The staff were excellent right from the greeting as soon as you got out of your car right up to when you leave. They seemed genuinely happy to help. Nice location right next to the Thames and opposite Hampton Court Palace. Nice restaurants with a good view of the river. Menus are not extensive, however, what there is well prepared. Throughly enjoyed the Bass and the Lamb. Great little terrace/bar area where you can sit by the river. Well situated for Kew Gardens. Let the hotel book you a taxi much easier than driving. Over the bridge, you will find some nice bars and restaurants. Strongly recommend you try The Box, which is a street food vendor selling freshly made wraps. Had a really relaxing break at the Mitre.100% would return.

Stop putting the negative comments first as it isn't fair on the property. It detracts from the positives. The room was great, however, the carpet was in dire need of replacement, and the bath panel looked like it had seen better days as had the cabinet containing the fridge. Don't let this put you off as the hotel in all other respects was great, as was the general area. We had a really nice stay.

Most of all I loved the location. Close to the train station and in a nice little neighborhood along the Thames. I also liked the historical hotel. Our room was large by European standards and the amenities nice and appreciated.

Because it was a historic hotel, the hotel had a strange lay-out and it was difficult to find your way around to the eating areas. Also, our room was not air-conditioned and we had some unusually warm days while we were there. We were on the ground floor with doors opening out to a shared courtyard, so in the evening we would open the doors to get a bit of cross breeze going so it wasn't stifling. The hotel provided a fan and bottled water for the duration so that was nice.

On arrival, there was a lovely welcome with complimentary glass of wine and we were escorted to our room by staff. We were also upgraded to a heritage room which was a lovely surprise. There is limited parking in front of the hotel but the staff made sure we got a space which we used for the duration of our stay which was very convenient. The location of the hotel is excellent for visiting Hampton Court and the local area is very pleasant, lots of restaurants and pubs in walking distance. The links into London are also very good from Hampton Court station. The room we were in was very large. The only negatives were that there are not enough sockets and the room lighting was very low throughout (romantic but not great for applying make up according to my partner!) The bathroom was large and well appointed but would have been handy to have a few more hooks perhaps and a magnified mirror for make up application! Great mini hairdryer provided! The whole suite was exceptionally clean. Breakfasts were very good - it was really busy on the Saturday morning which is to be expected I guess. We had a little wait but the staff were very pleasant. We liked the character of the hotel, there are many nods to its history and association with Hampton Court.

More room sockets, better lighting, a few more fixtures in terms of coat and towel hooks; magnified mirror - but generally a very nice room.

Historical building and fabulous location. Nice and friendly food and beverage staff and a good choice of breakfast (buffet and a la carte). Eating breakfast while the early morning rowers went past on the Thames, and a little robin flew into the restaurant, quintessentially England! Great walks in Bushey Park and Hampton Court Palace, both just a few minutes walking away.

The check in was not very welcoming. The Front Reception staff seemed distracted and came across as cold and unfriendly. We had requested twin beds, but unfortunately my daughter and I had to share a Queen bed. One month on I am still waiting for my payment to clear through my bank account and for my deposit for damages to be returned.

I stay in at least one hotel per week and often more. I try to stay in the £125 - £150 per night price bracket. This place blew me away. Definitely my favourite this year. Arrival drinks were most welcome and facilitated time to meet others staying at the hotel. We met a lovely couple and went for drinks riverside. I was blown away by helpful staff quirky old and beautiful surroundings and the location was superb. Thank you, we will definitely stay again. I would like not to be working the next time

Everything was perfect. The only thing that would make it better for me would be a socket next to the bed.

Room was well appointed, with lots of lovely touches ie. personal note from the team, lovely tea, coffee and cookies. Lovely robes, very soft towels etc. Liked that you could sit on a semi-private courtyard if you wanted to. Staff at the hotel were friendly and the hotel itself was well furnished and in a great location. Breakfast was lovely when it arrived. Wasn't too long between ordering and breakfast arriving.

When we wanted a drink from the bar to take away, got sent to a different bar who sent to a different bar who then insisted on room service, which is a bit ridiculous when you are there at the bar. Was supposed not to be charged for the room service but still was. Breakfast service was pretty disorganised, even though we were asked about tea or coffee on arrival, we had to call a member of staff over 25 mins later to ask where they were and for a menu, then had to repeat our drinks order. There were people sitting at tables for quite a while before they got any service. The food arrived in reasonable time after we placed the order and was very good, it was just getting the staff to come over in the first place that took the time.

This was a more expensive stay than the other places I booked for my trip. For the price, it should have come with a breakfast included. That being said, it was a very nice stay. Everyone was attentive and the restaurant was fabulous. I definitely would recommend this hotel.

I specifically a twin room and went back through my correspondence and verified this. When I checked in, we were shown to a beautiful room with a double bed. When I told the receptionist we had booked a twin room she said she had to check to see if a twin room was available. She said I was "lucky" there was one available. This was the only snag. Just verify your booking.

The staff was amazing. The furnishings throughout the whole hotel and our room were beautiful. You won't believe the breakfasts. They are fantastic. We are vegan and they had wonderful plant based options that were delicious, in addition to standard options. And the views are of the Thames. it was really very nice. 1665 is a beautiful restaurant as well and the food was delicious. The location across from Hampton Court was an easy and the train ride to London Waterloo was direct.

They can't fix the wooden floors on a building built in 1665. We found it charming that they were a little uneven on the upper floors.

The style and atmosphere.

The only down side was the service in the restaurant at dinner. Other diners were attended to before myself, I thought it may have been that I was a solo diner.

I thought the restaurant staff were awful. I sat down for 10 minutes and no one served me. Then i got up and went to bar to order a coffee and it did not even have sugar on the table or saucer so had to go up to the bar again to ask for that. I love this place but the restaurant staff were just a joke. With that i did order a cooked breakfast and the chef did an amazing job. I will stay her again as the location is amazing, staff are great, it was just the waitress was just not really aware or helpful.
