Hotel Hakuba

The service was exceptional. The hotel was really nice and it felt warm and welcoming. I made advantage of the immenities including the onsen, the breakfast buffet and the laundry. They had a shuttle service taking guests to every mountain. We had a car but it would have been great if we didn't. It was a bit tight for 3 friends to share one room. I would say this accommodation is more suited to families and couples. Or two friends compared to three.

The mattresses were not the softest, nor the pillows. There is not many restaurants close by apart from one, where it is traditional Japanese and expect you to drink to have food.

Everything went well, staff are amazing and couldnt have been more helpfull. We booked the breakfast and dinner option and were not disappointed. All staff were exceptional. Just all the little touches that one would not expect. Picked us up from the station at Hakuba and on leaving returned us on time we had requested. I only hope we are able to return again in the future. I just loved the Hotel, the area walking around Echoland, great Australian Cafe in main street had great food! Happo One was bit disappointing seemed run down and almost everything was closed. Lions Cafe on corner of Happo One entrance was excellent for coffee and food. We were there in November and were lucky enough to get snow which is what we were hoping for, what an enchanting place .Thank you all!! Suzi and Leslie

Okay one thing only we do not drink Green Tea, it would be a great idea for the hotel to have Earl Grey or English Breakfast as well in guests rooms. Yes they are available at Breakfast Buffet and Dinner Buffet. We love our tea!

Clean comfortable rooms; friendly and helpful staff; delicious buffet breakfast and dinner with good array of Japanese and western dishes......plastic gloves provided to diners to keep buffet serving utensils sanitary; lobby and hotel entry beautifully decorated with colorful flowers and plants in season (visited in July). Location is somewhat rural / residential which makes for nice countryside walks. There is a free outdoor public onsen footbath about 5 minutes walk from the hotel (bring your small towel to dry off) as well as several small restaurants nearby. There are also a few hiking/outdoor shops nearby (Snow Peak w/ Starbucks, NorthFace, etc). Also as a bonus in July we were able to see fire flies near the hotel. Hotel Hakuba provides pick-up shuttle service to and from the train and bus terminals upon request. They also have scheduled shuttle service to various sightseeing spots like the Hakuba Happo gondola station. For convenient independent hands-free travel, Hotel Hakuba does provide baggage delivery service to and from major airports and other hotels. Will definitely stay here again.

Great surprise: old but gold. Everything you need and more. Exceptional staff and amazing scenery. Great big rooms with walk in wardrobe and separate bathtub. Onsen available. Two sofa and chair, microwave - cooking hob - sink (!) and room air purifier amongst the extras. Wonderful dinner / breakfast buffets of local food (congee/stirfry/garnish) and western cakes/pastry/desert. Wonderful staff (Nepal waiters/local front desk) caters to all your needs even when crowded. Weather permitting the view is breathtaking alp peaks.

Aged facilities but well maintained. Two water levels (hot / cold) instead of one hard to adjust water temperature.

Offers a shuttle service to and from the train station. Staff were exceptionally helpful and went above and beyond on several occasions to help us out. Location is outside of the echoland hub so is nice and quiet but still a quick 5 minute drive or 15 minute walk away to the action. Offers lockers for ski gear and is a part of several bus routes for most of the snow resorts.

Beds were a little hard but that is just personal preference really.

Comfortable rooms, kitchenette was very useful. Parking was adequate. Heating was comfortable.

Insufficient storage space in the room. Space under TV should be converted into drawers. Booking process was very confusing on the pricing and payment, but this is a fault of booking.com, not the hotel I be lieve I have been overcharged by booking.com because payment made was more than the final price.

The view from our room of the mountains was absolutely breathtaking. I loved the town and our location. Although it wasn’t in the central area it was only a small walk to food. The ski hire was super easy and helpful. The shuttle bus was amazing and the staff were so kind to us. I would definitely stay here again.

I didn’t love the breakfast, gave it a miss on our second morning. Considering the amount of tourists I’d imagine in the area especially in peak season I’m surprised there weren’t more western options.

Really great breakfast buffet, a lot of variety. Comfortable and spacious room. The hotel had their own ski rental shop and free shuttle bus service which was very convenient for us. Beautiful location, also convenient to get to ski slopes. Exceptional staff, so very helpful and caring. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Lovely hotel with super staff. Very well maintained building with great services including a perfect breakfast and dinner option. Short walk from train and bus stations. Offer shuttle ride to train station which worked well in the rain. Will come back in the winter when there is snow on the slopes.

Hotel rooms are a little older but still worked well for us. The view of the mountains more than compensates.

Breakfast & dinner - traditional set types. Excellent! Room - see below Staff - excellent! especially the restaurant staff who went beyond their call of duty! 10/10

Room - not ideal. No place to hang towels in bathroom, no place to put luggage bags, no table to put things at a raised level. Everything has to be put on the floor.
