The location was good, right next to the beach. There was a lot of character and history surrounding the building and the staff were able to tell us about it.
We were there for 6 days and our room wasn't cleaned whilst we were there. The housekeepers came in every day but only replaced towels and straightened the bed. On one occasion we returned mid-afternoon to find our room door open. The housekeepers had been in and removed the used towels but hadn't replaced them or done anything else in the room. We were very concerned about the security of our belongings which had been left unattended in an open room and reported this to the reception who told us the housekeeping team had left but she was able to give us fresh towels. On more than one occasion the new towels that were left on our bed were damp and we had to air them before they could be used.

The staff were fantastic. The hotel was clean and lovely. And we love the location.
The room that we were initially allocated hd window that would not open. It was exceptionally hot that day and I felt very uncomfortable staying in there. We did report it and we were moved later on but I can't understand why we would of been allocated this room? Especially as it had no air conditioning? The room we were moved to was tiny and we did have to phone for a fan because of the heat. But rest assured the staff member at that time did everything he could to help. We were just a bit disappointed with the room allocation.

Hotel itself was good, bit isolated, long walk to eateries and train to Liverpool. Good first impression from outside and in reception area. Excellent staff.
Nail/tack in floor by bathroom so had to place towel over to stop walking on it. Bathtub needs re sealing and rubber bath mat replacing as blackened by mould. Bed too big for room as difficult to walk around. Faulty electrics?? Light and fan in bathroom flickering. Required deposit of £200 on arrival. Breakfast not worth new price of £17.50, more like £10-12.

Friendly staff, delicious and very generous breakfast, lovely old building and staircase . Well- located for the coast. Nice to have bottled water as well as hot drinks and biscuits. In spite of the issues mentioned below, I would happily return.
My only niggle would be that my room was at the back above some fans/air conditioning that were on constantly and as I needed the window open as too hot otherwise, I was aware of them through the night. I realise this is always an issue for large hotels and not something they can do much about. The plug didn't work for my bath and was too late when I got back for me to want to ask someone then.

I actually want to write a lovely review because I really did have a lovely stay. The staff where so nice and looked after us really well! Big thank you to Denise, Katie and Pauline. The bedroom was cosy and our coffee/milk supplies where well stocked as we are defo coffee/tea drinkers. Couldn't fault the clean bedding and towels. Oh my gosh those girlies did work really hard and really made my stay lovely. I loved the ghost stories too, but thats just me 😊
I brought to their attention that the windows in room 24 did not close properly, not a problem to me as I love fresh air. A once a month thorough clean would be something to implement, i.e under the bed and sofa bed, radiators etc

Staff at check in and check out were very professional. The room was clean and comfortable, furnished with all the necessities. The breakfast room is lovely with a good choice of hot and cold food for breakfast. The location was ideal for us as we were visiting family and know the area well. Parking is free and there were plenty of spaces. It's a quirky hotel with a long and interesting history.
There was a problem with the heating in the room; the radiator probably needed to be bled as it was cold on the top and warm at the bottom but the staff were unable to help with that. We were given a fan heater to heat the room. The room was a little on the small size with a "built in wardrobe" that you couldn't really hang anything in as the hangers were wider than the cupboard but it was ok for one night. It would have been nice to have some yogurt available with the continental breakfast but that's just a small preference, there was plenty of hot and cold food available for breakfast.

Stayed for one night. Room was clean and contained everything I needed for an overnight stay.
I was there on a very windy evening, and there was a 'whistle' generated through the wind hitting what must have been a tiny gap in the window. I mentioned it to the staff in reception in the morning and was told they would log it in the book. Not much use to me, but hopefully will save anyone else from having to listen to quite a unique sound (think bagpipes). I understand it's hard to determine the effects of the weather on any property!

Wonderful historic building, comfy bed, fabulous staff, great food, good view from room as lovely location adjacent to beach, quick drive into the city. We really enjoyed our stay here and would have no hesitation staying again if in the area.
Would avoid staying at weekends in future, or check beforehand for wedding parties! Not the staff's fault but we got woken up in the middle of the night by other guests two days running. Shower not great.

I loved the place very cosy, super clean ,modern design inside, kept the old architecture and desing outside. I felt great living in a lovely castle for a night. What an experience !
The heat was on only one or two hours after we entered the room,, during the night it was quite cold, the wind was blasting so hard we could feel the breeze inside even with the curtains closed. It was warmer on the holway than in the room. I rang twice at the reception to ask for the heat, but there was no answer.

Staff were beyond amazing, ever so helpful and always responsive. I am a bit disabled but my wheelchair was no problem for the staff and getting around the hotel was good. The room was great and everything was neat and clean. Though I didn't eat breakfast or dinner in the hotel, the smells were nice, though the breakfast room was a little crowded for me.
The wifi wasn't the strongest in my room, though it was working. And there was no access to the sea, with it being a 10 minute walk away, around the golf course. Perhaps through the golf course would be quicker but no easy way through.
