I can do no better than endorse another review which said "We stayed overnight the beds were really comfortable and we had a great nights sleep, we went in the bar for a meal and we could not fault it. I had the steak and ale pie the steak just melted in my mouth and so lean, the staff are so friendly and welcoming, the breakfast was spot on and cooked to perfection even had black pudding, we would recommend this lovely pub/ B&B and will definitely stay again, also dog friendly." We stayed 5 nights. The countryside round about is beautiful and places like the Grand Western Canal and Knighthayes are well worth visiting.

Our only problem was the narrow roads which we were not used to drivingn- access via Tiverton wwas definitely easier than via Cullompton

What a little gem the Butterleigh Inn is. Lovely friendly owners with a sweetheart of a dog. Comfy beds, lovely spacious rooms, tea, coffees, tv and toiletries in the bathroom. Everything was clean and felt fresh, but still homely. Decent showers which is always a plus after spending a day out on farms! Breakfast was done really well (had a full English) and great portion size. The evening I stayed, the landlady and the young lady working behind the bar, made me feel extremely welcome and found me a table in the bar area despite it being extremely busy, and I ordered the burger which was yummy. I really appreciated this, as sometimes it can be daunting being so far from home and a single female travelling for work. The B&B rooms are to the rear of the building and have a separate entrance to the main pub which made it feel safe, more private and was easy to bring my bags in from the carpark. I've no idea why so many B&Bs get it wrong (too OTT, or poor breakfast etc.), but this place has got it spot on - a great village pub, great beers/food, with lovely atmosphere, clean and comfy rooms, perfect brekkie and lovely down-to-earth owners. You can enjoy the evenings with company in the pub, yet the rooms still feel separate and private. Perfect price! Would definitely stay again if in the area!

Absolutely nothing! Thank you so much for a lovely stay.

Excellent host and really friendly and welcoming local customers. Very comfortable and clean room. Plenty of easy parking right up to room entrance way. The food is excellent. This is our second stay, and we will be back next year god willing. Visiting from our home in Florida we stay at many Hotels and B&B's during our time in the UK, I have to say without doubt the full English Breakfast at the Butterleigh In is the best I have ever eaten, best ingredients perfectly cooked.

Nothing not to like.

The Butterleigh Inn is in Mid Devon and therefore is a good central location to visit all other areas of the county. Our hosts, Jo and Matt, run a friendly B&B bar and restaurant, the rooms are clean, functional, and cozy. The food in the restaurant is delicious and great value for money (a good selection of homemade meals) I can recommend the Fish pie. However, the breakfast is exceptional! Probably not everyone's cup of tea but the Inn has no TV, game machines, etc. which means the art of chatting/talking to the locals and other guests is alive and well. If you don't want to chat then there are board games that you can play if you want to be competitive.

The Inn's bar and restaurant aren't open on Sunday evening and for lunch and dinner on Monday even for people staying there. As Butterleigh has no other eateries or shops you have to travel 3-4 miles to get some sustenance.

We and our dog were made very welcome, the room was lovely, warm and cosy with plenty of tea/coffee supplies. It suited us perfectly for our overnight stay, with easy access to take our dog in and out. We had dinner in the bar - good standard pub classics available which was fine for our needs. My husband loved the local beers too. Breakfast was excellent and kept us full all day! Bar lady was very welcoming as were our hosts.

Every thing was good, Loads of tea and coffee and plenty of milk, great room, the staff where excellent very friendly and accommodating. Really nice bunch. Would highly recommend a stay there.

The only thing that let it down was that we did not get clean dry towels the next day, so, we had to use the damp ones from the previous night, we didn't mind but some people might so worth mentioning and making sure you check this every time on room service.

Stopover for us on the way to plymouth to catch ferry to spain. Friendly staff. Nice clean and comfy room. Good selection of beers. I loved the otter ale! In the middle of the countryside. Peaceful. Friendly locals. Motorbike friendly. Parked our bike in pub car park . Room overlooked it so was able to see it when needed! And the "FULL ENGLISH BREAKFAST" hss to be the best weve had for a long time!! Thanks Jo for your smiles and great hosting!

All good!!

We loved the location - might be isolated for some, but it was just up our street! The place was very picturesque, quaint and quiet. The pub/inn was really pretty. The accommodation was very comfortable - had a great nights sleep and the food at the inn was lovely homemade grub. They had lots to chose from. Just one thing a traditional steak was not on the menu, but there was plenty to choose besides.

apart from steak not being on the menu there was nothing to dislike.

A lovely pub with relaxing garden & quiet location. Landlady Jo was so friendly & welcoming: we arrived too early for check in & too late for booking in for the very popular Sunday lunch . Not wanting to bother them as they were very busy we pottered off for an hour. On return they said that they'd saved us some lunch if we wanted it! Glad they did- superbly cooked by Tom, who gave me a nut roast that was far better than I make. They didn't mind us taking it in our room so that we could watch the British GP. So helpful. Breakfast was very generous too. The bed was very comfortable. Tip: come in from the Tiverton road, not the little country roads that the sat nav gave us!

Nothing really. A chair in the bedroom would be useful

The breakfast was delicious and hot. The landlady was lovely and her dog was adorable. We were there for a wedding a few miles away and the room was comfortable and very clean.

Would have been lovely if we could have got a drink as we arrived just after 5pm, and had driven a long way, but, unfortunately, the bar was not open. The Inn is a few miles from the town so we had to get a taxi and the taxi’s are extortionate!
