Scandic Grand Tromsø

Great location! Gorgeous view from my 8th floor room. Breakfast was very good, with a good variety. The location is convenient and close to everything.

The room was not ready for check-in until after 4:00. Be aware that you are not guaranteed to be checked in at 3:00. Housekeeping did not place more toilet tissue in my room when it was cleaned. When I asked reception for more, the young man said he could not provide me with more because he was working at the hotel alone. After repeatedly telling him I couldn’t go without tissue, he tossed a box of Kleenex on the counter. His nonchalant, and non-caring attitude was unnecessary. Unfortunately, stores were closed for Christmas, so I was unable to find tissue other than Kleenex at the 7-Eleven.

We reached late at night due to flight delay and i communicated well in advance to the hotel but still it was overbooked and send me to another hotel though i have already paid the full amount

Room a decent size for a City Centre location. Fridge in room which was handy, very warm if you like that. Shampoo, body Wash, hairdryer all included. Breakfast was superb. Truly everything you can imagine, gets very busy between 8 & 8.30 though. Centrally located plenty of restaurants within close versinity

Rooms to warm for my liking but that is personal choice. Maybe a safe in tge room would be a good idea. Maybe clear the pavement of ice outside of the hotel properly as ai did Dfall and bang my head.

The room was big and had a great view over the sea/mountains. It was a very comfortable bed and the shower was big with warm water right away. Breakfast buffet was incredible with salmon and avocado among the many many items. Only a short taxi ride at about 225 kroner each way. And the free coffee machines were greatly used 😉

No tea/coffee facilities in room but had machine in reception for back up. There is a club right next door, which was fairly loud. We were not bothered by it as we were so tired, but I could imagine it would disturb others.

Location and general quality.

Laundry room. The washing machine and dryer are a mess. Hotel guests do not care about them (that is to be expected) but it looks like hotel staff are not taking any care neither. The washing machine smelled like mold and was disgusting. The same applies to the dryer. Before i used it i spent half of the night cleaning it and rinsing using my own supplies bought in the store by the corner. It is a shame that such a nice hotel has such a bad laundry. It is free though, however I'd rather pay like for the coin wash but have it in decent shape.

Good location, situating at almost the center of the main street. The airport express stops right in front of the hotel, every 1/2 hour. Staff at the reception are super nice. They patiently offered us information about local restaurants, museums and etc. One of them helped me with my postcards delivery and one of them lent me his phone to make calls to local travel agency. They are all warm hearted and genuine :) Breakfast buffet was fresh with huge diversity, kicking off an awesome day for us! Definately will recommend to our friends if they visit Tromso!

Great big breakfastbuffet with sweet and savoury things, both meat and vegetarian stuff, different coffees, everything you would want. The bed was big and comfortable, good blankets, pillows, sheet and towels. Clean room with good air.

THERE WAS NO PARKING. That was our biggest criteria when choosing hotel and we had to drive to a parking hall, pay a lot and walk from there and carry our stuff. Not good, that was a big disapointment and they should NOT say there is parking. The bathroom was not good, took a long time for warm water, a part of the shower door was missing and the water got all over the bathroom floor. The sink was too small to easily fill a waterbottle, and the water tasted bad. No shelves or hooks for you stuff in the bathroom. We could hear all sounds through the window, people, music and traffic. Had to use earplugs. No fridge. The breakfastroom was tight with a lot of people and a lot of noice, not relaxing or peaceful tho eat there.

We arrived to the hotel very late as our flight was delayed and when we arrived to check in the hotel it was overbooked as there was no room for us, the receptionist managed to book us a nice bedroom in the hotel next to it free of charge for us, then on the next day they accommodated us in our bedroom for the reaming five nights we booked at the Scandic grand hotel, they also compensated us with a couple of nice food vouchers

The location esp. the room which has 180 degree view to the surrounding, hospitality and front desk officer are very helpful especially Håkon. He helps me to contact the tour agent for the aurora trip to reconfirm the pick up point since my emailed to the was bounced back and they did not pick up my call. He even went to our room personally to notify us the information about the pick up point and due time for the aurora tour.

The food everyday is the same. It will be more interesting if the restaurant change the menu for the breakfast every 2 days. It is good for people like us who stayed for 6 days. The coffee machine should have milk frothing to make cappuccino. The restaurant is too noisy made by the patrons. The noisiest restaurant in the world that I ever seen.😅

Staff were rude, maybe a Norwegian trait. Two chatting men just Watched two older women drag our bags up the front steps at 11.30pm then didn't make any conversation or even smile. We had just travelled 18 hours. They just handed us our room keys. Our room request of a jug was not fulfilled. No tea or coffee in rooms. When we asked for some ice we were handed a cup of ice and the receptionist was rude as well
