Salthill Hotel

The staff were super friendly. The facilities are gorgeous from the Decor in the lobby to the bar to the rooms. The rooms were really clean and the bed was very comfortable. Really enjoyed the cocktails in the hotel bar. Tasty & reasonably priced.

I have stayed many times in salthill hotel and was disappointed to see that pay parking has since been implemented particularly when paying to stay over for a substantial amount of money. The heat in our room & corridors was crazy hot. This was partly our fault as we hadn’t thought to look for the thermostat in our room. I feel the menu in the bar was lacking a few ‘usual’ favourites. I distinctly remember it used to have a delicious Thai green curry which I was disappointed to see was no longer available. I feel like the menu could have a lot more choice.

The rooms were great, the location excellent. The sea view from our room was amazing. Bar and restaurant staff were friendly and accommodating.

The restaurant seemed a bit understaffed. We ordered drinks after sitting at the table, had to remind the staff about them 10 mins later and then they came to the table just as the food did. The rooms were nice and comfortable, and the only small issue was that the shower head needed a small bit of cleaning as you could see the limescale building up. And that was all I could nitpick over, such is the high standard the hotel is at.

I was surprised and disappointed to find our door open and housekeeping were already in the process of cleaning the room.this was at 10.30 on the morning,we were not due to check out until 12pm we couldn’t wash out teeth or use the facilities and all our personal belongings were in the room. were housekeeping not aware that the room was still occupied.my son and I had to grab our stuff and had to leave. it really put a damper on our stay and after paying what we did for the room I think it was in very bad taste..

The breakfast was good staff were friendly food looked good,and hotel was clean and tidy.t

There was no air conditioning i think the hotel could lay on a hotel taxi to get you home from town at night or have a small charge

Nice location, clean room and bathroom, good breakfast, good size of the swimming pool, the second swimming pool 18 metres with a warm water, not deep, suitable for children.

Cold water in the main swimming pool, it was uncomfortable to swim even for me used to swim in the cold Atlantic ocean in the summer.

Reception when we arrived were so helpful and courteous A spanish girl was on reception i think..She . organised our bags to the room.We had lunch when we arrived + the staff were so efficient + helpful and the food was absolutely excellent..... We had dinner on 1 night and the food was very good. . We have been going to your hotel for about 3 years.. We really enjoy it. .I met Peggy at reception today and she was so friendly and helpful told me to book through website in future for parking benefit.. Bar staff also excellent

There was nothing we didn't like. . We were more than happy with our visit and hope to go back again November or so..

Friendly staff, two elevators rather than just one was good, breakfast was peaceful and plenty of room between tables. Hotel location was good near the beach front. The basement parking was useful to keep car cool in heatwave and easy access to elevator.

The two rooms we were allocated had no air conditioning or plug sockets beside the beds to charge the mobile. We asked to be moved rooms as the heat was too much to sleep during the heat wave. The new rooms suited us much better which had air conditioning. The rooms could do with more storage drawers for unpacking clothes etc.

Room was not ready until 5 pm. We had a drink in the bar and walked in to Salthill and back and still not ready. ( Saturday night was busy. I think the bedroom staff have the most difficult jobs in the hotel). We have got Vouchers for coffee in other hotels when this happens. It is a nice touch. As there was drilling outside our bedroom window on Sunday - we asked to change the room. We were lucky we were able to change - as we noticed the work on the conservatory went on until 8 pm some evenings. There was hammering and drilling and I felt sorry for whoever got our bedroom. The beds were very comfortable. The staff were all really nice to deal with. We had dinner on two evenings and were happy. I thought the bar was terrific with lovely seating.

The decor in the bedrooms needs up-grading. I realise the last few years have been very difficult for hotels and it will take a few years to get back to where they were. I didn’t like the seating in the foyer. The seats were too low for my husband. It all looked very bland and crowded out. A choice of different types of seating would look better.

Lovely hotel, lovely bar area and swimming pool. Very quiet at night. Very comfy beds.

It took way too long to get food in the bar.

The hotel was situated in a lovely spot in Galway overlooking the sea. The staff were kind and the bar and food were of a good standard. The cocktails were great, especially the Lychee one! We were even gifted complimentary drinks due to getting engaged that day on the Cliffs of Moher. Breakfast was reasonable a good selection, and the scones were delicious. We then used the spa facilities, which are really nice, very hot sauna and steam room. Check out was 12pm, which was nice and parking was free with your stay.

Our double room was 2x single beds pushed together. It's not ideal when you've just got engaged, and your partner is 6 ft3. It would have been nice to have a proper double bed or have been upgraded given our celebration.
