B&B HOTEL Dunkerque Centre Gare

This hotel is in a great location - close to the train and bus stations and with street parking for cars just a minute’s walk away. Dunkirk offers free bus travel so being close to the station makes it so easy to get around. You can be at the beach or museums in minutes. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and speak great English if your French is a bit shaky. The rooms are a good size and well equipped, and the bathrooms are much bigger than many hotels. Despite being close to the stations, the rooms are quiet. The more expensive rooms have great coffee machines too. Breakfast is great and includes scrambled eggs and sausage as well as all the standard continental breakfast elements.

The only issue we had was that we were expecting the hotel to be on a main road and have a car park, so we spent three quarters of an hour driving round the one way system and looking for the car park which doesn’t exist. As long as you know to park on the street and just walk across the place to the hotel, you should be spared the tears and tantrums that marked the start of our visit to Dunkirk.

My bedroom was very comfortable, with good washing facilities and very clean. I was very impressed with the great variety of food for breakfast, which was all delicious and the breakfast room was not only bright and comfortable, but guests were also treated to some delightful Cuban music, giving me nostalgic memories of my holidays to Havana many years ago! A big thank you to everyone.

The drinks and snacks vending machine was a little difficult to use at first. but one of your staff kindly helped show me how to use it.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was a good size and so was the bathroom. There was a coffee in the room. We enjoyed our stay so decided to book another b and b hotel further south in the summer.

The bottom of the shower had come away, but we reported it when we left. We also found it a little hard to find as you can't drive past it, coming by bus or train it is easy to see but if you park in the train station car park you can see the front of the hotel.

The staff was very professional & friendly - we felt very well treated.

I liked the location, the hotel is just in front of the train station's entry (the bus station as well), for the people who are tired of travel is great to not be obliged to take another transport from the stations to the hotel ... I appreciated the bed, the pillows were great :) The staff was nice and helpful. It's a bit noisy place, of course, as the both stations are just in front of the hotel (especially during the working days), but with the closed window it was OK. With the bus C4 you can reach the beach really easily for free, but if you like walking it's not so far neither.

When we finally found the hotel, Ingrid, the clerk on duty was very helpful and advised where we could park our car. Our original room would not lock, so she found us a different room. As I stated, Ingrid was very helpful.

The rest of the desk staff were not very helpful. I would say rude. We paid for breakfast the first morning after check in and found it to be lacking substance, especially considering the price being charged.

It was a very clean and comfortable room; very well heated;; so close to the train station; courteous and efficient receptionists who were visible all the time throughout our stay. I was aware that I would not be provided with kettle and tea and coffee-making facilities in advance but I booked in any case and was very pleased with my choice.

Location to main Dunkirk for walking out to attractions and sights. staff excellent at all times of the day/night and excellent English.

parking and directions! this is definitely not explained properly on the site. The hotel address and sat nav sends you round and round the streets/area and over the river and back and can’t work out how to get to the hotel as it does not sit on a road but a pedestrian area. it should advertise to park in the main train car park at the end nearest the entrance to the station and then the hotel is there!

The bed was very comfortable. I had one of the best sleeps for long time. The room itself was clean and comfortable. The staff was super helpful and friendly. The hotel is right beside the station, which is convenient if you are taking early morning train.

The shower curtains could be better, the water was splashing everywhere making the floor wet.

The hotel staff were very friendly and approachable and helped to arrange a taxis to and from the hotel to my training destination. The hotel location was ideal for all my travel purposes and although breakfast was very modest, it was sufficient. My room and bathroom were comfortable and the workspace provided was very practical. The bed was also very comfortable and I slept better than at home!

The breakfast although sufficient, was extremely basic and did not cater for dairy or gluten intolerant diets. It would have been appreciated to have at least the offer of soya milk. Although my room on the whole was clean, it was clear that the floor had not been vacuumed in a few days and the shower hose was leaking- two points that I regret not mentioning to the receptionist. It was great to have free wi-fi, but the connection dropped out unexpectedly whilst I was in a work presentation, which was inconvenient, so I recommend that guests opt for the pay for service if they are using the internet for Zoom calls.
