Hotel van der Meer

Quaint, quiet hotel in an excellent location by a scenic canal near the town centre. Plenty of parking spaces. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was fine, but we had to ask for milk for the cereal + tea, as there was none out. Not a problem, as we were given some immediately. The Frisian cinnamon-sugar bread in the breakfast selection was really delicious with our tea / coffee.

A pretty old house right in the center of beautiful Dokkum. Rooms featuring many details and combining modern state of the art amenities with the historic charme of an old house to perfection. Staff was very friendly amd the restaurant offered creative cuisine with a local touch. For sure a top option when staying in Dokkum.

Yes, the rooms are large, clean, quiet, have excellent air conditioning, and superb showers. But what really sets the hotel apart is the service level provided by the outstanding staff. Every staff member we encountered was helpful, friendly, and kind. Oh yes….and the breakfast was terrific.

One of my all time favorite hotels. Very friendly staff, very clean and quiet room at the end of the hall, good ventilation system, comfortable bed, good shower. Equally important, they have an outstanding restaurant downstairs with delicious vegetarian choices, generous portions, and excellent service. There is also a secure bike storage room with remote security. Breakfast was also delicious and generous.

I stumbled across Hotel Van Der Meer whilst working nearby in Dokkum and I have to say what a great place to stay. It's been modernised, the rooms are very stylish and comfortable, the staff are fantastic and friendly and the location in Dokkum superb just near the canal and drawer bridge. But best of all by far the wonderful food. Book now!

Great location. Modern large room. Very spacious bathroom.

Noisy. Even though it’s a new extension and well insulated the windows had vents on them, which, even when closed, let the road noise in.

Everything, an absolute gem of a hotel, recently refurbished and done so well, the rooms are wonderful, clean, modern and airy and bathroom fantastic. The staff are war, friendly and helpful and the food is fantastic! Brilliant chefs producing local food to the highest standard for this type of boutique hotel.

The waterflow of the shower is sufficient but for comfort I like more. Of course it is understandable considering the energy-crise.

Location is great, very central and right near the water. The rooms are new and good quality.

The stairs to the room are steep.

Breakfast was delicious, served at the table and warm rolls and croissants. Staff all very friendly and helpfull.
