We had the continental breakfast during our stay. There was a good choice, cereals, fresh fruit etc. The hotel is in an excellent location, e.g. near Kentwell Hall and Melford Hall, 4 miles from Lavenham etc. There is a pub restaurant on the premises serving good food at reasonable prices.

The extractor fan wasn't working in the bathroom and we were told that none of them were working in the hotel. Somebody was going to come and fix them...In our room, no. 38, it took a very long time for the hot water to come through.

Staff were incredibly friendly and pleasant, and I can’t fault anything else. They were introducing a new breakfast system on the first day but it was done with enormous efficiency and humour. Room was very pleasant, shower was great.

my only concern was the very creaky floor potentially disturbing my neighbours as I had to get up very early both days — but it is, of course an incredibly old building! I was at the very back of the hotel and there was some noise from the road. But all in all a very good value and pleasant stay.

Our room - The Melford Suite - was very old and interesting with beams and a sloping floor and roof. Would probably go for one of the rooms overlooking the front next time as they seemed brighter. Bed was very comfortable and I liked the little sofa. Public rooms were nice but with warmer lighting, they could have been really cosy. Breakfast was lovely, I've never had such a big omelette! Parking no problem. Friendly staff

Bathroom wasn't modern. Hubby not impressed with the range of beer/ales, but the main street was very nice to wander down with several other pubs and bars.

We loved this Hotel from start to finish, we had a lovely lunch in the bar before we booked in and the staff were great, We had room 35 which was also really lovely the only thing I would say is the room was initially cold but the Hotel did provide a Fan heater which made all the difference, It is a big building to heat and its also very old so no surprise it was colder upstairs. The room was beautifully decorated and all the staff were friendly, the bonus was the breakfast you get a good choice of hot breakfasts and there is also a continental choice, plenty of carparking to the front and rear of the Hotel, I will definitely go back, great location too.

Room was really clean (and big)! The hotel was really warm (well done for maintaining this when energy costs are at an all time high) Dinner was absolutely spot on and the food was delicious! The bar and lounge was full which is testament to the Bulls menu, value for money and service. Breakfast was also spot on! The team - It is notiecable how friendly and how well your team work together. Reception, bar and breakfast dining staff were all lovely and super helpful. My partner and I really enjoyed our stay and will return Great value for money

The bathroom could do with an update i.e. shower screens rather than curtain - general modernisation. A few accessories i.e. bed spread cover, cushions and a statement picture on the biggest wall would make the room feel more like a hotel (a treat to be enjoyed away from home rather than a business stay)

The Bull has loads of character. It is a typical Suffolk timbered property with loads of exposed beams. The restaurant is a lovely room. I had a very comfortable stay at The Bull. There is a very good selection of hot and cold food to choose from at breakfast, with plenty of choice for vegetarians, vegans and those with other dietary requirements like myself.

I could not get the shower attachment to work despite repeated attempts, but the bath was very good. There was quite a lot of noise quite early on. It sounded like beer barrels being moved. I was already awake, but it could have been irritating otherwise. Being an older property, there is not a great deal of sound insulation.

We have stayed at The Bull twice before in the past and am pleased to say that the standards in all aspects have been maintained and things do not appear to have changed which, in these challenging times for businesses has to be a positive for the guests. The room was as we expected with a very comfy bed and the room was spacious enough to move around. The bathroom was a little tired but still acceptable and in keeping with the Hotel "ambiance". No up to date power shower here but give it a few minutes to reach temperature and it was fine. The breakfast menu had varied choice and cooked breakfast was enjoyable and well presented. I particularly enjoyed the Eggs Benedict. Very tasty ! We ate our evening meals in the bar area which was a very pleasant place to be. The evening dinner menu was of great variety and during our stay the food was plentiful and nicely cooked. After dinner, it was nice to take your drinks through to the lounge where you can sit in relative comfort to end the evening. I cannot rate the staff highly enough. All were helpful when a request was made and everyone was really friendly. Full marks ! The Bull Hotel comes highly recommended for travellers who love an "Olde Worlde" atmosphere.

Tough one this but the only thing we can think of is that the breakfast room chairs were not particularly comfy. Not the best shaped seats for a body frame and lacked thigh support. We gave up on wifi settings !

The history of the place was everywhere, dark wood beams, ornate 16th century furniture, creaky floor boards and a mystery ghost story too. Don't miss the carved Wildman/Woodwose in the lounge. The staff were great, friendly, chatty and informative answering questions about history of the Bull and the village. Beds were super comfy and the room (room 32) was quiet from noise either from inside or outside of the hotel. A fan was provided because of the exceptional heat. The bathroom was spotless. The food was fine, not exceptional but there was a varied choice of dishes. Both food and drinks were reasonably priced. There was a good choice for breakfast. The location of the Bull enabled walking to Melford Hall, the church and Kentwell Hall in one direction if you wished and the High Street in the other direction and the heritage centre opposite.

When we went the Bull appeared to be suffering from understaffing, like many other hospitality establishments which meant all the evening meals were served in the bar, not the restaurant and several dishes were unavailable including the Sunday roast which is on the menu with no time restrictions but actually finished at 7pm. This was disappointing as it was my friends birthday and we'd both agreed to have a roast. Not a great view from the room, overlooking flat roofs etc and the carpark but faced away from road and the room was quiet. Free Wi-Fi was very flaky.

Breakfast was first class and the waitress was lovely. Twin room was a good size and the beds comfortable, the only issue was the room was so very hot and the fan didn’t work, after letting housekeeping know they sorted the fan issue and took the duvet off my bed and replaced with a sheet. This was done swiftly and without any problems. Excellent wifi connection.

Refrigeration unit was noisy (in the outside seating area) and as the room was hot we had to have the windows open, once we got the fan working it did dull the noise from the unit and it didn’t disturb our sleep. I would certainly return to this hotel.

Breakfast good and location is excellent. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms have everything you need. It has as a more personal touch than the big 'chain' hotels

Given that its a really old listed building and has a lot of character I'm probably being a bit picky but a lot of the floorboards along some of the corridors and in the rooms do creak an awful lot which is acceptable during the day but not so in the night as you can hear other guests 'creaking' along to their rooms and the creaking in the bedroom is annoying.
