Maru Maru Hotel

Staff were fantastic….very helpful and knowledgeable. Breakfast was plentiful with a lot of variety and again very nice, helpful waitresses. Hotel location is perfect for exploring the city, and the rooftop bar and swimming pool are great places to relax.

The Wi-Fi is very fiddly to connect, but once connected, it works fine

Plakseda.khalfani mamy and Frank were wondering staff who welcomed me with open arms. They even surprised me with a birthday cake during my short stay. They made sure I was comfortable and pleased my entire time. I will definitely book this beautiful hotel again when I arrive later this year. This place really made me feel like home away from home.

the location is just perfect, in the middle of most attraction of stone town. very clean place with panoramic view of the city at the rooftop bar and restaurant. the staff are very friendly and the service was just at its best.

just the air condition was a little noisy , otherwise my family and I regretted to have spent only 1 night at the hotel.

Breakfast was lovely and on the roof terrace. Lots of variety and good choice of fruits and foods. Rooms were clean and spacious. The location is fantastic and is right in the heart of Stone Town. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Lovely hotel and would recommend it.

Wow, i can fill a whole page about how Great this hotel is! I was in tears leaving thia place. Omg, it was over and beyond what i expected. When i was choosing this place, it was after reading all the reviews about hotels in stonetown, from top to bottom throughout all the review sites on the net. It was horrible reviews about all the hotels except this one,and i thought it must be too good to be true! But No, it is truly very, very good in reality, everything is 10/10 The staff is 100% the most service minded people in stowntown. The rooms and what i get in there is like 5* hotel, the facilities are so beautiful. And literally walking distance 5-10 min around the historical places and famously spots in stowntown. What u get for the price u pay is sooo cheap! Right now i arrived in a 5* hotel in Nungwi, and Boy' Maru maru hotel felt more like a 5* than this one here. I would come back anyday any time. An absolutely wonderful hotel, with the best of services and facilities. The location is perfect, in the heart of Stone Town. Beautiful place with a fantastic vibe and with comfortable and luxurious rooms. The rooftop is amazing, with a 360 degree view of Stone Town and sea view and best of all, the sunset view. Even the guided tours make a stop at the rooftop of Maru Maru. Additionally excellent pool and breakfast buffet! I would, no doubt, stay at the Maru Maru again, if ever in Stone Town again.

Our room faced the street outside and there was quite a lot of noise in the evening and a bit into the night, which made it a bit difficult falling asleep. A part from that, no complaints at all.

Great location and central to most things. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. Mosquito nets on the beds and i would recommend using them, as the little pests can get into the rooms. Breakfast was a great choice and i would recommend it. Though the room service for we ordered, was not really that nice, the pizza had an odd taste to it and the chicken wings didn't have much flavour. There only other thing to be careful of is that when it rains, the road directly outside the hotel seems to get really deep and almost a small river. Nice hotel though and i would stay here again.

Food is hit and miss and the road outside can flood quite deep in the rain.

Maru Maru is a located in the heart of Stonetown, just 5 mins from the sea front and 10 mins from the ferry terminal. Our room was very clean and cozy with a super shower. It offers everything you need for a short stay. Breakfast was served on the roof terrace and it was superb, with different choices each day. Service was exemplary. We reported problems connecting to WiFi and the next day an IT engineer had visited and fixed the issue. They even left a bottle of wine to say "sorry for the inconvenience".

The hotel hosts live music each night until 10.30pm, but the noise stops punctually. Given the central location, there is noise in the morning from the call to prayer and from a nearby school. If you are very sensitive to noise, you should take this into consideration.
