Hacienda Sepulveda Hotel & Spa

My husband and I were headed on a road trip north when our suburban lost the transmission. Needless to say that could have been a very bad start to our vacation. But as we sat in the transmission shop I found this Hacienda. It has been three days now that we have stayed. I am not sure we are ready to leave now that our car is fixed. We have had amazing massages, amazing facials, amazing food, and a beautiful room. We will be back for sure. But this time with friends. We can hardly wait to share our good fortune with others.

The place is amazing, definitely you will enjoy tranquility, you will be connected to yourself and, if you are going with your family you will enjoy also the activities they offer.

Out of the town of Lagos de Moreno, so quiet and peaceful. Beautiful rooms in an old Hacienda, with a zen-like spa, and horses available to ride. If it hadn’t been for the pandemic, we would have felt completely safe, but it was filled to capacity.

It was a holiday weekend during the pandemic, and it was totally booked, which was upsetting to our group. Even though it was a holiday, we did not think that it would be up to 100% capacity, therefore it felt somewhat unsafe. There was no time between room turnover, as is recommended and advertised. Our 4 rooms weren’t finished being cleaned at check in time, and we had to wait at least 30 minutes in a busy lobby. The hotel seemed to be understaffed for such a busy weekend; room service was slow or even failed to deliver a few times. And they need to offer pedicures in their spa. The rest of the spa experiences were excellent.

The hacienda itself, my room, and grounds were delightful -- well manicured and clean. The staff was friendly and willing to be helpful, although they seemed a bit overwhelmed, as this was a holiday weekend in Mexico. Staff seemed to adhere to Covid procedures and social distancing -- all meals and events were in the lovely gardens/patios. Spa facilities were lovely and staff competent.

The only downside was a confused and extremely slow and inefficient check-in procedure.

Beautiful setting. Relaxing and quiet. A short drive to Leon to do some shopping for leather goods. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The spa is very nice and a perfect place to unwind with a massage. The food was excellent throughout our stay. The chef during our stay, Chabela, is exceptional. We were there for my BILs 80th birthday and they did a special dinner for 13, setting us up outdoors complete with mosquito repellent and a mesquite fire.

We had trouble with the hot water in the shower. Couldn't seem to keep it going for more than a few minutes at a time? Another couple in our group had the same issue in their room. Two other couples had no trouble. We informed the front desk and they were very nice about it but didn't seem to improve the situation overall. I suspect it's very old plumbing that's been upgraded periodically over the last 500 years since the property was originally built in the late 1500s. Also, there's places with standing water around the property which is a mosquito problem so be sure to bring plenty of repellent if sitting outdoors.

It’s a beautiful location, the only that lets it down is the food. The staff are extraordinary kind and helpful.

Unfortunately we came on a busy weekend and there were just too many people. The staff were overwhelmed.

Close to Lagos and lots of activities including the SPA.

Limited working space - not really set up for people working remotely. I was able to work in the library and wifi was ok, but would not recommend for longer hours.

Excellent breakfast for the price. I always like having peacocks around
