Holiday Inn Liverpool City Centre, an IHG Hotel

We booked 6 nights for the Eurovision contest in May 2023 from Monday to Saturday included. The customer service was superb. The staff was very friendly and patient with our requests and questions (printing documents, answers to our queries, the staff recognized us day after day and greeted us). The room was very comfortable, well insulated, close to the upper floor with a very nice view on the city. Cherry on the cake the hotel organised a surprise breakfast the morning of the Eurovision Grand Final with bubbly/ orange juice and dance and karaoke to all get us on the spirit of the day and song contest!

It semt that we had an issue when booking on booking.com platform as we thought that we had a room with two single beds. Since we were actually allocated a large double room we changed to the only available room at the time which was a large two double beds. We paid a supplement at the hotel which made the stay dearer than what we expected. However Eurovision week hospitality is very expensive anyway Two minor points: The cleaning staff was putting all pillows back from the wardrobe on the bed after each night. After we left a note to do differently the cleaning staff just adapted to respect our wishes The curtains were leaving some light go through the window

The staff were amazing at this hotel. . On arrival we received a warm welcome. On entering our room the door would not lock so we reported it, it was sorted out in minutes. Thanks to maintenance guy (Peter) for not only sorting it with reception but offering to assist us with our bags to change rooms. Our housekeeper (Malee) was a delight and very helpful, she kept us topped up with ample teabags. The bar staff, reception staff (Jo) and morning restaurant staff were ALL so friendly and they engaged really well with us, and others. The reception manager deserves a medal, Michelle was always smiling, always chatty and she worked wonders to ensure the hotel was well decorated and ready for the Eurovision week. A special delight was a Eurovision DJ at the breakfast hall on the morning of Eurovision. What a star. Thank you to ALL the staff at this venue, we had a glorious stay.

Nothing at all to criticise, we just cannot fault this hotel.

Great central location opposite Lime St Station. Hotel bar and staff were all fabulous and our room was available for an early check-in which really helped.. A shame there isn't a swimming pool but I guess you cant have everything

So not sure whose to blame for this but when completing the room booking on booking.com I was asked to select a room choice from double or twin. I specifically wanted a twin for this stay but when I received the confirmation, it states this is NOT a guarantee and is only treated as a "preference". Luckily, I rang the hotel direct and was told for an extra £25 per night I could make this a guarantee otherwise its just pot luck on the day. With a bit or bartering, I managed to get both nights for an extra £25 but there were other guests checking-in with similar predicaments and they were not as lucky so all I would say is make this clearer at point of sale and if the room rate for a twin is more expensive then add this as an option up front!

Good breakfasts with beautiful views of the city. The location of the hotel is very good (close to museums, the railway station, close to the main streets of the city). Very comfortable beds!

The hotel is in need of renovation. Some shabby furniture, doors, carpet on the floor. You can feel that the hotel is "tired". It was inconvenient that the shampoo and shower gel were high up in the bathroom and could not be lowered. It makes you feel like you're back in time :) In addition, the hotel did not have adapters for European chargers - we had to buy them.

Stayed in the Presidential Suite on the top (9th) floor, very roomy, with a bedroom, kitchen/diner, Lounge, Toilet/washroom, 2nd toilet/washroom with jacuzzi bath and overhead shower. Large wardrobe area. TV in bedroom and a TV in the lounge. Breakfast was excellent, everything you would want and more. Good view from the dining room over Lime Street Station. Really fast lifts so never had to wait for long.

Room was not ready on arrival but was gifted a drinks voucher whilst we waited. Suite is starting to look a little tired in places. Bedroom window wants adjusting as it's letting in noise and whistling wind sounds. Tap water in the kitchen/diner tasted strange and tainted the tea/coffee.

The team were welcoming on arrival, even though it was later at night. The room was clean, spacious, comfortable and welcoming. The location is very central and reception staff were helpful with any questions we had.

our second night the room was a bit stuffy and the heating is centrally controlled so the only option was to open a window but we were facing the main road. The service in the evening restaurant could have been better, a couple of times we had to ask twice for thing eg drinks, a side order that didn’t arrive with the meal etc and there were only a couple other small tables in at the time for a few members of staff.

Good location directly opposite Lime Street Station. Easy walk across the road and step free to reception. Reception is 24hr and consistently helpful. Room was fine for a budget hotel. Reasonable sized free view tv. Beds were comfortable. Shower was good - just an over bath one but good jet and good temperature. Room had views across the city to the docks. This takes in some car parks but really liked having a view into the distance. Fairly limited storage space - did have a wardrobe for hanging but plenty of room to have your suitcases out. Breakfast was pretty good. Plentiful supplies and good variety. Breakfast room was a nice area with big windows for views over lime street. The breakfast area is also the restaurant and is part of an open plan set up on the second floor that includes bar and conference facilities. A real pleasant area to hang out if you don’t want to be in your room or out and about. There is a gym on the first floor. It is limited, dated and often not working equipment but met my needs. We joined the hotel rewards scheme and meant they gave us late checkout on our last day which helped a lot with the timing of our train

Not much really. For what it is it is very good. The gym could do with some love and attention but not an issue for most people.

the location is excellent so close to both railway and city Centre, the room was comfortable and clean with a good view down towards the Mersey, the breakfast was excellent, great choices and very good quality produce, (as a chef a hotels food quality is benchmark for me) both the dining area and the spacious bar were spotless and well appointed, I have stayed in hotels and paid double the price that were not as good as this, I am sure I will return next time I visit Liverpool.

the only blackmark was the shower did not work, the hot water was really hot but the cold water did not work, when we mentioned this on checkout the staff were very apologetic and said thank you and said they would get the problem resolved as soon as possible.

Perfect location just across from Lime Street Station, and close to the Theatres. The room was basic but comfortable and clean. We were at the back of the hotel so it was nice and quiet. The breakfast buffet was good and plenty of it. Reception staff were friendly and helpful

A bit messy outside with the road works, which made locating the entrance a bit tricky, but that isn't the fault of the hotel. Wasn't impressed with the music coming from the overhead speakers outside from the shop next door, or the music in Reception, it was just a little too loud, a bit off putting if you had hearing problems.

A lovely, friendly and comfortable hotel situated just across the road from Lime Street station. Excellent, large room with such comfy beds and all the facilities you need, including wall mounted liquid soap, shower gel and shampoo, tea, coffee and biscuits, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, notepad, pen and a large tv. The buffet breakfast was lovely and plentiful. The location is also the winner here. Right next door to St John's shopping precinct, pubs and restaurants across the road and it's a 5 minute walk into Liverpool One shopping centre. Perfect.

There was nothing I disliked about this hotel. My family visit around 3 times a year. Never a bad experience.
