Brilliant hotel just perfect for our trip to Flamingo Land as it's less than 5 minute drive away. The owners/staff made us feel very welcome right from the beginning of our stay. The rooms were bright and a decent size and very clean with everything you would need for a few days away. We ate breakfast each morning and had an evening meal too, both of which were lovely!. It's clear to see that the owners love what they do, and put their heart and soul into it. Would definitely recommend and hope to stay again soon.

Only a small thing but as others have suggested: blackout blinds would be great

My schedule did not allow me o eat at the hotel but I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Beansheaf which exceeded my expectations. Some adverse comments had been expressed in online reviews and I can only conclude that these were placed by competitors. My room was clean, warm and had everything that I needed.

it was dark when I arrived and I did not notice the Hotel on my first drive past - no thanks to the satnav which had the hotel on the other side of the road and I spent some time wandering round a business site, a few cottages, one with a 'secret garden'(nice) and a barn or two.

Very friendly staff who went out of their way to make us feel welcome, including accounting for a gluten allergy which isn't always easy to find. The room was bright and very comfy and they even refilled all the teabags during our stay. Very well situated for what we wanted to do during our visit.

In a perfect world, it could have been a little bit easier to walk from the hotel to the nearby town or theme park (footpaths by roads were a bit cramped or non-existant). Obviously, this is no fault of the hotel and there is a bus stop right outside but it may be relevant to you. It didn't impact our enjoyment of the trip much at all though!

Very friendly and warm welcome. Had dinner in the hotel which was served piping hot, my gammon being exactly how I had requested it cooked. Exceptionally clean room and throughout. Good night's comfortable sleep. No noise from nearby road. The manager knows her job and is a good 'people' person.

Nothing.

Breakfast - Good value for money - £8.50 per person. However the choice was limited perhaps for other people.

Evening meal - very disappointing! We both had burgers. The lamb and mint burger from the 'specials' board was bland and just a basic cheap catering burger in a bun with nothing else, chips and salad from a bag on the side. The other burger (2) were vegetarian and again they were completely tasteless and tasted like cardboard, I only managed one burger and that was only because the meal was very overpriced for what what it was. This was served with tasteless chunky chips and salad from a bag. Unfortunately the meal let the hotel down.

I can’t speak highly enough about my recent experience here. From the moment I walked in the staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make me feel welcome and provided for. The room I was in had a lovely view out of the back, away from the road and looking onto some nice views, including a lovely sunset. It was immaculate and very comfortable, with a nice desk bit to write at and lovely soap and shampoo. It was a great location from which to explore Pickering and its surrounding countryside. I don’t have a car so I was able to get the Coastliner bus right outside the hotel each day taking me to/from York, up to Pickering and Thornton le Dale (worth being aware of the timetable beforehand). I had dinner in the restaurant - food was great and the atmosphere was very cosy. Breakfast was also delicious and served with a smile. I know this review might sound a bit over the top but I genuinely can’t recommend staying here enough. Thank you to the wonderful team at the Beansheaf!

Nothing.

Very kind reception. I was allowed to store my bike in locked room. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Although the hotel is situated at a busy road it's well insulated and you don't hear the traffic from the rooms in the back. Good parking space. A friend of mine who wanted to park his car there for the day was kindly allowed to do so.

Mattress in room seven could do with a replacement. The evening meal came with chicken and rice but no vegetables

Very welcoming, and bike friendly. Accommodated our need to clean our muddy cycles. Hotel near some quiet cycle routes to avoid the main road to Pickering. Breakfast was good and included fresh fruit and a cooked breakfast which could be adapted to our needs (one dairy free diet).

For those trying to reduce their sugar intake from processed food, some Bircher muesli or oats/ granola and plain yoghurt would have been nice.

We were happy with everything the only problem was one room was close to the road and the traffic seems to be non stop and as it was hot we had to open the windows so it became very noisy. I don’t think I booked a quiet room as I don’t think that was an option and I didn’t really think about it at the time, out of 4 rooms that we booked it was only one room which seemed to be noisy, apart from that we have no complaints at all and would be more than happy to stay again. Very clean, comfy, pleasant staff we didn’t eat here so unable to comment on food.

Traffic noise which the hotel can’t do anything about!
