The Bird In Hand

The room was lovely. It was nicely decorated, with a comfortable bed and included some lovely little touches such as fresh milk and free water. The staff were lovely and helpful. We stayed for 2 nights so were able to try out the food too, which was fantastic. Would definitely recommend to friends.

The stay was wonderful so very little to say here, our only comments would be that the bathroom could be refreshed to match the main room decor and would be great if the area out the back was tidied for when you look out your room window. But these really are minor comments as the stay, overall, was fantastic.

Breakfast was good and choices. Room furnishings were high quality and toiletries. Drink making and mini fridge good. Good location for the festival we were attending. We were a large group (15 people) and were all accommodated.bags were taken to our rooms as we pre checked in and were late coming back.

It was expensive compared to what we normally pay. We originally asked if we could make a group booking and if there was a discount for this but this wasn’t on offer. But in the end we all booked separately and got better rates than those on the website so the owners lost out. Checking in took a while as the person on duty was trying to multi task phone calls/computer and lots of people arriving to pre check in and we did explain we were coming earlier in advance. Our room was a bit smaller with a velux window upstairs in the annex

Love how you walk into the rooms with classical music playing, a really smooth touch to the whole stay experience! Complimentary Still and sparking water and a small bottle of wholemilk for tea, coffee and lip smacking hot chocolate! Really is the little things that count and go a long way! Breakfast is superb! Highly recommend the Avocado and Poached Eggs! Brilliant wholesome meal to start the day, massive kudos to the chef! They also have electric charge points installed, massive tick box IMO and a big step to stay sustainable!

The fridges in the rooms tend to cycle every 10mins to keep cool and the motor can be annoying if you are a light sleeper.

Great location as we had tickets for Windsor Castle. Our room was very comfortable, warm & welcoming. We really appreciated the nice touches of a Cafeteria with proper coffee, proper hot chocolate powder & best of all, fresh milk in the fridge👍 Couple of complimentary soft drinks was also a good touch. Lovely big towels in the bathroom which are always a great feature for me. There was an obvious “In House” group meeting being held on our first breakfast morning. This was being held in part of the restaurant area which was not a problem to us at all. In fact, it was very refreshing to see everyone genuinely pleased & happy to be there & to see one another. To us, it showed a great work ethic & obviously reflected Butcome’s to be good employers.

Driving down from Yorkshire to attend an event down south this was the perfect stop off. Great location just off a main road. My room was room 7 in the main building. The attention to detail on the rooms is special and the mini bar and snacks to purchase was really good. It felt safe for a solo traveller. The breakfast was incredible and they had good gluten free and dairy free options, just ask the staff.

I needed a quiet room and they were really accommodating in giving me a room at the back away from the road, however, all night there was some sort of a pump going on above the rooms or next to the rooms. I had ear plugs thankfully but it was really distracting.

Beautiful room with so many extras provided- really amazing and attention to detail unreal! Breakfast was delicious- freshly cooked with high standards of presentation- not your usual fry up here! Quaint, country style maintained throughout dining areas, bar and rooms. Loved the long mirror in the room! Loved the fact our room was one of those centred around a courtyard along a veranda/porch each with individual door like your front door! Not like inside a hotel corridor. Will definitely stay again soon!

Lighting in room was quite dim. Lamp missing from one side of the bed.

The interior was most welcoming and the dinner was good if a little pricey. The restaurant was populated by locals too so that was a good sign. Breakfast the following day was adequate I would say but was included in the price which is unusual in my experience.

The procedure at check in was a bit clunky. I had already been through the pre-check in procedure online but still it took 10 mins to get our key on arrival. The bedroom was fine but the shower could have done with some Cillit Bang Black Mould Remover applied to the tiles. The shower rails was loose as was the door handle to the room.

The attention to detail was amazing. I travel a lot and the standard of the room and all that was in it was top notch. They have really thought about their customer experience. From the sleep spray by the bed to the beautiful decor, a selection of different sized glasses, complimentary drinks (IPA, Elderflower Fizz & Waters), proper coffee, a delicious scent in the room, classical music playing on arrival. This was topped off by a gorgeous meal in the restaurant and very attentive staff. I will definitely be back.

I would have liked a magnifying mirror with a light in the bathroom. It was a little dim to be able to do makeup

Rooms are lovely and so comfortable. In the fridge are a good selection of drinks including complimentary fresh milk, water and an alcohol free beer and elderflower spritzer. Food in the restaurant is very good and the breakfast was FAB!!! Stayed three times and only managed to do breakfast the last occasion - to find that I had been really missing out as there is an amazing selection including Shakshuka, granola and eggs benedict etc as well as traditional breakfast. The Shakshuka was delicious! The staff are also really nice - friendly, helpful and always smiling. I stay away with work a lot and on this occasion I took my daughter along - she also loved the place in particular the "oldy worldy decor in the pub". I would highly recommend the Bird at Hand as my new favourite.

Only reason my review is a 9/10 is that I had to turn the fridge off in the night as it was very noisy.

Lovely pub/hotel with plenty of free parking. Bedrooms were better than we expected with the addition of lovely toiletries including lavender pillow spray which was a thoughtful touch. Only negative is the road noise as on main road but wouldn't put us off staying there again Both evening meal and breakfast wetr fabulous, one of the best Sunday lunches we've had and really good breakfast Overall would highly recommend the Bird in Hand as location good for Marlow, Henley & Windsor
