Hotel Chateau Kurfürstendamm

Great location in West Berlin near the main shopping street in the city (Kurfurstendamm). Lots of cafes and restaurants nearby (as well as a Lidl supermarket). Easy to catch a bus or walk to the U-Bahn station. Hotel was surprisingly affordable, and we would stay there again when visiting Berlin. Since we traveled in the off-season, we managed to get a slightly larger room. There's a buffet breakfast for about $15 every day on the 2nd floor - really excellent assortment of breads/pastries as well as hot foods (eggs/sausages, but no waffles or pancakes). Officially, I think this hotel is part of the Mercure brand, but this hotel seemed slightly quirkier (there's a dog most days in the lobby), and it almost seemed like a condo/apartment building that had been converted into a hotel.

We didn't really get to use any of the facilities at the hotel, other than the buffet breakfast. There might be a workout/fitness room, but we never saw one. Also, the room furnishings felt a bit dated. Everything very clean, though, and the cleaning team was very courteous and efficient. We traveled during off-season, so the hotel seemed kinda quiet, but that might change during peak season.

The location is very good, public transport stations are very close to the hotel and it is situated in a very nice district of the city. We have visited other districts during our stay and from our experience, it was the best one in the whole Berlin. Breakfast had a lot of different options and was tasty, so was the coffee. Beds were surprisingly comfortable as well.

Noises in the early mornings were a bit distracting as it is summer and we like to sleep with windows open, however, there was a lot of noises starting early morning such as construction, lorries picking trash up, etc. However, Berlin is a big city so I guess that's to be expected.

Very friendly staff, amazing breakfast, gigantic room (we had a panorama room with balcony), air conditioning, clean room, and bathroom, great location, comfortable beds. We really enjoyed staying here!

The bedding was quite noisy, and so was the sofa-bed when the kids turned at night, but not everyone would be bothered by this. I am a very light sleeper, though. We didn't have shower gel, only shampoo in the shower. We didn't have a kettle but a coffee maker, but a kettle was provided upon asking. My mum stayed in a twin room and said the bathroom was very cold and air conditioning could not be turned off in there.

The room was large and comfortable with a good powerful shower. There was a safe and a small refrigerator. Quite surprised to find a kettle with tea and coffee, because I had been advised that most hotels in Germany don’t provide drink making facilities. Breakfast was plentiful and would certainly suit all tastes. The staff were all very friendly and efficient.

Occasional noise from people leaving a nearby night club(?) in the early hours, so maybe a room at the rear wouldn’t have that issue.

We booked a room in the last minute, and the staff were kind enough to upgrade us to a large room with balcony, which is very appreciated. the location was very good. only a few minutes walk to the nearest bus stop, U-bahn and S-bahn. 2 supermarkets right outside of the hotel, and plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. the hotel and the room were very clean. overall we had a great stay in this hotel!

the breakfast was good, but kept the same every morning. if you come late many items are missing. there is only 1 elevator in the hotel, which is not so convenient.

We like location. Room was good, with bathtub and air conditioning (it was needed, due to +30 degrees in Berlin). Breakfast was like in other same rank hotels, but can be good to have a salmon and baked beans. Kettle was in the room, iron is available on request.

Small remark. Looks that there was a thin wall with one of the rooms next to ours, because we heard very well talks and steps in that room. From other side room we don't hear any noise.

-the hotel is very well placed, only 10 minutes to walk for the S train station and only 4 minutes to walk for the bus station, there is also a Lidl near the hotel -the breakfast is good and tasty -very clean -the staff is friendly and helpful -the room and balcony are very big

-the furniture is anthique, old -there could be more options for the breakfast, not the same things everyday -the quality of the coffee is bad

Mainly Location. The proximity to the Savingnyplatz metro station and availability of many restaurants nearby made it a great place to stay. The staff was very friendly and welcoming.

The breakfast provided was average. Also, the building seemed old, but I guess most buildings in East Germany would appear so.

the beds were so comfortable and the reception was always open when we had questions/concerns. the neighborhood is really nice!

they gave us a room were the airconditioning didnt work and we had to ask 3 times to get a different room. we were already 3 people instead of 2 in a standard room and the heatwave was starting so it was very hot. we have also paid for an extra night as they couldnt change the dates when i called a week before to ask if we could arrive a day later and change it because of sickness.

The location was okay since it is near the supermarket. It was near enough to go the commuting stations.

It was a Friday night when it was noisy outside from the next door restaurant. The aircon was not as cold so we had to open the windows. But it was hard to keep it open because it will automatically close. and the window was very heavy. After a day or two, we finally figured out how to slightly open the windows :)
