Hotel Albatros

The hotels location was great.

The hotel seems quite tiered and is in need of a refresh. the pool was freezing and there was algae on the hand rails into the Jacuzzi. Nearly all of the sun bed tables were broken and had to be wedged on the sun beds to stop them falling over. I could go on and on about the things that were broken.

The pool is lovely and lounge chairs were always available. It's also great that there is a fully shaded area in front of the poolside cafe, which was most welcome during the hot afternoons. The view of the Sea and the sunsets were spectacular. The shuttle service into town is a big plus when you don't feel like taking the 20-minute walk. Everyone at the Reception Desk works very hard to help guests, even those of us who are not fluent in Italian. The breakfast buffet includes a wide variety of choices to suit all tastes. Giovanni, the Maitre d', is the real-life "Carson" from Downton Abby, a dedicated professional who pays attention to every detail, as does his staff, making mealtimes truly memorable.

Since the Albatross doesn't have an elevator, we requested a room on the ground floor. Room #4 was very large and had a nice terrace, but it might not have been used for a while before we checked in. Initially, it needed to be aired out and the bathroom faucet needed to be replaced because it made a loud groaning noise. The good thing is that management took care of the faucet as soon as we reported the problem the next day. The only thing that needs improvement is the lighting in that section of the hotel. Perhaps a sensor might help because it's almost impossible to see the door keyhole at certain hours. Finally, I'd recommend that the bottom step leading down from the swimming pool to the ground floor be painted white because it's easy to "miss."

We were a bit skeptical about this booking but upon arrival our nerves were put to rest, the pictures on the website don't do this place justice (not for the room we stayed in anyway). We got picked up from the port (Forio) and taken straight to the hotel by a very lovely driver who pointed out important information on the way. Check in was easy (we stored our bags and went out for a bit) and informative. We had breakfast included which was a typical Italian breakfast buffet. LOTS of cakes, as well as bacon, eggs, toast, meats, cheese, tomatoes, cereals, fruit as well as coffee and juices. The staff at breakfast were lovely. The room itself must have been recently updated as it was nothing like the pictures. It was modern, very clean (including the bathroom) and super comfortable. We had a huge balcony overlooking the pool and the ocean. Two nights in a row they had aperitivo where they had entertainment and some snacks on down by the pool bar during sunset. It was perfect and such a nice touch. The location for us was fine, you can take the shuttle to and from Forio Town, to the hotel and to a beach/thermal pools a bit further up the road (you just need to prebook). But for us, we mainly walked as it was only about 15 mins and the view takes your mind off the slight hill on the way back to the hotel. We honestly loved this stay and I'm so glad we took the chance and booked it. Highly recommend!!

Nothing to report. We enjoyed every aspect

Hotel was fabulous, pool area clean, quiet and relaxing. We had a deluxe sea view room and the balcony was huge, over looking both the sea and the pool. Worth noting that the shower was really powerful. We had lunch at the snack bar one day it was delicious. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were delightful, always offering more coffee! Reception staff were helpful from the moment of check in right to check out,making restaurant reservations and calling taxis. Short stroll to Forio centre and Citara beach. I'd return over and over again and recommend it highly to anyone going to Ischia

The location of the hotel is perfect if you're looking for a peaceful, not overcrowded destination. And it's still in a 15-min walking distance from Forio center. It's a cozy, welcoming hotel, with great sea views from the pool and from the terraces in the upper floor rooms. The stuff is helpful and always trying to meet you half-way when communicating :) I highly recommend the hotel restaurant with its diverse menu - the restaurant manager was always very attentive and helpful, making us feel comfortable. The pool is small, but nice, surrounded by green hedge and bushes, a hotel bar is located next to it.

There is no lift, which can be a problem. The airport-to-hotel transfer is a bit pricy. It's organised by an external agency and you get a vague desription of the steps (e.g. a taxi driver will pick you up and give you the ferry tickets). Some drivers accompany you door to door and instruct (like the gentelman who picked us up on the airport and brought to the port), some don't explain much so you can get a bit overwhelmed when you are being dropped in a port and handed over the tickets or get into a black van as the only passenger :D

The staff were amazing, specially Donatella and Vincenzo at the reception who made sure our stay is pleasant and everything is sorted. They gave a lot of information and helped facilitate many activities and transfers. Also Maitre and his team - always attentive. We had dinner for my mom’s birthday and they made sure everything is perfect. The location is the best you can think of for Ischia and Forio. It is just a few minute walking distance from the center of Forio where you can find many lovely bars, restaurants and shops. I read someone say you have to be a marathon runner to get to Forio… my mom turned 68 and absolutely loved the evening walks to the center by the picturesque sea front and it really takes you 15min in a slow pace… so I can assure you don’t have to be a marathon runner. Also hotel provides a shuttle to the center till 6pm (and in fact we only used it the first night because we didn’t know how close it was, after that always preferred walking), and on the other side you are even closer to Citara beach and another little center with bars and restaurants, and Poseidon thermal spa (some 10min walk). Highly recommend Poseidon and if you buy the entrance at the hotel reception you get € 3 discount (pay in cash). The hotel bar / pool area very clean and offers relaxing jacuzzi and cascades.

The only reason it’s a 9 and not a 10 - needs a bit of refurbishment and will note there are a lot of stairs which wasn’t a problem for us but something to consider if you are travelling with someone with movement impairment.

The staff, every single one of them and forgive me if I don't remember all their names-- Pino, at the front desk, who arranged an early check in when we arrived early, and got me something to eat after hours of travel and no breakfast (thanks also to the amazing chef), Fabiana (with her beautiful smile) and Giovanni, for serving us (two old ladies) like queens, and Cito too!, Donatella who took care of addressing our transportation needs, busses, shuttles, taxis, etc., Carmine and Vito, also at the front desk, and then, of course, the head chef, Giovanni, exceptionally efficient and accommodating! Nothing was missed, thank you, Giovanni. But the next first best thing we like was the food! Do not go anywhere else to eat! The food is amazing, the antipasto buffet was a meal in itself, and everything, every single item was absolutely delicious! Bravo, Chef! I am sorry I never got your name! What a completely outstanding staff! Oh, and the breakfast buffet was everything one could hope for especially as an American! And then there was the wonderfully spacious room with an outstanding view of water and sunsets !

At first, I was taken back by no elevator, but I quickly realized that the entire complex -- pool, outside bar,, dining room, rooms, etc, we're all located on just 2 1/2 floors, and the rest of the amenities quickly made up for the lack of elevator (as I said we were two old ladies, 75 and 78).

Wow! We LOVED this hotel - it was the best place we stayed in all of Italy! Perfect! Beautiful hotel - so many welcoming areas to hang out -we loved our room with a big balcony overlooking the sea - amazing sunsets!!! It has a great pool/deck rooftop bar with out of this world views. It has yet another huge area where they offer endless espresso and gorgeous catered breakfasts. And they even have a downstairs lounge with lots of places to hang out and play games. There’s no reason to ever leave the hotel! But…For explorers of this beautiful island - this hotel is in an ideal location -we found two of the island’s best beaches -right there! We ended up lounging at the beach across the street and having dinner and sunset drinks at a beachside restaurant . The hotel also arranged scooters for us-on one of our days - and we circumnavigated the island - great fun. Finally- every single staff person - front desk, waitstaff, housecleaning- are FANTASTIC!!! They arranged a shuttle from the ferry to hotel and back; arranged scooter rentals; created beautiful breakfasts and made sure our room sparkled.

Staff was kind, responsive, engaging and helpful. Continental breakfast was included.- nicely laid out and good selection of items. Nice pool, great views, good beds, clean... Our room had a very nice terrace view of the pool below and the ocean further out. AC worked well. Wonderful location for a good up and down hill walk (20+ min) to Poseidon Thermal Spa and great views along the way... There was also a dedicated shuttle staffer to take you to areas nearby. Everything else was a quick 15 euro taxi drive into town and back- taxis arrive minutes after being called. We would love to return!

if you are going to Ischia, this is the best hotel! location is perfect, in the coast line with amazing views to the sea, a few blocks away from the city centre of Forio where you have plenty of options to get dinner or something to drink. The hotel has a shuttle that is a huge plus, they pick you up from the port of Forio and they take you to the nearby beach of Cetara and the thermal park Poseidon (a must!). there is an excellent breakfast and waiters are really kind and attentive. A special thanks to Vito who explained everything and was always attentive.

the pool does not have hot/warm water and we visited the second half of September so it was not that hot. However, the stay was perfect!
