Callas House

Highly recommend staying at Callas House in Budapest - we were given a free room upgrade to a suite on arrival, with a rooftop terrace offering stunning views over neighbouring Budapest Opera House. The decor in the rooms is exceptional and staff were very helpful during our stay - helped with safe, booked taxi to airport for us. The complimentary breakfast was ideal, and also enjoyed the fresh cakes and goulash soup. The location couldn't be better 10 or so mins walk to St Stephen's Basilica, Szimpla Kert, Karavan street food, next to Budapest Opera House & within reasonable distance to Parliament Buildings, Danube, Szechenyi thermal baths & Heroes Square. The bed was comfortable, but a little too firm for our taste. Pillows were fairly flat and would benefit of being upgraded to match the luxury accommodation.

I would challenge anyone to find a better hotel for the money in Central Budapest. This is a small boutique hotel with very pleasant and helpful staff who make you feel like you are living in their home. The hotel rooms are located on the top floors of a building on Andrássy út right next door to the newly renovated Budapest Opera House (a must see). The hotel is just a half block from the Opera Metro (M1) subway stop. Being on Andrássy út and practically right on the Metro Stop gets you to just about any place in central Budapest within 10-20 minutes. The rooms are recently renovated and spacious. Our room had a balcony overlooking Andrássy út and the Opera House. While Andrássy út is a busy street we were never bothered by any noise (unless we had our door to the balcony open). When you book your room with breakfast, you'll be in for a very pleasant surprise. Your buffet breakfast is in the Callas Cafe/Restaurant (on the bottom floor of the Hotel). Callas Cafe/Restaurant is a high rated restaurant and has one of the finest Art Nouveau interiors in Budapest. The cafe is not open to the public for breakfast, so you have most of the restaurant to yourself - your breakfast there will be memorable.

Daytime reception staff were so nice, so polite helpful, friendly, room with rooftop balcony was just fab, although bathroom was a bit tiny, decor is really impressive which is why we chose Callas House, located perfectly in lovely part of the city, can walk everywhere from there x would stsy again for sure

Not clear that cafe downstairs is separate to hotel, breakfast was not very plentiful and staff didn't seem that bothered to get us what we needed, wouldnt bother with it next time. overnight receptionfemale staff, could not have been less helpful. We arrived at 1am to find i hadn't booked for 2022, absolutely my mistake. We had no room, she was of no help whatsoever we had to leave and find another hotel at 1am A little help/advice would have been nice after a very long airport delay

We absolutely loved staying at Callas House recently! Our family booked 3 rooms and we were all very happy with this beautiful small hotel in a great location right in the heart of Budapest. Our rooms were spacious and quiet with a truly unique Art Deco design. The bathrooms were well appointed and sparkling clean. The staff was so friendly and accommodating and went out of their way to make us comfortable. The breakfast buffet every morning was delicious, fresh, and had a great variety. And the restaurant was stunning and we all enjoyed the peace and quiet before heading out for a busy day of sightseeing. Also, the hotel is right next door to the Opera House, so the location is amazing. One of our rooms had the most gorgeous view of it! Thank you to everyone for making us feel so welcome and we look forward to staying with you some day in the future.

Our visit was during the hottest days of the summer and we found that the room air conditioners lacked the power to completely cool down the room. Our rooms were comfortable, but we would have appreciated a lower temperature with the air conditioning blowing with more power.

Excelente customer service. The receptionist and staff were very welcoming, friendly, helpful, and professional. My room was gorgeous, clean, and the bed very comfortable. I loved the fact that complementary sparkling water was provided daily. I also loved having my own Nespresso coffee machine. the breakfast was delish. The property was easy to access and in the heart of it all. Staying next to the Opera House was incredible!

Callas House is an old period hotel, so you have to accept the quirks that comes with it. The design of the hotel is really nice. Our room had an amazing rooftop area which overlooked the Opera House. Decent breakfast at the cafe adjoining the hotel.

Lots of stairs, and the reception is hidden behind lots of doors - should be more obvious and welcoming. we had really old and worn out towels which was not nice, one of our towels was so old it had holes in it. the sheets could also do with a change.

Situated in a perfect location for all the sights of Budapest and authentically furnished for a taste of Hungarian culture. Admittedly the entrance could be considered a little daunting, but once you're on the third floor and in reception the welcome you receive from either David, Ildikó or Maria confirms the excellent service you will receive throughout your stay. Since we were staying for a week, we were upgraded to a larger room and that was much appreciated....our arrival was after midnight and yet time was taken to explain the facilities in the hotel and demonstrate all that we needed to know about the 'perks' of the upgraded room. As others have mentioned, breakfast was served in the adjoining restaurant and no doubt having to exit the hotel and re-enter from the street could be an inconvenience, in bad weather; however the café/restaurant is such a beautiful place that you are immediately at ease. Once again, Sofia and Helen are providing excellent service throughout the breakfast period. Once our dietary requirements were explained, on the first morning, our breakfasts were prepared for us, each morning and even certain preferred items saved for us. Our room was warm, the bed comfortable and there was plenty of hot water at all times of the day. The housekeeping girls also deserve a mention; cleanliness and attention to detail was faultless, toiletries and complementary drinking water were replenished on a daily basis and not only did they take a pride in their work, but they took the time to engage in friendly conversation. In fact, everybody involved in our stay took the time to recommend, offer advice, explain customs and make us feel extremely welcome. If our advancing years allow us the time for another trip to Budapest, this is the only hotel we would choose! Many thanks to all.

Nothing that would spoil our experience.

What an amazing hotel. I have been in Budapest in the past and stayed in different hotels but this was different. I loved it veeeery much. Staff very friendly and warm, professionals and they are focused that their guest feel comfortable in Callas House. Guys, you are wonderful... Few words about the location. It is located in the very heart of Budapest. Everything is near for shopping lovers they will not find the better place than it is. Everything is in the few minutes walk/drive from this place. The rooms are constructed and arrange very well and comfortable. You will feel the history in this place. Its fact that who has did it, designing staff he/she did it veery well. In the same building there is a wonderful restaurant where you are having tasty, well cooked and yummy breakfast. The restaurant itself is great, interior everything i liked it very much. To sum up, i am planning to visit and stay there (Callas Hotel) for several days. Callas Hotel Staff, Than you for the fantastic and mesmerizing memories that i took from Budapest.

We were upgraded and given our choice of rooms .. a very lovely large "old world" suite with a view of the Opera House. Large bathroom with good hot water pressure & all amenities. Excellent location, metro across the road, easy walk to main areas. Upmarket street surrounded by good restaurants. And around the corner from "Hop on Hop off" bus. Highly recommend. Our receptionist Ildiko was lovely .. we enjoyed chatting and getting lots of helpful tips & info from her. We arrived with no luggage (bags delayed) & staff were so considerate. Parisian style Breakfast room was charming & great service from the cook, she went out of her way for us. Very enjoyable stay for 6 nights.

This beautiful hotel is located in a wonderful area of Budapest, literally a few hundred metres from all the major sights of the city. The art nouveau style of the hotel is definitely the highlight: it contributes to a luxurious experience in a wonderful city like Budapest. Another amazing thing was the breakfast: a wide choice of sweet and savoury dishes. Absolutely recommended for those who want to enjoy a lovely stay. The staff were all very kind, polite, and never failed to give us tips about the city and little tidbits of information about both the hotel and Budapest. Thank you!

There are no things we didn't like; if I had to recommend something, however, I would recommend cleaning thoroughly under the bed and under the radiators where there was really a lot of dust (this didn't compromise our stay, however)
