Hotel de Moura

Such a beautiful historical establishment, which kept the original character. It’s nice to see it being well maintained and original features preserved. Beautiful property! If added few features, I’m sure it will quality as 4 star and will be lovely pousada. Bed was spacious and very comfy. I’m sure room size is more than 12m2 (would advice property to check this info and update details on site, as other travellers might miss on booking rooms here because room size advertised incorrectly. Location is perfect. Free onsite parking available. Outdoor pool was lovely. Building has loads of communal balconies where you can sit and enjoy sun whilst having coffee. As I had to work from room, my request to have a desk was fulfilled - it was great! We loved our stay and would definitely recommend. Obrigada 🙏

Fridge in the room would be a big plus.

It's our 3rd stay in the hotel, showing friends Moura for their first visit to Portugal. We like this hotel for the location, secure parking and walkable to local restaurants. It's almost the only decent hotel in the small town. Having stayed in rooms in the front section of the hotel, we chose to try newer rear section of the hotel. It was quieter and close to the central courtyard. The Aircon worked fine and there were several English channels on the TV. Despite being in town, the hotel gives a feel of countryside . These is a large supermarket right behind the hotel.

We had the furthest room from the Reception so the WiFi was temperamental, so I used my 4G instead. The previous front rooms has stronger WiFi. Despite it being our 3rd visit, the breakfast hasn't improved. No hot foods except boiled eggs and ham cheese and assorted bread. Very continental. Unfortunately, the new wing also had hard beds and the only mirror was in the bathroom which was inconvenience. The wardrobe had no doors. Luckily our friends' room was slightly larger with a bigger wardrobe and mirror in the wardrobe. I believe some rooms were better decorated than others which is reflected on the price. Also, there was no hot water for a late shower, so shower earlier!!!!

Immediate attention and great friendly welcome. The building was even more amazing than I remembered from booking, right on the main square with a small park. You can park outside the hotel in spaces reserved just for guests, drop your bags and after check in move your car to their off road secure car park behind the hotel. The room was superlarge with a sofa and TV. Lots of hot water and big bath towels. Continental breakfast was all wonderfully fresh, and two coffee machines so no waiting. The lady managing breakfast was wonderfully attentive and replenished plates before they were empty.

Beautiful old building close to the centre of town. The old features had been retained and incorporated into the hotel which made it very characterful. Huge rooms that were very comfortable.

There was a deposit required for pool towels that was a bit clunky as it had to be paid in cash and we had to ask for the refund when we checked out as it wasn’t automatically repaid when we took the towels back. Also, there were not enough sun beds by the pool for us all to have one (we were only two couples). These are minor points though.

An impressive building outside and exceptional interior, a Convent in a former life. Location is pretty much central and the Castle only a short walk away. Castle was impressive and has a (most helpful) tourist information office within the walls. Views from the battlements and turrets are amazing. If this Hotel was in a larger town, it would no doubt be a classed as a Pousada, part of the Pestana group and prices to match. Free Parking available at rear of the property.

The room we stayed in didn't have a separate bathroom but shower, WC and sink were behind sliding doors and space was limited. Because of the architecture of the rooms, I would imagine that all were the same. There are no lifts avaliable at this hotel and anyone with a large amount of luggage would struggle. Although breakfast is included there are no other meals available and we struggled to find anywhere to eat on a Sunday night as all decent restaurants were closed in the vicinity of the hotel.

We loved our stay at the hotel de Moura. The atmosphere was very calm and relaxing, and our room was beautiful. The style of the hotel was very special in an understated way.There are two large terraces at the top of the hotel that has wonderful views across the landscape where you can relax or do a bit of yoga.The breakfast room was lovely and the breakfast itself was excellent-masses of choice and great quality.

The only thing I didn't like was the soap dispensers- but that's nothing .

A quirky, different type of hotel with very friendly, efficient staff. Breakfast was good, with quite a variety of choices. The bed was very comfortable, and the hotel is in a quiet area, within walking distance of several good restaurants. Drinks are also very reasonably priced. There is also a spacious parking area at the back.

The initial ground-floor room we were allocated smelt of drains, but we were moved to another room upstairs, which was lovely.

A nice hotel maintained in an old, classic style. Polite and helpful staff. Comfortable bed.

A rather small, shallow and old pool with a small terrace for sunbathing and only a few sunbeds available to all guests. A rather peculiar toilet in the room, with a sliding door that doesn't quite close, which doesn't make you feel completely comfortable. Likewise with the shower.

This is an impressive hotel, surprising it's only three-stars. It's in a lovely old historical palace, which has before been a monastery and a hospital (although it's been a hotel already for over a century). The upgrade room is incredibly spacious, the staff is very warm and full of knowledge about the city and surrounding areas. The city of Moura is very cute and historical, very pleasant for a Winter holiday. The hotel's pool is a converted water tank, in a secluded area behind an orange and lemon grove. Just exploring the hotel is an activity in itself, I couldn't leave before going all the way to the top level's terrace and getting the best view over Moura and the infinite fields surrounding it. I'm planning on returning and staying for a few nights so that I can do all the activities advertised in the hotel's booklet, such as wine and olive oil tastings, horse rides and canoeing.

The breakfast didn't have the full personality of an Alentejo breakfast (I'm thinking more cold cuts, local cheeses...), but I don't have breakfast anyway, so it steered me away from temptation 🤷‍♂️

Really nice and engaging staff with a lovely clean and fresh room for the night and great securing parking for my motorcycle. Although some may say the hotel is a bit dated, I really liked it's character and I had a great view. Nice breakfast which kept me going on my bike until supper time. Really beautiful town and I found a good restaurant to eat in. I would have no difficulty in visiting this hotel again.
