Karuizawa Prince Hotel West

We booked the West Cottage with 2 bed room and a spacious living room. The cleaning crew were all very hardworking and did their job very well. The bed is very comfortable. The convenient store Family Mart makes life very convenient. It was very easy process to rent ski equipment and buying ski pass. 1 min driving distance to the shopping outlet mall.

We had to rely on shuttle bus to get to the cottage from the main hotel lobby, otherwise it would be a 10-15 minutes walk. It would be a disaster if anyone forgets something from the cottage. There is a sink at the pantry but no dish washing detergent to clean the dishes after use.

I travelled with children and chose to stay at the cottage type E with 2 bedrooms which was great for us as cottage was spacious and the kids can move around comfortably. While we stayed it was snowing for 2 days and the morning view on the porch of the cottage was superb. The room temperature was also very well controlled as we do not feel too cold inside the cottage at all while the outside was very cold.

The room is a little old, though it is all very clean. The bed mattresses are slightly thinner than usual hotel bed and somewhat on a softer side so it can get a bit uncomfortable. There is no shower cap provided even when we asked the housekeeper for one they said they do not have it which is a little odd to me that hotel do not provide shower cap.

Clean, spacious, comfortable room. Super convenient location! There are shuttle minibusses available to transport guests around the property, including from the station to the hotel. We arrived by Shinkansen and opted to walk along the Shopping Plaza to the lobby. We tried the breakfast and dinner buffet. Delicious food, but we wished there were more options. Lots of dining options at the Plaza if you don't want to eat at one of the hotel's restaurants or go to the town. Facilities exceeded our expectations; convenient store just off the lobby, efficient laundry service, etc. The onsite ski park (including rentals and private lessons) was an overall pleasant experience. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable.

The hotel's overall design is dated, albeit clean and efficient. Our renovated room was located very far from the lobby and restaurants. We wish there were more options at the breakfast and dinner buffet.

My recent stay at this hotel was nothing short of delightful, thanks to its beautifully designed rooms that radiated a sense of comfort and style. The cleanliness level was remarkable, maintaining high standards throughout. What truly set this hotel apart was the warmth and professionalism of its staff; they were consistently friendly, greeting us every day and readily available to assist with any needs. The shuttle service to the nearby premium outlet was a wonderful convenience, adding ease to our travel plans. The well-organized shuttle schedule, available on handy flyers and the information board, was a thoughtful touch. This hotel excelled in creating a welcoming and efficient environment, making our stay thoroughly enjoyable.

Cottage was cozy and I liked how it was split into 2 ensuites and a common area, it was spacious. The shuttle bus /car was also helpful to get around the ski resort.

Just be cautious that the cottages are quite far away from all the restaurants / shops / ski area, which means requiring shuttle transport everytime (take 10-15 mins plus waiting time). Once we got back from ski it is hard to get back out into the cold again to fetch food... In the cottage there was only a hot water boiler hence we end up ate cup noodles a few times being lazy, would have been a plus if they offer a microwave...

The location is very good, just take 5 mins walk to the Prince Shopping Centre, which is next to the Karuizawa JR station. There is a Family Mart (convenience store) in the hotel lobby, having quite some choices of goods, very convenient to buy snacks and fruit in the hotel premises. The hot spring is well designed and clean, worth to try. We are especially pleased with the services, the concierge staff are very helpful. While we are not very familiar with the shuttle bus schedule, we miss the shuttle bus direct to the Karuizawa station on the check out date and the staff is arranging a separate pick up to take us to the station, much appreciated.

Staff is super friendly and helpful. The room is spacious, well equipped, clean and cozy. Everything is very comfortable and relaxing. Absolutely loved the onsen to relax after a long day of skiing/snowboarding. There's a convenient store next to the lobby that sell quite a lot of things. I think what's great is that you can walk directly to rentals and a ski lift right behind the hotel. It's also a short walk from the outlet mall and there's shuttle buses to get around the area.

I think the location is not the best, as you kind of have to rely on the shuttle bus to get to main areas. The shuttle bus doesn't come by too frequently, but there're several routes. Onsen and the rentals was like a 5-10 minute walk from our room, on the other side of the hotel. I guess it's good that at this side of the ski area there're less people to queue for lifts and rentals, but the main side is quite a distance away. To be honest the outlet and Shinkansen station is quite far away too. Walk-able but not the most convenient. There're also not a lot of budget-friendly restaurants at night too. You have to go out to the outlet area.

The place was very spacious and surrounded by trees. It was peaceful and clean. The location is near the main attractions.

The place is huge and the cabin we got was a little far so we had to wait for the shuttle everytime we had to go out of the cabin. The hotel staff were kind and helpful but communicating in English was a bit of a challenge. I should note though that most of their guests are local tourists.

The room was super nice. Very nice design, roomy, and is comfortable. The hot spring was good, too. Location was perfect!!

We were not aware of no dinner served after 7:30 pm. We ended up paying the same regular buffet price for the almost closed buffet, food was a bit dried and cold, only 15-20 minutes to take food. The area was quite a quiet vacation area, I would appreciate a little reminder when we book the hotel. The buffet restaurant staff were very friendly, not rushing us to finish the food. Thank you.

The service was excellent! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Regular shuttle buses were provided from the main hotel to Karuizawa station as well as from the cottages to the main hotel. We stayed in a cottage and it was so cosy comfortable it felt like home! Highly recommended for those with a family.

Our cottage stay did not include the hot bath. We had to pay 2000¥ per visit which is rather costly.
