Water, and Coniston Water.
