We loved everything. The place was lovely and the people very kind. The building is old but is amazingly quiet. The rooms I found them spacious and the bathroom comfortable. It happened as well that when I left I misplaced a ring and I called to see if they had found it. They loooked and called me back saying they didn’t find anything. Later I found it in a small pocket of my backpack. They also called back some hours ago to see if I had find it which I hadn’t at that point. They asked to please call if I found it which I never did because we left the country and it was hard to place a call where I was. But they were ever so kind kind the process. I also loved the Celtic art around and for some reason I saw many decorations of ballet dancers which I loved and found curious because I am a ballet dancer myself.

Family-owned business with exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. The main sitting room was a lovely mix of furnishings with older sofas arranged around several coffee tables and accent chairs. It had a quirky charm and was so comfortable. There are better places in Killarney for meals but the pub was fantastic and music played throughout our stay. Even the music playing the lobby was lovely and unique. Great location!

We tried two meals onsite and both were disappointing. Meals arrived at the table lukewarm and were poorly seasoned. Breakfast was better but still underwhelming. However, the ambiance and service were excellent.

The location is perfect! Short walk from the train station and right in the middle of the sights and sounds of what we in America would call the business district! Breakfast was delightful. Staff was amazing. The beds were fantastic! Loved that there was a fan in the room. The traditional music in the hotel’s pub was like none other. We had so much fun listening and watching the musicians and the crowd. One thing to know when you’re in the pub is don’t be afraid to go to the bar to get a drink. There didn’t seem to be table service…the place was packed so that’s to be expected!! Super experience!

This is a lovely hotel of the old-fashioned type (in stark contrast to some of Killarney's more modern hotels like the Plaza or the Towers). Other members of our family stayed in them but I wouldn't have swapped. Breakfast was excellent and the service assiduous. I particularly admired the fact that the hotel gives employment in the dining room to one member of staff who has Downs syndrome. I wish more would do the same. We had a great stay and it's a lovely family-run hotel I'd heartily recommend.

I think it's unnecessary to garnish a cooked breakfast with greenery. Easily handled, though.

This was the best holiday/hotel experience my husband and I have ever had. The location is unbeatable, the hotel and rooms were even more charming than the photos let on, and the staff were the most hospitable and friendly we’ve ever encountered in all our travels. We had a phenomenal time in Killarney thanks to the Arbutus hotel & staff. You must check out Buckleys Bar off the lobby- special thanks and shoutout to our bartenders (now friends) Rian & Ellen & crew. Lots of love from the Canadians! <3

The nearest car park is actually connected to the hotel via the back door from the bar area so no need to park away from the hotel. The rooms all have different decor and are generous in size. Freshly cooked to order and generous portions at breakfast. Cooked breakfast is favoured over continental offerings although there are some options.

The windows are not double glazed which allowed us to hear customers outside if going to the parking and also the fan was near us. It didn't go off during the night but late pm. A room safe would have been the only thing missing which we would appreciate. A trip to reception for the safety deposit box is inconvenient for jewellery storage.

I liked the location. It was very central. There was a car park out the back of the hotel and you can enter here through the bar and get to reception. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very nice, clean and warm. A kettle, a hairdryer and a TV were provided so I was happy with this. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and had plenty choices.

The shower is in the bath so that may not suit everyone. just check maybe if you’re not safe to have a shower this way.

This was our second stay at the Arbutus. The hotel is well located in the town centre, near the railway station. The public rooms are beautiful, traditional interiors in Georgian style, with elements of Celtic ornamentation. There are numerous examples of 'Killarney furniture' in the hotel, a distinctive form made of locally-growing arbutus wood with marquetry inlay. The hotel bar has the character of a tradtional Irish pub with some excellent decor, including an art deco fireplace. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

Really enjoyed our stay. Very friendly staff. Lovely comfy beds and quiet room. Perfect location. Public car park accessible from back entrance of hotel. Loved the bar, full of locals, great craic, sound barman, tasty roast of the day.

Didn't want to dislike anything, however the WiFi was very poor on the top floor, many TV channels didn't work, and the breakfast was poor

We just booked for a place to crash after a wedding in a different hotel so really just brought our bags up to the room and left. But saying that, the staff who checked us in were lovely. The night porter was nice too. We walked past the bar and staff were friendly and greeted us by telling us to enjoy our day. The bed was very comfortable and the location was ideal! We would stay there again

We didn't spend much time in the hotel but what time we did, we liked it. We have nothing negative to say
