Hotel Grotta

This is just the most fantastic hotel. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and kind at every turn. They organised a hire car, a boat tour and restaurant bookings with great recommendations to make the most of our time in Naxos. Free transfer to the airport and ferry port. Nothing was too much to ask. I have coeliac disease so getting safe gluten free food on holidays can be really hard. The hotel owner has a daughter with coeliac disease and they went above and beyond to provide the most incredible breakfasts and dinners for me. I felt so cared for. If you don’t have any allergies you’re also in for a culinary delight. I’ve never seen such an incredible spread at even the best 5 star hotel anywhere in the world. My partner was in heaven. The hotel itself had an incredible view from the room, the restaurant and the rooftop. I think it has the best views in Naxos. There is an on site car park which made life with a hire car so easy. The room was charming and had everything we needed. we had the most stunning balcony. The bed was big (if a little hard). The shower was big and modern. The hotel is located just outside the old town which means you’re in a modern building with modern amenities and a great view from a hill, but just a 5 minute walk to enjoy the charm of the old town. The reviews for this place cannot do it justice. Don’t hesitate, just book it.

The owner and her staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet choices were amazing, so many homemade breakfast pies and quiches, fresh fruits, cakes, and Greek yogurt.

We were located in the lower section, with no view, yet there were rooms with balconies and a view that seem to be unoccupied. Our room was dark and very cave-like, and the neighbors kept going in and out slamming their door all hours (a smoker). When I was booking the property, I requested a room with a view and they claim they had none, yet we saw rooms not being used that had a view. I don’t trust Booking .com anymore to get a good room. I will book directly with the property.

The breakfast was spectacular. The views were amazing. It was quiet, safe, and just a short 5-7 min walk from town. What stands out the most is the customer service. They are the kindest, sweetest, most helpful staff ever! When I return to Naxos, I will ONLY stay at Hotel Grotta! Thank you all for making my first time in Greece such a memorable one!

The power went out for the entire city one night which was totally out of their control. The staff still found a way to be so kind. They brought water and beverages, opened the patio for me to sit until the power came on, and stayed up at the hotel until it was fixed! Such great customer service!

Hotel Grotta has without doubt got one of the best views of Naxos. From our spacious balcony we could see a 180 degree view of the town centre (Chora), Portara - a key monument attraction and the beautiful Aegean sea. The room itself was spotlessly clean with a lovely minimalistic-style decor and all usual amenities including a small fridge, toiletries, hair dryer and a safe in the cupboard. Apart from the view, Hotel Grotta's unique selling point is definitely their very generous, special and unique breakfast offering, which is undoubtedly the best we've come across. In addition to the usual continental options, a huge variety of cakes, desserts, pies (both savoury and sweet) and traditional Greek dishes are made available. Their hospitality is incomparable. People make places, and that's true of Hotel Grotta. Each member of staff came across as friendly, helpful and happy! The staff are personable and their approach to making guests feel comfortable is truly unique. They even offer a welcome drink and a pie as soon as you arrive, which is another nice touch. Free taxi drop-off to the port was much appreciated! We will be returning to Naxos several times in the years to come and have found the perfect base to stay.

Amazing views & a great location . Only 10 min walk to the main town . Our room was comfortable & a little treat, piece of cake every morning which was a beautiful gesture ! The women that run the show were super amazing. Friendly, respectful, always greeted you with respect & always had time for a little chat ! The food was just unbelievable & delicious, lots of variety every morning & plenty of it . The two mummas that share the cooking “bless their hands”. I would definitely book again with Hotel Grotta !

Everything was perfect ! The only think I would suggest is if they would instal power sockets with USB chargers in the rooms ! Otherwise loved our stay !

The location is superb, close to the centre of Naxos, and the temple of Apollo. The views from the hotel were great, especially from the rooftop terrace. The rooms were big enough, clean, and comfy. The staff was helpful, and friendly, and there were free transfer included from / to the port. And finally, The Breakfast was AMAZING!

Great hotel with friendly staff. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and I enjoyed having a balcony. Close to town, but far enough away that it was quiet.

I would have preferred the buffet was served by a staff member. I guess I'm just still not comfortable with strangers standing over the food, not wearing masks. The food was delicious though, so tops marks for that.

Everything! From the first moment we arrived, we have been very well taken care of. We've been welcomed by Marine and Nicoletta, two wonderful women, funny, always making sure we had the best time during our stay. Marine has been our guide throughout our entire stay, giving us plenty of good tips on what should be visited and Nicoletta has been making sure we had our belly full by serving us the best breakfasts of the universe every morning, the best cakes of the galaxy in our room every day and serving us their best wine of the universe. ;) ;) The breakfasts are to die for, and making it impossible to choose what to eat as you want to taste everything! We had the ocean view room with a little balcony. The room was very clean and had all the essentials. The view was in fact very beautiful on the ocean and the port. The location of the hotel is perfect, outside the busy center but close enough to walk easily to the center, with all the restaurants, cafés, shops and Kastro! The pool, sauna and hot tub were very nice. It was nice to see that the pool isn't 100% indoor as the front of it faces the outdoor garden and so it is an open area to the outside (I mention this because it is not that clear on the pictures). Because COVID, you had to book ahead a time slip of 30 min to use the pool area. The rooftop was ideal for an ''apero'' at sunset. I don't have the words to describe fully this place, you need to experience it yourself! I fully recommend this lovely hotel. And like everyone else writing a review, we also wished we could have stayed longer. Knowing this before, we would have swapped a couple of days of Santorini for Naxos without a doubt! The way they welcome you and the warmth that they showed at this hotel was unique. It’s a family run hotel overlooking the sea and the temple of Apollo in Naxos. Despoina and Maria at the front desk/lobby were simply amazing - happy, cheerful, thoughtful and eager to help with any needs. The morning breakfast was a spread meant for kings ! This was a unique breakfast with lots of home made dishes and also continental food. Amazing Marin mans the counter in the morning there to make sure everyone is taken care of. Nicolette (whose family owns this hotel) was amazing with her high energy, knowledge and ability to direct us to great places to explore on the island. The hotel is very tastefully decorated, all public areas in the hotel, you see staff wearing masks and they expect guests to wear masks as well. Sanitizing stations also exist. The hotel is simply clean, spic and span. In our 3 days here we could not find one instance of any mess. The housekeeping staff are just amazing and make sure your rooms are clean and beds made every day. We did not use the indoor pool/spa/sauna. We spent all the time outdoors. It’s amazing that this hotel also offers complimentary pickup and drop off from the port and/or airport for their guests. Every evening when we came back to our room, there was always a surprise sweet treat waiting for us. We thought we were special, but found out later that they treat all their guests the same way :) Having visited many hotels on our travels over the years, we can confidently say this was surprisingly one of the best places we stayed and enjoyed our stay thoroughly. I know there are other hotels in Naxos, but next time in Naxos, we certainly will be back at hotel Grotta.

It had sweeping views of the water, port and Apollo's temple with a convenient location to town. Lots of value added details including a pick up ride upon arrival at port, welcome drinks and homemade pie, nightly in room sweet treats and a scrumptious breakfast buffet with so many choices for all tastes to be enjoyed seaside indoors or out. Due to Covid protocols we were allowed to book the pool/sauna/hot tub area privately for 30 minutes. A nice touch after a full day of touring. It's a beautiful updated property with nice amenities. The best part is the incredible staff. They go out of their way to be helpful and are genuinely friendly to make your stay perfect!

The in room fridge didn't seem to be working and didn't get cold.
