Location exceptional. Lambeth North tube station and Waterloo station near by, so is the south bank. Staff nice and helpful.
Air in rooms was humid and in the mornings very bad. Ventilation only when all windows open, some didn't like this and closed them. Some roommates were very rude and switched lights off always when I needed them even in early evenings. Shower rooms very cold and humid. Only two toilets in the floor. Always out if toilet paper. Woodwork swollen beside doors and looked like there was mold. Toilets door lock broken. In rooms always other people stuff left behind when they left, old and dirty towels hanging so No place to hang your coat. No place to dry your towel after shower. Under the lowest bed the floor was filthy and dusty, stuff there too. Lights broken. Next time I will find a hotel.

In a great location (5 minutes walk from Lambeth North station), safe and quiet area. Friendly and nice service. A clean and safe place to stay, you can leave your belongings in the box (you need your own padlock). The room has good heating and ventilation, and there are power and USB plugs available by the bed. At night, there is constant poor lighting in the room (green light), which allows you to safely reach the entrance door without turning on the main lighting and waking up people in the room. There is enough space in the room to feel comfortable (it is not cramped). The shared bathroom has access to spacious shower cabins (strong stream of water, space for toiletries, hangers) and clean toilets. The entrance to the accommodation (on the floor above the pub) and to the room is secured with a card, which gives a sense of security. The pub has a large selection of beers and meals. Excellent burgers and breakfasts. The pub also organizes attractions - the quiz on Wednesday evening was very interesting. The pub has a pleasant atmosphere, clean facilities and accessible toilets.
The content of the shared bathroom needs to be improved. On the second floor there are two small sinks, one of which is broken. The sinks are placed very close to each other. Two people using sinks have their backs hooked on the windowsill or hand dryer. There is nowhere to dry your hair - maybe the solution would be to place one dryer higher so that you can dry your hair with it? The only way is to do it in the corridor, because drying your hair in the room disturbs other people there.

The staff was very helpful and welcoming. I was in the same hostel 4 years ago and now it's completely renewed. The rooms are small (but that's what you expect from a hostel) but tidy. Linen are included and the bed was comfortable. The location is perfect, just few steps away from the tube and at walk distance from many nice spots in London. There is 24h service for guests and it's also possible to have a late night meal like cheese or pepperoni pizza. I loved staying there!
The washroom was a bit too small to serve all the floor. Streets can be a bit noisy at night.

All the staff were cool, friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable and the pillow too. Liked having 2 sockets by the bed. Location was good and it was really helpful being able to leave luggage before check in and after checking out. Staff happy to replace my key card when mine got mistakenly taken in the bathroom. Good amount of showers. It felt safe and secure staying there.
Personally, as a vegan, food choice wasn't great or tasty imo (although they have rewards for their burgers and the 'burger' in the vegan burger did taste nice). I didn't realise there were no towels or that we would have to buy or bring a padlock for the lockers. That might be down to my ignorance in staying in places like this. Could have done with more toilets.

I was on my way home from London, unfortunately there had been an incident and Waterloo train station was chaotic, services severely affected with delayed/ cancelled trains. While I attempted to get on two different trains home but decided to give up. This property was easy to book on booking.com and cost effective for me having an unexpected stay in London. It is located close to Waterloo station and when I arrived, staff were friendly, helpful and check in was quick and simple. Being my first time using this type of accomodation I was pleased to find the dorm room more than adequate in size, bedding was fresh and clean and the mattress good enough to provide a decent night's sleep. I also had food which was enjoyable. I've been wanting to visit London more often and will be used The steam engine, Waterloo facilities again.

Comparing price and location, this is the best hostel in London you can find, just 5 or 7 minutes walking distance from Big Ben and London Eye. Rooms are clean and it is always great to have tho opportunity of going to a pub that is on the ground floor and is opened 24/7
The bed was a bit too small for me (I am 190 cm tall), there is not a kitchen and there was not enough toilets (only 2 for our floor with 4 rooms, in my room there were 9 beds, I don't know about the others but in the morning you had to wait for a toilet)

I enjoyed my short stay here as a solo woman. The room was clean and quiet, as were the beds themselves. There was a caged locker for each bed, which was great. Also, the checkout system used (leaving my card at the front desk) worked well for me as I left very early. Also, the location of the hostel is amazing - a quiet neighbourhood with a close supermarket and tube station, but a 5 minute walk from the south bank and a 15 minute walk from Central London. I loved that it was all in a walking distance.
The bathrooms were fairly clean but small, and there were not enough bathroom stalls in the second level, in my opinion. Also, the adjoining showers felt a bit weird for me.

Couldn't recommend it any more if I tried. Everything was outstanding. From the service, to the staff, to the facilities. Various food and drink on offer throughout the day. Selection of essentials to buy (earplugs, towels etc.) Everything is made immaculate every morning by hard working cleaning staff. Everybody working here is extremely polite and happy to chat and help. 5 minute walk to Lambeth North station. 10 minutes to big ben and HOP. So excellent transport links. Will absolutely be staying again.
Beds weren't the comfiest but are above standard for low cost communal hostel, in my experience. Otherwise, I simply couldn't fault it.

The location could simply not be better. It is literally 10 minutes away from the Big Ben by foot. I like walking so I never even had to use a tube or a bus during my stay here. You can find Costa and some other coffee shops around the corner and The Bakerloo line station is also just a few minutes away if you want to go somewhere by metro. I would say this place is very clean as well.
I think the bathroom area could be a bit better because now you get two sinks, two toilets and three showers for the whole floor. And one toilet was out of order for a few days. It gets very steamy if someone is showering and that sink area is so small it's really a bit uncomfortable if two people are trying to wash their teeth or something. I also didn't like the fact that they have those taps that are used in public places with a limited amount of time of water running. I mean I had to keep pressing it again and again just to brush my teeth.
