The room and bathroom were spacious and clean, shower and toilet worked well, and the bed was comfortable.

1. There's a karaoke bar a few doors away, and you will hear the singing and music in your room. If you need peace and quiet to sleep and/or you're a light sleeper, this hotel is not for you. 2. If you want hot water for a shower and not lukewarm water, tell management. I complained about the lukewarm water and a staff member said the water was solar powered but that he would turn on a switch (presumably he meant the immersion heater), and I had hot water from then on. 3. Make arrangements in advance if you need to check out or check in outside their working hours. The reception desk is unmanned after 10pm and I'm not sure what time they start work in the morning.

The location is very good, it is located in the old town and Chinatown of Alor Setar surrounded by cafes and restaurants. The bedroom and the toilet are spacious, the bed is comfortable, and they even have an essential oil diffuser in the room. Our room comes with a balcony with seating, which would be nice and relaxing if the weather is not too hot. The staffs are friendly, cleanliness is good.

The aircon seems to need to be changed, we face water leaking in the middle of the night, hope they could constantly check and maintain all the aircon in the rooms. Because there is no hotel staff after 10 pm until the next morning. But we can still contact them thru the hotel numbers.

The renovation of the place was very well done. Keeping original character but providing comfort and keeping area so clean too. We didn’t opt for breakfast at the hotel, so I cannot give any view on that.

Parking is limited. There’re only two reserved parking lots for the hotel. It was quite challenging to find a lot during the day time. I didn’t realise during booking time that there is no elevator for this hotel. Luckily my husband didn’t suffer from gout at that time. Otherwise it will be ver hard for him to climb up the stairs. Luckily our room is on the first floor.

Good location. The hotel location is strategic, easy to reach, walking distance of cafes and attractions nearby. Nice room. The room is nice. The bed and pillows are comfy and smell good. We took a room with a king-sized bed, which fit perfectly for 3 girls. There's an air refresher provided in the room (we got lemongrass scent), which is awesome because the bathroom is kinda open-bathroom concept. Others. Can refill your water bottle at the water dispenser at the receptionist counter. A lot of Instagramable spots in the hotel.

Parking. Pekan Cina Alor Setar is a bit similar to Georgetown Penang, so expect some parking issues. The hotel only has 2 reserved parking lot in front of the hotel, but based on first come first serve, they can't reserve the parking lot for you. Squeaking wooden floor. It's an old building. Expect some noises from people walking around in the room and in the corridor. See-through bathroom. There is a blind provided but you can still be seen, especially when the bathroom light is on. Maybe suitable for a couple, but kinda anxious to shower calmly when you're traveling with friends.

really tasteful decor and interior. lots of thought put into the design. wonderful heritage area loaded with food stalls and cafe. right beside the river. liza (is that how i spell your name?) was exceptional and did a mini walking tour around the area. This was the ONE big thing that made our stay perfect.

the next day we saw someone at the reception that could barely communicate and could not even order us a cab. what a contrast.

The location, the design of an antique shophouse, the staff are helpful and very friendly. Very flexible that they allow me to have early check in. They even lent me a nice bicycle.

The ceiling of the bathroom is actually semi penetrated. Which is the first time I've seen this design. No problem for solo travelers but may not be appropriate for friends.

The bed, the design, the place is all good.

Bar beside the hotel with constant banging of loud music which the hotel staff unable to help with the situation. The staff from the bar said they are legally to operate until 1am. I need to walk over to the bar for 2 continuous nights after 1am to ask them lower the volume.

Helpful staff

Very noisy, partly because a bar over the back where loud music went on until after midnight. Also, many motorbikes riding around continuously beeping horns. Maybe this was only because the general election was the next day. Also because election was the next day there were no staff on duty overnight. The staff made it easy for me to let myself out.

A unique hotel which sat on a row of old shop houses. Suitable for those who love vintage. Our room although not to spacious, is very clean. Hotel staff is also helpful and friendly. It is only a few steps away from my favorite cafe, Cafe Diem.

Although no breakfast served, it is not a problem as there are plenty of food to be hunted outside

Beautiful cozy hotel. Close to a lot of nice cafes and by the riverside, nice for sightseeing. Love the hotel design. A mix of classic and modern industrial. There's a small rooftop pool with seating area and a toilet too. The view is amazing. Love that our room also have an arcade console, got us occupied for hours!

Parking spot is very very very limited.
