Although the room is small, the layout is comfortable and reasonable, and the front desk service staff is young, handsome, beautiful, professional and polite.

The mattress is too soft and the pillows are not very comfortable.

We loved staying at this boutique hotel during our stay in Kyoto, and it was our favorite during our 10 day trip in Japan. We stayed in a double twin room and it is enormous given the typically room size of a hotel in Japan. I loved that there are only 4 rooms per floor and we did not once hear others entering or exiting their room. Check-In was a breeze and both front desk staff were helpful and spoke English well, and were great with some tips on places to visit. The hotel was also in a great location. It is about a 15 minute walk to Ninezaka Street and a 5 minute walk to the beautiful Kenninji Temple. The nearest train station was about an 8 minute walk. There was also a great ramen restaurant just around the corner. Again our family loved this hotel and location.

Check-In time was at 4 here, so it is a bit later than usual, but the front desk staff were helpful in holding our luggage until then.

Right in the heart of the Gion district. Very traditional style building. Next best thing to a Ryokan. The room (twin beds), was actually the most spacious we were allocated throughout our trip to Japan. Easy access to public transport. Information re breakfast cafes provided by reception.

Routine cleaning only done every 4 days unless you paid ¥3000. Nowhere to unpack/ hang clothing, so living out of a suitcase and everything creased. Water and coffee available but had to ask each day at reception. We found this to be a little unwelcoming. Every other hotel we stayed in had coffee available on a shelf for guests to pick up and water was left daily outside each room. This was much better, in our opinion. Having said all that, we liked this hotel very much.

The hotel is located near the Gion-Shijo station, very conveniently situation between the old quarters of Kyoto and the bustling Kawaramachi area. A bit of walking is necessary to reach the Kyoto Kawaramachi station over the river to get to other parts of Kyoto. The room was large by normal Japan standards, comfy beds and air conditioning, quiet surroundings. The room we had was with twin beds and is as depicted in the pictures provided by the hotel. There were plenty of hot water, nice shampoo, conditioner and body shower gel provided in a clean bathroom. Other amenities can be picked up at the lobby. A coin laundry is available too on site. The staff are kind and helpful, the atmosphere of the hotel and the area were peaceful and safe. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Nothing.

This small boutique hotel is in a great location in Gion, about 5 minutes walk to Gion Corner, about 10 min to Yasaka Shrine and to Takashimaya Department Store across the river. Ninnenzaka is about 15 min, Kiyomizu Dera about 20. The standard rooms are small but nicely decorated and clean. The bathroom is very small, like a prefab cube, but also clean. Some of the Superior rooms are nice, my friends got one on the 4th floor with a balcony and a perfect view of Kyoto and the mountain, and the beautiful Kenniji Temple. My Superior room however was on the second floor on the street side with no view and no balcony. One friend got a standard room on the ground floor which has a small deck facing the high wall. There are many shops and restaurants nearby (including a 7-11 about 2 min walk.) However very few cafes open before 10 am. The hotel has no breakfast offer but they have a list of nearby cafes and restaurants. For those who stay long, they have a small laundry room and a microwave for use. The check-in staffs was welcoming.

Our group of 8 stayed in 5 rooms for 3 nights. We understand the only clean rooms once every 3 nights so our rooms would not be cleaned during our stay. (They do provide towels for each day though.) But they only set 2 coffee capsules for 2 people per room, so on the second day one of us asked for more. The reception gave 2 capsules and on the 3rd day, the staff was unwilling to give and insisted they had to charge us! This, I find ridiculous, we were staying for 3 nights we should get 2 capsules each night, shouldn’t we? Our group gave you 15 room nights in all but only one room ask for daily coffee and you are going to charge us? This is irritating, if you have such a policy, please inform us like the cleaning rule.

Perfect location on quiet street in Gion, close to subway and sights. Cute Japanese style boutique hotel with western beds. Staff was nice, friendly and helpful. They helped with Takkyubin forms and you can bring luggage to 7/11 around the corner. Coin washer and dryer in lobby is very helpful and they sell detergent at front desk. Would definitely recommend this Inn.

Rooms are small but we knew this going in. Just requires organizing where to put suitcases and more than two small suitcases would be tight.

I loved our stay here! The staff was excellent and went above and beyond for us. They were also very helpful. The location was excellent!!! It's in the Gion area and there are a lot of food places around. The room is great. The room was pristine. I loved the cuteness and the cleanliness of the bathroom. There was also a coin laundry which was perfect.

Room is smaller than I thought it was going to be. However, it's decent enough. I wish there was a water dispenser somewhere rather than paying and using a lot of plastic water bottles.

The location of this lodging is just about perfect. It's on a narrow street just a moment's walk from the main street that leads to the Yasaka Shrine. In fact, it has its very own temple right next door with a lovely garden path. There are numerous restaurants and shops nearby, and Nishiki Market and the shopping district are within easy walking range. The facility is very clean and attractive. There are ample outlets for electronics and the beds are very comfortable. Also, GREAT air con!

The room was extremely small and there was nowhere to open luggage except on the floor, which then precluded walking around the room. There was one small stool to sit on and the desk was crowded with tea kettle, lamp, Nespresso and amenities. We stayed four nights and I was about at wits end.

The location of this quaint hotel is excellent. It's on a quiet street with not much foot traffic so it was calm. It's not far from the subway, the main shopping street, and you can walk to the the Higashiyama Ward, Gion district and Kiyomizu Temple. It had 2 washer/ dryers which was great. I was up at 4am so I took advantage to do my laundry. I don't know how available they are during the day. The staff was very friendly but for some English was spotty but with hand signals, google translate and a smile it's all good. They all wanted to help.

Bring an eye mask if light affects your sleep. Lights from the HVAC & fire system were bright. This was not a problem as I was a solo traveler, but the room was small. I had to walk around my suitcase in the hallway to get to the toilet. I don't how it would have worked if there were 2 large suitcases. Then again, this was a room for one. Maybe the other rooms are larger? There are a few rooms on the 1st floor. I would not want to stay in them. Too close to the laundry, people coming in and out, etc.

LOVED the location and style of this hotel. Was such a great change of pace from starting in Shinjuku! The staff were incredibly helpful and even helped me secure a reservation (that I wasn't even aware of needing) to a beer garden on our last night. So happy to have been here and can't wait to come back!

This is totally on me, but I was super disappointed at first because it appeared to our room did not have an actual window. However, once I played with the blinds and discovered that you just have to slide them out of the way, I immediately felt 1000% better! Plus we had a lovely view of the street below, so it was almost like a hidden treasure.
