Sotetsu Fresa Inn Kobe Sannomiya

First time in Japan, the staff was very welcoming and they helped in various situations (lost my bag in a bar and they called it for me to make sure they could wait for me to get there and get it, they printed me a paper full of places where I could have used certain food stamps I received at work, I locked myself out of my room, etc.). Position is top-tier (seven eleven literally next to the hotel), very close to the station too. Check in and check out were super easy!

Only one of the employee has a sufficient level of English, so it was quite a struggle to communicate with them. I didn't know I had to put a magnet outside of my room to make them know I wanted it to be cleaned, so that was another thing I wish they could have told me beforehand. Smoking area wasn't great either, if you care about those things. Room was small - given the price and the area though, it was still a bargain.

The hotel can be easily accessed from the train station. There are plenty of food options and convenience store downstairs. I love the free amenities available for guests as well as the amenities for rent, it is extremely thoughtful for this service. Check-in and out process can be easily done via the kiosk machine. Hotel staff were helpful and friendly and are able to converse in English which is a plus. There's also coin laundry, vending machine and microwave available for use!

Just a few minor and not so important matter. - The pillow is quite hard, but I think it could be easily resolved by requesting for another, I'm just lazy. - Will be good if there are more hangers during cold season because of the number of layers and jackets we are wearing. Other than these, nothing else that I dislike of.

Very nice and helpful staff. Very clean, the rooms look like new. Great location, restaurants around. Sannomiya station 5 mins away. Only a 15 mins walk to shinkansen station. Of course, very small rooms - but you cannot expect huge rooms in Japan :) I really have no major complains and would stay there again for sure.

Two details here. There was a long waiting time for elevator in the morning - sometimes the elevator came already full and it was necessary to wait for the next one, it could take even 10 mins. So if you want to go out quickly in the morning, better take the room on a low floor and use stairs. Also, there is no space to unpack your luggage in the room, you have to keep all the clothes in your suitcase on the floor.

This is my 2nd time staying with Sotetsu Fresa chain in a different location. Location was great. Loads of food options and groceries options. 5mins to the train stations and the bus terminal. Very happy with my stay.

Just that the other guests have to be mindful not to be loud at the corridors. They could put a sign up for that reminder.

Train station and major attractions are just a short walk away. Very easy check-in/check-out procedure. Very attentive staff when needed: took care of my luggage for half a day after I checked out.

The bathroom isn't the most cozy. Luckily, we didn't have to use the shower, because there's a nice onsen nearby.

The location, cleanliness and comfort.

I didn't quite like the breakfast menu. I wish there were more choices for Continental or American breakfast foods. Also the woman in the restaurant wasn't clear about where we should get our food. She just kept repeating "Counter" I didn't exactly understand what she was trying to say.

Super clean and close to Sannomiya station with plenty of good restaurants around including one in the hotel itself. Very quiet room even though in such a central location. Really liked option of choosing own non-essential amenities from a corner of the reception area to keep down waste. Nice simple room layout.

1 very small annoyance after a long journey there- the check in machine wasn't great- asked for passport which I didn't have with me and didn't give the option of residence card instead. However, the reception staff sorted it out quickly.

The location on a pedestrian only street, close to great food, transport and shopping. The restaurant for breakfast within the building, off the entry lobby was fabulous. Smaller hotel and restaurant with a low key feel.

The checkin process, via a machine seemed a little tiresome when you arrive exhausted.

Very close to 7 eleven and restaurants and station/ bus transits. Majority of the staff can speak very well English. The laundry room is very convenient.

We were not assisted in arranging luggage transfer service to our next destination.

Good location at the hear of the city: 2 min walk to Sannomiya station with trains of different companies

Parking is at a nearby affiliated multi-storey car park, but no re-entry is allowed.
