Asperion Hotel

On arrival after our 5 hours road journey Our party received a warm greeting from the duty receptionist Sheena who made us feel at home, relaxed and who guided us through registration then ushered us to our rooms which were spick, span and comfortable. My traditional breakfast was well presented and tasty my partners omelette was exceptional. My casual request at reception for local information resulted in a detailed location map being produced and given to me thereby enabling me to easily guide our party to our destination.

Bathroom facilities were spotlessly clean however toiletries whilst good quality, these were used very quickly, we would have liked a greater quantity placed at the outset of our stay.

Asperion Hotel is within (uphill) walking distance of Guildford railway station and town centre. Our room was compact, but more than adequate for a two-night stay. It was well-equipped with a small fridge, too. The cooked breakfast is the best cooked breakfast I have ever eaten outside of home - delicious and locally sourced.

Our bedroom was facing the main Farnham Road, the A31. Being on a hill, the buses & HGVs are all in low gear. If we opened the window, we couldn't sleep due to the traffic noise. If we kept the window closed, we boiled up. Easy fix - we'll book a luxury room next time, as they are located at the rear of the hotel, away from the road. Another slight minus was the size of the ensuite in our room. We are small to medium-sized people (size 10), but there was no way two of us could use the shower room at the same time. Hopefully, the luxury rooms have larger ensuites.

Good location very close to the city centre and the university. Close by the bus station and the train station. Clean and comfortable room with fast internet connection.

Apparently, even though it is a 4* hotel, they offer complimentary toiletries only once for the whole stay! The experience and expectations that I have when booking a 4* hotel that is also that pricy, is to have a complimentary bottle of water at least in the beginning of my stay and of course if I am staying longer than 2 days and we are 2 people, one more set of complimentary toiletries. The fact that we had to ask for it and their response ( even through we didn’t got charged for it ) that only one set is complimentary from the management was a bit disappointing to be honest.

The breakfast was awesome. Best coffee ever. The staff were all friendly. Anna was very attentive and the ambiance was relaxing. The honesty bar was a fab idea. The sheets were clean, the bed gave me the best sleep. It's a good location as well esp when it's a few mins walk fr the train station and town centre.. Overall, it was an amazing experience.

I do not reccommend it for those who dont have a vehicle and have mobility issues because the walk to the hotel is quite steep as it is up a hill. If you have a car then no problem. Good thing i workout alot so that was not an issue.

Staff is extremely helpful and kind. This is a very clean and well-kept property with a range of different rooms. Breakfast is great except for that in the morning, the whole hotel smells like bacon (because the kitchen is semi-open). I can imagine not everyone appreciates that.

I chose low-budget and had the only room where the (private) bathroom was down the hall. That's a little inconvenient and that particular bathroom is quite damp as well (no windows and poor ventilation). Some of the paint is coming off and the shower head could to with a little maintenance. This is a minor thing and I could have paid a little extra for an on-suite, but I hadn't realised beforehand how this would play out.

The ladies at the reception are extremely kind and polite. They have made me feel as at home. Breakfast is very good. the product are fresh and the food is very tasty. The room are very clean and the bathroom is brand new. I also appreciate the position a lot; t is very near to the ralway station (about 10 minutes walk). I have been in Guildford for a conference at Surrey University and getting there was extremely easy and pleasant. Just a 15 minutes walk in a very nice and safe context.

We liked the room and shower and the fact that the town was really near.Staff was nice,music was always great and the fact that you could get a drink from the bar after 10pm and just write your room number on a piece of paper was really sweet and trusting.

I would have liked a few more armchairs at the "lobby".I understand that it is a boutique hotel but I still believe there could have been more.Also,the ceiling by the door was dripping when we were having our breakfast and it was a but annoying.Breakfast was good,you had to pay extra ofcourse and there was a choice of mostly eggs in different ways.But it was tasty.Coffee was not great.A bit too weak for our taste.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent . I particularly liked the reception/bar/ dining area as this was very comfortable and welcoming.

A little more storage space in the room would have been helpful and also some hooks on the doors. I found the shower head in the shower a bit difficult to manoeuvre and focus. These are just small points.

Room wasn't big but it was more than adequate for what I needed. The lady on reception was really friendly and very helpful. I ate in the hotel that night and the Mac Cheese was fab. I had a charity event the next day so it set me up nicely. I didn't make use of the honesty bar but could see there was plenty of choice. The bed was comfortable and the shower was nice and powerful. The room was clean and the towels were nice and big!

Nothing would happily stay there again

The room was very close to the trainstation! However if you are carrying luggage bare in mind it is up hill (I would recommend getting a taxi!) The hotel is a cute little one! They invest in what actually matters: super comfy beds, quality linen and pillow, proper warm shower! The single room is small however cause of the clever layout chosen it looks spacious! I have only stayed for an evening due to commuting requirements and I consider it is a perfect place for who commutes, working in the town or even if visiting Guildford and just needing a place for quality sleep and shower! Totally recommend!

The only little improvement I believe could be done is better noise cancelling. A person can easily listen noise from other room and corridors. Also better glaze for the same purpose would be beneficial. I have a deep sleep, however people that dont might find the rooms outlooking the main road a bit noisy.
