Hotel Essener Hof; Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western

This hotel stay experience was super nice. The location was perfect, very close to the train station and the city centre, so it was easy to find supermarket and breakfast (I did not book breakfast with this hotel). The room was large, around 14 square meters, and the bed was also large and comfortable. What I like especially was the bathroom. When we got into the room, the toilet was kind of sealed with a paper band saying "disinfected". Because corona was not over yet, it was very sweet to see the hotel took the hygiene issue seriously. We visited during the Eurovision and watched the show in the bar of the hotel, which was super cosy, and I definitely recommend their rich cocktail collections on their Getränkekarte.

I recently attended the TechnoClassica auto show in Essen, as I have for the past 15 years. Staying at the Essener Hof was always chosen due to its location and service. Due to Covid, I have not visited Germany during the last three years, and it appears that the Essener Hof has undergone a remarkable renovation. As always, the staff was professional and very agreeable, fluent in several languages. At special request, my room was available at 10AM. It was light and airy, the linens grand, the bathroom was a tribute to the latest technology from Hansgrohe, and given my state of fatique from travel, it felt like a palace.

That poor old elevator from Otis, needed a little attention, however, what went up, came down reliably. Particularly nice, was the security screening device attached to the elevator controls.

I had a wonderful stay in a spacious and clean room that was beautifully designed. The thoughtful welcome gifts were a nice touch, and a well-lit bathroom with a modern shower was great. I particularly enjoyed the hotel's unique architecture and opted to use the stairs, which reminded me of a castle.

I had trouble connecting my laptop to the TV to cast the screen. Although there was an option in the TV menu, the TV was on a different network than the room's wifi, which had no internet. However, this was a minor issue that did not impact my stay since the room had wifi with an excellent signal.

Breakfast is splendid, location is perfect - close to center, adjacent to subway and bus station. Great for work travel. Also there was a football festival for the 4 days I have stayed there and the hotel was crowded however I have not heard any noise. I have requested a quiet room before my stay and this request is fulfilled by the property, thank you!

Check-in personnel English can be improved, she is quite nice but communication needs to be better. Location is right across train station - which is perfect although on the stairs going towards the station there are some untrostworthy, vagrant people, felt a little bit unsafe while passing.

We had a perfect stay during the Internationale Spieletage 2022. The staff were extremely friendly and supportive, showed us our rooms, and took care of the luggage. Rooms spacious and clean, the hotel was overall very clean and in perfect shape. Very comfortable beds and a quiet night in our appartment facing the courtyard, haven't slept so well for some time. Good drinks and snacks in the bar during the evening. Breakfast was perfect, they made the most of the limited space, with many different options, and great fresh Brötchen. Good fitness room offering all the standards. Very child-friendly, despite a business focus. Great location 3 min from the main station. Streets have the usual mixed crowd for such a location, but did not feel unsafe at any time. This will be our preferred stay for the Essen area in the future.

Almost nothing. The bar / restaurant area could benefit from a bit more cozyness.

The room was exceptional in all ways - very clean, modern and a good size. The hotel is well located for transport links, notably the main railway station. Staff were very friendly and most were multi-lingual. The hotel has also partnered with a car park that is situated very close to the hotel and you even get a discount as a guest of the hotel - parking was 9 Euros per day.

We found breakfast too expensive at 17.99 Euros per person considering there are ample outlets offering breakfast at a much cheaper price. Everything else was great - no complaints.

Very comfortable, typical German 3* or 4* hotel - more likely 3* as no room service and a closed restaurant. No possibility of buying a coffee during the day, for example. However, we had a cosy, well-appointed room with adjustable radiators and windows which open. Fridge, kettle, coffee maker. Excellent quality breakfast in very nice surroundings. Location opposite the station and in the city centre is a real plus. An easy walk to shops and restaurants.

We would have liked a TV/radio channel guide to avoid searching randomly through many channels which weren't available.

The hotel was in front of the station, but the room had a garden view, so it was very quiet. The double room was spatious, with a desk, a table, and had a small refrigerator under the cabinet, which functioned as a counter for serving hot drinks. I very much liked the furnitures such as the closet with lightings inside, and a bench seat near the room door, where you can take off your shoes and put your coats and bags up on the wall hook. The person at the bar was super friendly, and the food and drinks were excellent!
