The location and furnishings are extraordinary. Overall a very special experience. The grounds are immaculate.
The service and quality are surprisingly inconsistent—sometimes excellent, sometimes distracted and inattentive. The same dish appeared in completely different ways within the space of 3 days. Sometimes one is served a plate of cheese and prosciutto with a cocktail, sometimes a bowl of peanuts. There don’t seem to be standard processes in place. This comes across as rather unprofessional for such a venerable establishment. You never quite know what to expect.

Our bathroom was the biggest we have ever seen and we think the shower cubicle could have been maybe double the size as it was so much space to have it bigger.

As a solo female traveler, I have rarely enjoyed a warmer welcome in the restaurant, served attentively but not intrusively by Mr. Albino. His menu and wine recommendations were excellent and very much appreciated. I also enjoyed a warm reception and a very spacious room. Lovely and extensive park-like grounds.
