We booked the last available room (name Hastings?) on a BH weekend, with lower expectations because of that. It's small but characterful and I loved the view over old rooftops. Some sound leaking from the bars below during the day/evening, but very quiet at night because the room is not overlooking the street. Good heavy curtains to keep light out. Breakfast in the bar was superb - enough to set you up for the day, and then some. While we were there the fish man arrived - so although we didn't eat there in the evening, we know the fish is fresh!

A couple of details in the bathroom needed seeing to - a loo roll holder that won't hold a loo roll without sliding off, for instance, and light cords difficult to find. Could also do with a shelf to dump your toiletries. In tight spaces clever design really makes a difference. Rickety old stairs might challenge some, though the lovely old handrail is solid!

Rooms are very comfortable. The hotel is on the Mint so really central to the old town. There is no parking, but quite cheap all day/overnight parking can be had most days of the week only 5 minutes walk away. It's possible to pull up outside to drop off and pick up bags and people. The food, particularly the breakfast, is really excellent. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It's nice and quiet at night despite being in the town centre.

Nothing really, though the larger room at the front, while a really lovely room, is not equipped with a shower (it has instead and impressive but high sided antique bath) and hence might not suit an older person.

Lovely pub/Inn. Staff very nice. Room was lovely . Great it was dog friendly rooms and dogs welcome throughout pub. Nice food. In the centre of the town a stroll away from mermaid street. Parking in station car park less than 5 min walk and only £2.50 for 24hrs. Very good night's sleep as very quiet at night.

No complaints at all. Just feedback for the place. You could do with a thermostate on the bathroom towel rail. Opened the bathroom door and was like a sauna. Probably save on energy costs as well. During the day/evening a door downstairs when it shuts literally shook the whole room. Not sure if door to garden. Not a problem once pub closes.

Very welcoming pub/hotel in the heart of Rye. It is an old building so may not be suitable for all ages, particularly the Dover room which we were in. We had dinner in the evening and the food was amazing and the staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. Free wi-fi as well which was helpful as I had to work for part of my stay. Really good breakfast and didn't feel rushed checking out. All in all, very good value for money. Will be back.

The only thing was access to our room, Dover, was a bit difficult, particularly with luggage, so not suitable for everyone.

I’ve stayed many time before. love the place nice to see the Dover Room has been updated. Our favourite room. The additional new work in the bathroom along with a table for our stuff was appreciated.

it’s bar, so it can be very noisy, and alas on the night I stayed we had two very drunken women who decided to invite and inconvenience our evening meal (our anniversary) so it spoiled the evening. although they are fellow guests; it’s was disappointing but not the Standards fault. Although the staff could have been more helpful in reminding them to be more gracious. tricky I know. love the Dover room, I’ve stayed in others and hated the noise so I only like the Dover room. lack of shaving mirrors is my main gripe - it means you have to do a tricky shave, mirror, back to sink thing which is annoying. a shave mirror on a swivel arm would rectify this problem.

Very good food, extremely friendly and helpful staff. Historic Grade 2 Listed Property with all the character in a great location and within easy walking distance to the historic Rye town centre. Very attractive period properties adjacent to the hotel.

There were a few drawbacks - no on-site parking which meant a 5 min walk to the nearest pay and display car park with suitcases etc. Also, and because of the listed status of the building, access to the room we were allocated up a very, very steep and narrow staircase - certainly not suitable for anyone with mobility issues or other disability.

The food is exceptional, delicious & locally sourced. Fab breakfast too, full English or lighter choices ie yogurt/ granola.etc Very friendly staff. Comfy bed, property is full of original character, wonky floors, wooden beams, quite steep stairs. Nice touch with kettle, tea/ coffee & water provided in room. Location is really great & very conveniently located, ideal for exploring Rye. No parking onsite, plenty of parking options nearby.

Nothing! Worth noting is that noise does travel up to the room from downstairs whilst the bar is open. Our room had a shower over the bath rather than a walk in.

Very friendly staff upon entering to check in to our room. We stayed in Hastings room, which was lovely, albeit on the smaller side, but it was perfect for one night. Very clean, lovely contemporary bathroom. Bed very comfortable. It was very cosy and I love exposed beams! We didn’t realise breakfast was included, so that was great! We also ate dinner here in the evening, food is lovely. Would certainly return here when in Rye again, whether to stay or just to dine.

There is no car park as it’s central Rye, but we parked near the river which was only a 3 minute walk away, so not an issue for us. Hard to think of anything we didn’t like!

rye is a small town and easy to get around but the property is on a beautiful street next to the beautiful cobbled town. I stayed with my partner as a surprise get away. there was no fridge in the room to chill the special bottle I had brung, but the staff were fantastic and offered to keep the wine cooled and had it ready for us at dinner. the staff were lovely and the food for both dinner and breakfast was great! would really recommend this very authentic and beautiful place. the only downside it isn’t cheap but all of the stays are like this in rye and in the peak of the summer it is expected. would definitely stay again

Bar area was fantastic especially the open fire making the place overall very cozy. The breakfast was huge and very tasty - could not fault it and the service was prompt and it was very easy to make alterations and extras to the menu if asked.

The room was a little creaky due to the nature of the old building - but it is definitely part of the charm. Personally feel the cost of a pet was a little steep especially if you have a small well behaved dog - doesn't make any difference to the cleaning regime
