The Inn At Lathones

The staff on arrival were very welcoming and helpful. We had 3 different rooms - an attic double (with a fire - major bonus!); a twin room (that was suitable for wheelchair access) - both facing the road and double in the courtyard. All rooms were a great size, some of the interiors were a little tired but generally 4.5/5. The food, the food - well you won't be disappointed. Starters of muscles, garlic mushrooms and baked Camembert were thoroughly enjoyed following by the most amazing locally caught haddock and chips. The portion did not warrant a starter. The breakfast menu was extensive - not like we have seen in a while - and all meals were excellently presented and tasted wonderful. The waiting staff were attentive and friendly and we wanted for nothing. The property is dog friend and they are very dog friendly indeed - thank you to Jack and his staff. Amazing - you won't regret staying at The Inn at Lathones.

The rooms were a little tired, everything worked perfectly, just some of the decoration needs attention. When you book a place in the countryside, you need to consider all aspect of the country side. There is a very 'friendly' cockerel across the road who doesn't like long lies - that said, there are free range eggs for sale to take the sting out of an early alarm call.

Lovely staff, always working hard to ensure you are well looked after. The location was great for us, St Andrews is a 15 minute drive and there’s a wealth of nearby coastal villages to visit and enjoy the coastal path walks. The menu is quite extensive and should suit most tastes but may be a bit lacking for vegetarians or vegans if you’re stopping for more than a few days.

The exterior is looking a bit dated and the noise transmission between rooms is noticeable, it is pet friendly if there’s a yappy dog in the bar It can get a bit annoying.

Friendly, professional staff: couldn't be better! Vegetarian breakfast was cooked really well (not always the case in hotels). Excellent restaurant (with vegetarian choices). Large room with balcony / large bathroom with bath and shower.

Just one suggestion as we like fresh air during the night: an opening window or air-conditioning would have helped us sleep. There is a sliding door but felt uncomfortable at the thought of leaving that open.

We had a superior double room with a patio and it was so lovely. clean, comfortable and we loved the spa tub. Our dog was very welcome and there was never any time if felt uncomfortable to have the dog with us. everyone was so helpful and friendly. staff are amazing and food was excellent. So welcoming, we will definitely stay again.

Genuinely struggling to think of anything- if pushed the paintwork outside the inn would be bonnie freshened up, but it’s been a hard winter and the Inns on a busy road, be very difficult to stay pristine white.

The staff were absolutely lovely, very welcoming and friendly throughout our stay. The food was great and the menu is very varied, there is definitely something for everyone. Our room was very large and very clean. There was a large walk in shower and a jacuzzi bath. The Inn is also dog friendly and it was so nice to have our little dog with us. She was also very much welcomed and well looked after!

Nothing, we didn’t find fault with anything.

Liked hotel in general, room was very nice and comfortable.

Considering it's in the country there is no were to walk, just a very busy and fast moving vehicles whizzing past. Breakfast was a let down, very basic, no cereals, fried egg in the full breakfast should never have been put on the plate it was literally burnt to a crisp, got no apology just the offer of another one but was too late in offering.

lovely place, amazing staff a credit to there employer, was nice and peaceful, the food was amazing, best I have had in a while, delicious, and my favourite part was the privacy not having cameras everywhere u look, this made me so relaxed, and homey, would have stayed longer If didn't have to get bk for the cats lol, thanks again. No fridge in room, but was loads of room for one, so was only pain as warm water not that nice lol Amazon stick wouldn't work in tv. For our netflix, We like to watch tv to fall asleep and was no signal for it, and free view was pretty boring Kind regards, Helen

The staff were all exceptional, very friendly and welcoming, they are a huge asset to the hotel chain and very hard working. The food was amazing excellent and a good choice on all three courses, the dinning room was really lovely with an open log fire and beamed rafters on the high ceiling. Again the breakfast menu had a good variety of choice, the breakfast room and lounge bar area were also very pleasant again with open log fires. The Inn being over 400 years old is very quirky and has lots of character and the staff were quite informative as to some of it's history, the main building is well maintained. Comfortable beds clean linen and lovely soft bath sheets, good force of water in the shower. Excellent location for St Andrew's and surrounding area.

Good shower although very old, shower tray and fittings needed a good clean or replaced, radiator thermostat in bathroom broken so the radiator was up at high the entire time. All three windows urgently need replaced the wooden frames were totally rotten and the windows were nailed closed, I think as much as to hold the window frames in place as well as safety and the handles were all broken. There were no curtains only wooden venetian blinds that had seen better days.

The welcome was exceptionally good and very cheerful even though we were late! We had to leave early and the gentleman on reception accommodated that for us readily. He was also extremely helpful providing all the information we needed for the next day. The room and facilities were lovely I just wish we could have been there longer to take full advantage of them. It was very useful having a bus to St Andrews from outside the hotel.

The wooden floor was quite cold and very creaky (I guess that was just the age of the Inn!). A couple of rugs on the floor would have been nice for our feet!

The staff very very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to ensure we had a great stay. Breakfast was excellent, as good a breakfast as I have had. Obviously freshly cooked to order and now Luke warm from a buffet.

The only issue where the hotel did not fully meet our needs was the lack of grounds to allow us to exercise our small dog who stayed with us.
