Hotel Melia Bilbao

WE'VE BOOKED A PREMIUM ROOM, RIVER/STREET VIEW, VERY COMFORTABLE, INCL. A LARGE BATHROOM. THE VIEW WAS SUPERB. BED SIZE AND QUALITY EXCELLENT. BREAKFAST BUFFET GREAT BOTH IN TERMS OF QUALITY AND VARIETY! VERY FRIENDLY STAFF IN THE FRONT DESK! LOCATION WAS ALSO GREAT, FEW MINUTES WALKING DISTANCE FROM A TRAM STATION AND ONE TRAM STATION AWAY FROM THE GUGGENHEIM MUSEUM.

THE STAFF IN THE BREAKFAST AREA DIDN'T SPEAK ENGLISH (WITH FEW EXCEPTIONS) AND WE HAD A COMMUNICATION ISSUE FOR ANY REQUEST OUT OF THE SELF-SERVICE BUFFET. F.I. ORDERING EGGS WAS DIFFICULT AND TIME CONSUMING. THE ROOM WAS VERY COMFORTABLE BUT THE AGEING OF THE BUILDING WAS EVIDENT.

Fine sized room,great location,very courteous check in/out service staff/spectacular looking hotel itself both inside & outside/view was magnificent from our room and worth the extra supplement/very large bed/lounge space in the room were much appreciated. Breakfast staff very courteous/cleanliness excellent. Bilbao is a beautiful City!🖐😃

Lack of English by bar & restaurant staff a drawback for us/poor quality meal served to us on our 1st night in the bar so sadly decision made no more dining in the hotel after that/late dining hours for main restaurant...2030/2230 is too late to eat dinner. Breakfast "hot food" was not good quality but made up for with great cold food selection & pastries!🙁

Our 2nd floor rooms overlooked a park which was hosting a rock concert on the first evening. We requested a room change, as we had not ordered a rock concert blasting at us. The staff were hostile and said they had only twin rooms, or we could pay for an upgrade. I immediately reacted against this, and eventually one of us was offered another room which we accepted - but this also overlooked the rock concert. Also, my friend was given the key to a room on arrival which actually contained other guests - very embarrassing. The receptionist had made a very unfortunate error.

Although a little dated, the hotel has very nice architectural features and interior decoration. The gym is of very good standard for a hotel gym, and great to have both sauna and outdoor pool nearby. The best thing, however, is the staff - they are absolutely wonderful. You can tell when people like their work, and they make small and large acts of out of proactivity and genuine interest for their guests. Thanks for being super friendly and supportive!

The breakfast was good but could be a little bit more inspiring, perhaps.

Liked the breakfast but would have liked more veggies. Food and service were excellent. Room was large with great views and location was perfect.

The lighting in the room was horrible. To dark to put makeup on in one of the bathrooms in our suite and too dark to sit at the table to read. One reading lamp by the bed, and one tall lamp in the living room. I would not stay here again until I knew I had access to more light. The lamps on the walls and in ceiling were too dim.

Short walk to the Guggenheim. Short walk to the centre for bars, cafés and restaurants. Close to the river and convenient for a tram stop. Next to a lovely park with dancing water fountains. Very good breakfast, including freshly made waffles (DIY).

The "swimming pool" is fairly small. But it is nice to have access to one. You probably need to do three lengths to match one length of a full size pool. Good for kids.

Loved the views from the hotel, a widely varied breakfast on offer including Bucks Fizz, Bilbao is an amazing place to visit and the cleanest looking city I have ever been in. The staff were very friendly and helpful and a maintenance man treated my daughter to a kit kat!!

We were placed below the Gym and could constantly hear people on the treadmill. Also, the breakfast was amazing but lacking in a proper english breakfast especially with only scrambled eggs available, hash browns, sausages and bacon need improving upon.

Great value for location and room size. It was perfect for visiting the Guggenheim, just a 10 minute walk. Some rooms have the view of the museum. We appreciated all the green spaces around the hotel in a park setting. also convenient was the tram stop outside the hotel. take a tram, to old town for example, for 1.75 Euro. Clean and easy and a scenic ride. We were traveling with a dog and the location of the hotel in a park was perfect. The area around the hotel is very clean and peaceful. I would stay here again. The hotel treated us very well for our anniversary.

parking ramp is a challenge. Difficult to enter. Some of the hotel hallways had worn carpet. We skipped the breakfast as it looked like industrial food.

The atmosphere is businesslike but at the same time warm and very comfortable. It has a very luxurious feel, as a result of the beautiful marble, the spacious lounge (10 floors high) and restaurants, the nice art and design et cetera. Personnel has a high quality standard (speaking English, which is not common in Spain) and taking time to give good advice.

Housekeeping could be improved somewhat (but we understand that this place is not easy to keep clean because of al the glass and marble).

Incredible room in a really lovely hotel. Clean and spacious with a great balcony overlooking the fountains in the park, and anything you might need in the room available. Hotel is in a really nice area close to the Guggenheim and an easy walk to the old town and funicular. The man who checked us in was great (I think his name was Zigor) and told us some history of Bilbao alongside a great restaurant recommendation.

Shower kept going hot and cold on the last morning. Otherwise couldn't fault anything else
