Anchorage Motel Apartments

The staff were very friendly, The facilities suited us very well as we could drive in and leave our car roughly there when doing a day trip to Milford Sound. We also booked a private courier to Milford Sound with Envy Experiences next door which was brilliant and made the trip very comfortable and smooth, even during peak season. There are cheaper alternatives, but this one suited us very much so.

Bring flip flops for the carpeted floor, even though it is cleaned properly.

Full amenities, including a kitchenette with stove, silverware, and sewing kit, located within walking distance from the town and Lake Te Anau, friendly staff, designated free parking spot for each room, large room size

No daily room service offered due to COVID impact, but the full amenities and the extra toiletries provided were a nice touch. The door for the room is a see-through glass door opening inward. It is impossible to have both the door and the curtains closed when we leave the property. As such, anyone who walks by can see the interior of the room when it is vacant. Te Anau is a small town that is very safe, so it is not a major concern, but it would be better if the door opens outward, so we can leave the blinds closed when leaving the property to enhance privacy.

Loved the hot tub. Very good location, as it was in between town and the walks we wanted to do. Easy to find. Tidy room on the compact size. Everything supplied was of very good to excellent quality - loved the Forest & Bird bathroom products. Loved the heated floor in the bathroom. Rooms lovely and warm. Good blackout curtains a bonus (especially for anyone coming here in summer)

It's an older style motel that's had a lot of work done to lift up the rooms so they're very toasty and comfy but some limitations still apply - room configuration is compact and we did hear our neighbours when they were moving about, but not so much to be annoying.

Easy to find, and a good location within walking distance of the tour departures, shops, restaurants but also completely quiet. The room had a very good kitchenette and a splendid bathroom. Towels were 5-star in quantity and quality: top-notch. And a spare blanket, and a hairdryer. It had aircon/heating and even had Netflix (most unexpected - wow). And a bottle of milk on arrival. So absolutely no complaints except the basic design of the motel ....

I simply don't like American-style motels in which the whole of the front wall of the room is a window and a sliding glass door, with a really insubstantial lock. You have to close the curtains if you want to lie on the bed in your undies watching TV. I would have chosen somewhere else if I'd spotted that the Anchorage has this "classic American" design flaw. But there was otherwise nothing wrong with the room at all. Far from it: I just don't feel at ease in glass-fronted sliding-door motel rooms. And btw asking the guest to do self-check-in on a tablet while the person on reception just sits behind the desk and stares at them is NOT good customer service. You're already paying the receptionist - act like human beings and engage with the customer!

Loved the location, walking distance to town, the staff were lovely, very cute and friendly cat, we were able to leave luggage while we did a hike and then could come back, good laundry service and drying rack for things that can’t go in dryer, decent size room, had a bath after the hike which was delightful, little sunny courtyard was nice as well

It was a little bit noisy with the other people outside the room at night time just on one night we were staying (out of 5 nights) so not a big deal and it would have been amazing to have oil, salt and pepper in the room for cooking if I’m being very particular!

The apartment was large with a TV in every room and well stocked with the necessities. Easy on site parking with laundry facilities. Staff were nice and replenished any requirements when they serviced the room. Good value, lovely stay.

Some attention required to check equipments are in good condition - for example ironing boards worn and torn both in the room and in the laundry; smoke detector dangling from the ceiling.

The location, room and staff were awesome! We were really well looked after and the facilities were clean and the staff were very friendly and accomodating of us! Thank you so much and if we ever come back we would seriously consider staying here again.

The only thing was the internet which was patchy for me and great for my husband. However, being on holiday that was not a bad thing having no wifi! Other than that, everything else was great!

Travelled with family, booked 2 x 2-bed apartment, 2 studio and 2 studio executive - with Spa Bath. Prefer the 2-bed apartment. All rooms are equipped with kitchen & free wifi. Located close to the lake, only one street off the lake. Spent 2 nights, nice and quiet place to stay. Excellent base to Milford Sound.

car park in front of the room (space quite tight). There are coin operated washing machine and dryer, quite old. My only request would be to replace with new washer and dryer.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was bigger and much nicer than expected. The private hot tub was perfect, and the bathroom, which was very clean and large, also had a jacuzzi tub. The motel was easy to find and on a quiet street very close to the lake. The bed was very comfortable. We wished we could have stayed longer. The photos online didn't do the motel justice.

The parking was tight and other guests didn't necessarily park well. But it was maneuverable.

The location was OK, near the town centre with lots of resultants nearby. The room was comfortable and warm with heated floor in the bathroom that seemed to keep the whole motel room warm. The staff were very friendly and happy to assist.

The car parking in front of the room was short and difficult to park leaving little space for other cars to drive past. No other issues.
