Boxmoor Lodge Hotel

Room 23 was a small 'old fashioned' basic double room, clean and comfortable with TV. Check -in by phone was good and instructions clear to find allocated room. Free parking outside. All staff were friendly. Continental breakfast was adequate with an option for cooked most days at a reasonable price. Air-conditioning in room worked well. Bathroom was a good size with a powerful shower. Small pots of shower gel and shampoo provided, plus towels. Tea/coffee with kettle available in room. Hairdryer provided and iron.

Lots of wasps outside our window (we did report this to a staff member) which prevented us from opening the windows.

The whole place was beautiful.. very clean, spacious, relaxing, well located to Hemel Hempstead train station and town. The bed was super comfy and we felt safe.

The only thing I would like to mention is that the room service attempted to enter our room about an hour before checking out, while I had just got out of the shower. Luckily our door was locked as it would have been quite embarrassing. We had hung a sign the morning after our first night saying we didn't want room service, but the sign disappeared and our room was serviced the next day. There seemed to be a communication issue with this. Other than that it was perfect.

Really well located for the train into London. We also went to Harry Potter Studio tour which was very close. Walking distance to local pubs and restaurants. The Beakfast was great too and the staff were lovely. Our room was a great size to fit our family in, including a cot bed.

The room was so hot it was abit uncomfortable and we had to open the windows which then meant the noise from the road could be heard. The room facilities were abit tired. We had 2 kids with us and didn't get enough towels for us all which was anit inconvenient. The sofa bed wasn't made up for us when we arrived.

The room was warm and comfortable with all we needed for a couple of nights stay, tea and coffee with biscuits and water in the room was nice to have. Food choice was excellent, the cost of the cooked breakfast was very good. Staff were friendly and helpful, all in all a lovely stay!

No one's fault at all but we did discover someone had put an old pizza crust on top of the wardrobe (not something you would see usually but we popped a coat on there and it was pulled down with it. Assuming someone thought it would be funny to hide it there so just to make cleaning staff aware to check every now and again that someone hasn't pulled a silly prank.

We came to go to Warner bros studio and only 10mins drive away. The breakfast was really lovely. The rooms were clean and staff lovely. The first morning we had an issue with the hot water and was sorted out without problem. The position was lovely for a walk along the canal and would definitely recommend the Fishery Wharf cafe for homemade pizzas and craft beer.

It was a bit strange not to have a person on reception when we arrived but not a problem really and as the hotel was fully booked the car park was pretty full.

The staff were extraordinary. This place gave numbers, postcodes etc for nearby restaurants but we had a takeaway, all we had to do was call up for plates and they left plates and cutlery in our room for us. Our car broke down and they had jump cables, battery chargers and even helped us push the car to try and bump start it!! The cleaner there was so lovely and kind& craig helped with the car… he seemed very knowledgable about how to help with it and had lots of tools to help us. Nice warm rooms. Clean bathroom with bath and shower. Comfy beds. TV with remote. Hairdryer&vanity

The breakfast was fantastic, one of the best I’ve ever had. It was beautifully cooked and very hot when served. The lady that waited on us was really lovely & welcoming. The room was spotlessly clean and had a brand new bathroom. The rooms all have their own entrance around a central courtyard with lovely flower beds and hanging baskets.

There was no aircon, although a fan was provided, and no fridge. It wouldn’t have mattered so much if we hadn’t been staying on one of the hottest weekends of the year.

We booked on the strength of other positive reviews. Very glad we did. We were a little sceptical as to what we might find based on the price for 3 nights, the lowest we could find with no knowledge of the area. We were surprised so wanted to also give a review. Boxmoor Lodge is excellent value for money including a good continental breakfast , if what you are after is a good, simple bed & breakfast stopover. Option to pay for a cooked breakfast too. Family run & very helpful on the phone. Motel style self check in. Large room & very clean. Appeared freshly painted/ looked after. Bathroom small , very clean with great shower. Free parking outside the room was a bonus. Would recommend to friends as great value if you just want a stopover & are out all day. We'd stay again if local!. Just 15m drive to Harry Potter Studio Tour. Short walk to station for train to Euston. 15m drive to lovely Berkhamsted for great restaurants. Well done Boxmoor Lodge

Hemel Hemsted Station just down the road but very busy main road to cross and narrow pavement walk but takes only 5/6minutes Best to drive out for nice pubs & restaurants as very little walkable from motel. Avoided local Harvester pub (looks walkable). All reviews we read were poor!

It was in a beautiful little place, not far from amenities, nice tidy little room, Enough space for me and the hubby for our visit to WB studios(was roughly 20 mins drive) breakfast was continental with a charge for full english(totaly worth the extra) all staff was lovely and friendly to us, would 100% visit again.

Would have been nice if the little bar was still open, but after talking to the owner we understand why it isnt, only about 10-15 mins walk to the harvester or the Fishery Inn

The bedroom was lovely and warm on arrival. Which was nice as we arrived late. The room was a lovely size for two adults plus an 8 year old. The bathroom was white and looked very clean. The bed sheets were clean and bright white. The bedroom was dust free as far as we could tell. The breakfast was continental and included in the price. The selection was small but the quality of the food offered was very good. There are croissants of different varieties. Little yoghurts and bowls of ready made fruit salad. Toast was available but we didn't have any as breakfast started at 8am and we had to leave by 8.15am. A selection of cooked breakfasts was available at an extra charge. The coffee was just ok. There was apple juice and orange juice available. Overall we had a good stay and would stay again. The price we paid was for a double bed and sofa bed at £118. I wouldn't want to pay anymore than that amount. The hotel was a 3 minute drive from Drift Limits car experience... which was fantastic.

The car park had a lot of large puddles. The room was dated in decor. The bedside table had a clock radio built in... which was a blast from the past...I had a little chuckle to myself. I hadn't seen those since the 80's when I was young. The room was perfectly clean except for the carpet which was covered in hair. I do believe this was a mistake and they had just forgotten to give it a good hoover. The carpet could do with a replacement as there were a few old stains. The arm chair also had a stain.
