Arctic City Hotel

The hotel was brilliant, in the centre of Rovaniemi, everything literally in front of the hotel, buses to Santa Village and Airport are 5 min away, shopping mall the same, great coffee shop across the street and 24/7 shop. The sauna was empty when we went up although they do have designed hours when you can use it depending if you are male or female. Breakfast had loads of options and there is also a restaurant and a bar/grill on the hotel premises both had fantastic food. Would definitely come back if ever in Rovaniemi again.

We arrived at Rovaniemi airport around midnight and there were a lot of passengers but almost no taxis. With -28°C outside in a dark, wild night, it was quite stressful. However, after calling the reception, the lady quickly sent a taxi to us. We are really grateful. The hotel is well located and nice. The breakfast is really great with many local dishes and variety.

Our room was really small, even compared to Parisian standards. We wondered why this is so in Rovaniemi, especially considering the price you pay for a hotel room here.

Amazing stay at the property. Location is unbeatable and the most positive point as every important thing of the city is at 2 mins walk weather it is the tour companies or the restaurants. There is a supermarket just outside the property too. Staff was amazing and always ready to help. Breakfast was really nice as well. Good Wifi at the property. Bathrooms were super clean and toiletries were of good recognised brand too. There are couple of bus stops on 5 mins walk where you can take buses to Airport and Santa Claus village etc. Stayed there for 2 nights. Basically everything was amazing.

Nothing was there to dislike. Perfect stay for a short trip.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. We arrived on a Saturday morning and luckily we could checkin early, a room was already ready for us (we have transmitted when booking the hour we arrive). Since it was a Saturday during peak season, they also recommended that they make reservations at the hotel's restaurant and we agreed and had a wonderful dinner (worth it!!!). The room was warm, nice and clean, a bit small but we managed to have enough space for our luggage and stuff. The breakfast had many french influences and it was delicious.

It was a bit odd that the wall between the bathroom and the room was partially glass, so we could see the person in the bathroom if they were standing.

We had the most amazing 3 day stay at the Arctic city hotel. We landed after 12 hours of travelling and were made to feel very welcome by Kristina on reception. Our room was ready early which was a bonus. Although the rooms are slightly on the smaller side, they have everything you need. The beds are comfortable and the rooms clean. Breakfast can get busy between 7 and 8am, but on the days we went between 8.30am and 10.00am it was quieter. There is an incredible selection of food for breakfast and we really enjoyed it. Would highly recommend for a stay in Rovaneimi.

The hair dryer in the room is not very powerful. If you have long hair, I'd recommend bringing your own as they don't have extra at reception.

Breakfast was wonderful, the options were great and the quality was nice. We also ate at the bar downstairs and enjoyed that. Comfortable bed and accommodations. The front desk staff was so helpful and friendly. I also enjoyed sitting in the lobby and having a drink from the lobby bar. The WiFi worked great and the location was perfect to walk around. It felt very safe and convenient. Even though it was in town, we didn’t hear a lot of noise!

The bathroom was tiny and didnt have any storage space to put toiletries. The shower itself leaked like crazy and there was always so much standing water on the floor. There was also no safe in the room which we thought was unusual.

The breakfast was really good, I especially liked the option of non-alcoholic 'wine' in champagne glasses which gave it an added special touch. Options included pastries, pancakes, cooked breakfast, cereals and continental. We also loved the deep bath, bubble bath, double shower head and rituals shampoo and conditioner. Little touches of luxury!

The bedroom would be described as cosy but the bathroom can only be described as tiny! That said, it didn't effect our stay if was just a surprise. We found someone else's boxers just under the bed so the floor hadn't been cleaned properly (they remained there for our stay no one ever swept under the bed).

Location and delicious breakfast. Only by walking distance from city-center, and also not that far away by foor from railway station. Reception area looks good, also snack-bar with coffee tea available. We liked that we could open a small windows and vent the room with fresh air.

Not that quiet rooms, but that might be because the Hotel is built a longer time ago, but it is not noticeable inside as it is good renoveated. But you can easily hear when your neighbour is a little louder, or there are snow-plows working outside at night.

We stayed at Arctic City Hotel on mid-March for 3 nights. Our room was a style double room on the 3rd floor with street view. The hotel's location, at the very center of Rovaniemi, is undoubtedly great. Everything one might need was in walking distance. All tour operators, shopping centers, restaurants, cafe, supermarkets and bus stations (including the bus station for Santa's Village) were literally on your doorstep. Even the central railway station, the interurban bus station and the Arcticum were just 10min away on foot even with snow. You could even walk to the observation tower of the Ounasvaara Fell, following a great path through the snowy forest (aprox. 30 min). The room was clean and warm, not too large but comfortable for a couple, with a quite comfortable bed and an interesting deco. However, the bathroom was not spacious and the shower tube was tiny. Moreover, the shower glass panels should be replaced or better set-up since the floor got soaking wet when we had a shower. The breakfast was very tasty, with plenty of food and very well served in the hotel's quite cozy restaurant. The staff was super friendly and super helpful, both in the reception and the restaurant! To sum up, the owners of this hotel should consider some refurbishment of the rooms and definitely the bathrooms, in order to meet one's expectations from a 4-star hotel and for a better value-for-money rate. Its great pros are the location, the staff and the breakfast. Despite the small bathroom, we really enjoyed our stay there and we would visit this hotel again.

The size of the bathroom

Breakfast was exceptional. Delicious and plenty of choice. Staff were wonderful and I was even allowed to check in at midday instead of 3pm. Location was fantastic. Shuttle bus to and from airport, and Santa Claus Village, right outside the door.

Room was tiny. I was glad I was alone. It would be a bit tight with 2, and 2 peoples stuff everywhere. The shower leaked all over my bathroom floor. I mopped it up with a spare towel. The soaking wet towel was not collected when the room was serviced and just left there... Also the price. Nearly 500 euro for 2 nights. I've stayed in much better hotels for a lot less. But Finland is expensive...
