Avenue Hotel

All of the staff were really helpful, polite and cheerful, especially the man who spoke very good English and was very efficient and had a great sense of humour. Staff were very welcoming. The room was big and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was very good with a good choice. The hotel doesn't look great from the outside but don't be put off as it is really good. The hotel is in a good central position.

I knew dogs were allowed at the hotel but was surprised to see one wheeled into breakfast on two days in a dog pram. This can't be very hygienic and I found it a bit much.

This is a GREAT hotel with value in the center of Nurnberg. About 5 minutes from the Marktplatz, and easy to reach everything that you might want to see in the old city. Restaurants abound in the area also. The staff is esceptional, rooms are very clean and maintained with price, and the breakfast is one of the best I have had in my business travels. I did not expect such a super breakfast for the reasonable price of the room, but it was great. My only caution is that from the outside you might not think it will be so great, as the entrance is via a small corridor......but once you walk inside, you find everything clean, well organized, and really great. I highly recommend it for pretty much everyone, but for a value minded traveller or tourist, it is really good. By the way, I am often rather critical with reviews, so for me to speak so well of this place speaks well of it!!!

Firstly all the staff were friendly and helpful. the breakfasts were superb, great variety and able to be gluten-free too , a big plus !! quiet rooms that had modern fitments through-out. the front desk were so helpful when the national transport strike day meant we had to leave our bags in safe room before taxi came, -- which they had kindly booked for us. would recommend the Avenue for a great stay, with fabulous breakfasts !!

nothing to do with the hotel but corner of street seemed to be the '' in place'' for teenagers to meet up in evenings, --- they were all good nature though !!

Everything was great. Staff is amicable and helfull. The location is very good, near the metro station and near hystorical attractions. Quiet and clean room. Iron and ironing board are awailable at the request, free of charge. Breackfast has a nice variety of options to choose from. Muesli, milk, fruits, berries, pastries, omelet, hard boiled eggs, sausages, smoked salmon, variety id gems, bread, cheeses, coffee, tea, everything is fresh, tasty, many items are packed in indicidual portions. Definatley would recommend this hotel!

June 2023. Big breakfast buffet and the position is strategic. I saw a club under the building going into the hotel, but to be honest I am not really sure you could hear anything if you were right above it.

Furniture is "vintage" and the bed wasn't the most comfortable for me (45 yo male). A woman kept coming up to me during breakfast at the table asking me if I was done, to take the plates. The fan in the bathroom stays on for at least another 15 mins after you turn the light off, not ideal when you're going to bed

Location is good, clean & well heated room, and average breakfast.

There is not a hand soap in the bathroom. Shampoo based chemical is present above the sink but it does not give feeling of cleaning or hygiene. Pillows are too thin and I noticed the note in the room about available alternatives pillow on my second day. Also, it is a bit bothering to go to the reception ask for a pillow. If the alternative was in the closet, it would have been better.

We really enjoyed the accommodation. The host was super friendly and helped us with all our demands. Breakfast was excellent. Bed super comfortable. Location was in the city center and the room was clean and spacious. We really recommend the location.

In August the weather was pretty hot. Our room didn’t have A/C and it was hot. As the windows are facing the city, it was loud in the night if we stayed with the open window. But we were too tired, so we slept even though :)

Honestly, when I first saw the hotel I couldn't understand the fantastic reviews. The entrance is next to some clotheshop in the far back, it's interior is 90's chic and it had an outdated vibe about it (but that's just my personal impression). However, the guy at the front desk was so so nice! All.the.time. Before visiting I called up the hotel to check whether travelling (at the time) was still allowed for tourists and already on the phone he was extremely friendly. (I noticed that people in general are very friendly there!). The room was a decent size, the mattress was extremely comfortable and breakfast was oh-so-delicious. Everything is packed in re-usable containers to ensure hygiene standards, you get a choice of boiled, scrambled and sunnyside-up eggs and they even offered a variety of fruits. You can chose between filter coffee or individual coffee choices from a self-serving coffee machine. The hotel is right in the centre of the old town and everything is in walking distance. There is a Rewe supermarket right next to it, my room had a fridge and upon asking I was also given a small kettle so i could make tea or coffee in my room. I was there for only two nights but I managed to visit all major attractions: the Memorium for the Nuremberg trials, the Albrecht Dürer House, on my arrival day I walked around the Old Town and up to the castle. On my leaving day I went first to the new museum for contamporary art and while it was nice (the building is awesome) i was kinda disappointed. I still had about three hours left until my train so in desperation I went to the Germanisches Nationalmuseum. And oh boy, that was an absolute hit! I should've gone there right away. What a fab museum. It has a ton of great art to look at - they house two Rembrandts, seven Dürers and the oldest globe in existence from 1491 (yes, without America!). And their restaurant is so popular people come there for lunch even from outside the museum.

I could walk everywhere I wanted to visit in about ten minutes including the castle, national museum and train station. My room was clean and spacious and despite being in a busy area I heard no noise from the street. There was even a sewing kit and trouser press if you so needed one. Breakfast was a high quality buffet and all the staff were friendly and helpful and I liked that it wasn't just another chain hotel.

I really have no complaints.
