Mercure Lyon Centre Château Perrache

Building: The exterior architecture of the building is exactly what I imagined for a stay in France. It definitely has a charm to it that is significantly lacking in newer buildings. The lobby was relatively modern and convenient to access. The rooms had the iconic extra tall French Door style windows leading to a balconet. I stayed in the Superior Double Room. Bathroom: Modern bathroom with a lovely walk in shower. It had the standard shower head but also a rainfall type shower which I did not expect and was an absolutely pleasant surprise. Good water pressure from both. If you're the type that prefers scalding hot showers, you will be disappointed. But if you like your showers just hot enough to warm up and feel comfortable on a cold day, then it's perfect temperature. Bed: The mattress was firm, but not excessively so. It felt like the first time you lie down on a brand new mattress level of firmness. Pillows were also just firm enough to provide comfortable neck support if you're a side sleeper. If you have minor back pain or an achy back, then these beds and pillows are likely to help you feel less so the next morning. Staff: The staff at the reception desk was incredibly polite and helpful during my check in process and the stay despite my limited command of the French language. Location: Less than 5 minute walk from the TGV Gare de Lyon Perrache and you can easily hop onto the high speed rail to Paris. It's a bit over a 10 minute walk to the TCL.

Location: It was a bit hard to find the path to get to the hotel. When you arrive at TCL Perrache (metro), it's actually a transfer station between buses, metro, and light rail. There's no clear indications within the station on how to actually get to the hotel. If you're on the lower level, you need to traverse through the light rail tunnel in a completely unmarked direction. If you're in the metro station you need to go upstairs to the main level, traverse across a skybridge heading towards TGV Gare de Lyon Perrache (high speed rail), then down a flight of stairs. The hotel itself has two sets of entrances, one facing the tracks of Gare de Lyon Perrache and the other facing the bus ramps of the TCL Perrache station which actually is more like their basement entrance.

Late checkin was very useful and they allowed us late check out as we arrived very late. Room was big with lovely high ceilings and the Aircon was a godsend in the heatwave. Breakfast was easy and had lots of choice. Staff were friendly and a cot was provided as requested for our little one.

Bathroom shower was missing bottom guard so water went all over bathroom. Bathroom could have been cleaner. I had a late breakfast and some items had run out. Salad bar and bar area were advertised in our room so my partner skipped breakfast to get the salad bar lunch instead. Then when we asked about it at checkout we were told it didn't run on weekends so he had to go hungry! Open hours should be clearer. Bar also was not staffed when we visited at about 2pm.

The building is beautiful as are the lounge and bar areas. The location is a surprise you walk out of the station and it’s literally right there. This was soo convenient for me as I arrived by train and left by train the next day.

I think if you we’re staying more than one night the location would be annoying as you need to walk through the subway station to get in and out. The hotel lacks the charm of being on a beautiful street.

Location was amazing, especial y because we travel by bus. We loved the facilites and was more than expected. Above all, we wanted to point out, thank them and congratulate the Hôtel for their amazing desk staff both night and day shift. They were súper easy to talk to, help us with loggage before and after check in/out and even help us to warm Milk for my baby before the check in time. We were a group of 9 and they were classy and helfull, they let us stay in the lobby and never gave us any bad look or a “go away” vibe. One again, thank you so much, we apréciate it

Located directly at one of Lyon's main train stations, the surroundings are not exactly inspiring for a safe nightly walk, and you should certainly keep your valuables close. The interior of the hotel is however beautiful, the staff friendly and competent, and the restaurant has French cuisine and a good breakfast. It would be a good place if you are traveling by car or have an early train.

The location, it is very convenient to get to the train but a long walk to get anywhere else.

The location is great for Lyon. It is exactly next to a main train station where there is also a Metro station. So for discovering the city the location is really good. And you don't have to worry about the noise of the trains. We didn't hear anything.

The parking is limited at the hotel parking space, about 20 places. We could not park there anymore so we had to park nearby to the station. There is enough space but it looks a bit like a getto. Grafitti and concrete.

The room was clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very nice with many options of sweet and savory. This hotel is located very close to the Metro. it is a nice walk to the square and old town. I would stay here again.

The room was a little small. The bed was a little firm for my liking. There is a parking garage but you have to exit the hotel to get to the garage. It was tricky and a bit confusing getting to the hotel. I feel that these are minor dislikes.

A beautiful old building with great facilities. Restaurant was great and the staff really nice. Would go back again.

It is quite difficult to find by public transport as it's in the middle of a transport intersection but once you get your bearings it's quite well positioned for walking around the city which is really picturesque. The hotel bar was not the best.

I really liked this hotel. A vintage property with modern rooms/bathrooms. Staff was very helpful when I needed a place to eat an earlier dinner and print my train ticket. My train was leaving before breakfast (a grab and go options would have been nice). My room was large, had good lighting, and a coffee pot.

It was hard to find from the train station next door. I could see it, but had to ask for directions twice to get to it through a rental car parking lot. No one was wearing masks.

Close to the motorway. Beautiful building. Right next to the station. Parking. Clean room, huge bed. Ice cold water available on the landing to refill the bottle provided in your room or your own bottle. Excellent t buffet breakfast

Not very easy to find, this might have been due to our sat nav. Although close to the station and motorway it’s not in the nicest of areas.
