HOTEL & SPA Le Renard Centre

The location was absolutely great. Step out of the front door to a square with nice bars and shops. Plenty of restaurants and bars and Chalon was a nice place for a walkabout for a couple days. We loved the breakfast times. We work very long hours when home and Breakfast/Brunch was up to 2pm so we could have a good old lay in if we wanted.

If i had one critisism and i hope i'm not being too fussy. The ground of the nice pavement bar of the hotel was an absolute carpet of dog ends. To be fair it wasnt just this bar. I'm not a smoker for the last 12 years but i am not a moaning ex smoker either. Even when i was a smoker i hated littered areas with dog ends and the bars of Chalon were the worst. One last thing you have to remember that France closes. We arrived on Saturday and had a great evening. On Sunday evening, however most of the restaurants were shut and we couldnt get in to the ones open. we managed to get and settled for a sandwich from the shop. Just remember if eating out to book if you are there Sunday night

1. We almost did not book because the hotel looked rather quirky, but it is much better in real life - it has real character! 2. The breakfast was OK rather than excellent, some items were missing/ not replenished - but this was only a minor fault - there was still plenty to eat - it is just that we enjoyed better breakfasts in other hotels during our holidays. 3. Overall there is nothing important on the negative side - we really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely come back again

This is an excellent place to stay in the very centre of Challons-en-Champagne. The bustling market square is vibrant and fun (but quietens down quickly after midnight). The hotel ws super comy and clean. Really nice staff and easy parking

This is a small issue about my taste in coffee, so not a real proble m 9even though the description is long). This is just me, they only had one f those coffee capsule machines in the room, so you can't make tea (the hot water coming through it has the falvour of coffee). Also, I think the coffee from those capsual machines tastes pretty bad, Additionally they are very bad for the environment. They seem popular (so many hotels have them in the rooms now), bt I really don't like them. I find the coffee to be poor and the environmental issues are not trivial to my mind.

Great location overlooking the square with bars & restaurants & perfect for a convenient stop enroute to or from the Channel crossing. Secure underground parking is available close by for a small charge. Check in staff & bar staff were polite & friendly.

no kettle in the room. I've stayed here on 3 occasions & each time certain items on the breakfast buffet have run out & took too long to replenish, (Scrambled egg). Also I had to go in search of cutlery as none on the table.

The room was very spacious and comfortable, the hotel is in a brilliant location, right in the centre of town, with plenty of cafés and restaurants within a few minutes walk. Their breakfast wasn't the cheapest we've had in France but was very generous and with an amazing choice of different things....you could really eat as much as you wanted. The staff were very responsive when I realised we wouldn't be able to park in their underground car park as we had a top box on the car, I emailed and they quickly arranged parking in their courtyard. A very enjoyable stay.

Staff were very helpful and pleasant, spoke very good English and put up with my attempts to speak French! Very helpful as well when the police came to advise me I had parked in the wrong place in the square! The second time we have stayed at this hotel, and will definitely return again.

Breakfast was a little expensive for a buffet continental breakfast, so we found breakfast elsewhere, otherwise no complaints from our stay.

Everything was Finland the staff was very polite and helpful. I had booked an underground safe parking but someone had taken up two spaces hence I was allowed to park in an open but secure area inside the courtyard of the hotel. Excellent customer service. The breakfast was very good and at a reasonable price plus the room was spacious and our dog was well treated and treated. The proximity to stores was a plus.

Everything went well and we enjoyed our great yet brief stay.

We have stopped at Chalon numerous times before on our way to or from Calais but this was the first time we had stayed at Le Renard. It will not be our last. The staff were all very helpful and spoke excellent English. We had a spacious room with a very comfortable bed, tea/coffee making facilities, a fridge and two free bottles of mineral water. The bathroom had a good selection of toiletries. In addition to a fairly small private car park the hotel shares an underground garage with the Ibis Styles hotel next door. Due to the one-way system you had to drive around the block to get at it but I was given a map and clear instructions so it was not a problem. Even better as I was on a motorbike and did not take up a car space I was not charged for it. You walk out of the garage up some stairs and emerge in the street right next to the hotel’s car park. In the morning we had a great buffet breakfast, one of the two best we had all holiday. There was an excellent range of hot and cold dishes, all of which looked really good, an orange juicing machine (lovely) and a good choice of tea and coffee. At €11 it was good value.

Great location in the square with bars and restaurants nearby, we ate in a great place called Gaston just across from the hotel on our first night which was lovely. Really friendly and helpful staff on the front desk and in the bar. The bar was nice with a good atmosphere and great for a nightcap. They also served local champagnes by the glass which were lovely. There's secure parking which we booked in advance, this was great as we arrived on a busy Friday afternoon and there wasn't much free parking nearby (the parking was at a charge but only 7 euros a night). Our room wasn't the largest and looked out over the back of the hotel but it was quiet and allowed us to leave our window open during the night. We were very happy with it. There was free WiFi and a large TV in the room with access to Netflix. There was also a pod coffee machine and complimentary water in the fridge. The bed was a good size and really comfy and the bathroom (with a separate toilet) was clean with soft towels and nice toiletries. A great stay, would definitely recommend and if in the area would certainly stay again.

This was our second stay at this hotel albeit our first was some 15 years ago. What a difference. There is now a lovely large comfortable bar area - very nice for a relaxing drink. The rooms are a good size overlooking a pleasant square with nice shops and restaurants. There was excellent secure parking available and a very good breakfast with hot and cold food available. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
